FileNet provides both document management and business process management functionalities. FileNet provides robust out of the box tools for end users (IBM Content Navigator) and for admins(ACCE) to store and classify documents. It has a great set of connectors for data migration to and from Kofax, XML import/export, Emails, Sharepoint, scanners, file systems, etc. Perfectly works with Oracle, DB2, SQL, MSSQL databases, IBM WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss application servers, allows to configure data model and user permissions as detailed as you may need. Collaborating documents with external users force you to send the document via email or requires the external users to have FileNet license. Other ECM products solve this problem easily like Box.com. I have used this software for past 10 years and implemented this solution to multiple clients who have stored documents from multiple business units like HR, Accounts payable, IT, Contracts, etc. I have designed applications to allow access to documents only to certain groups. Since the Federal Government uses NARA's Universal ERM Requirements, having standard features that follow rules to make applying retention and disposition instructions more automated would be beneficial. There may be more that I am unaware of but as a electronic records manager I rely on the admins for their information and more automation would be helpful (unless I am unaware of some aspects). IBM FileNet is excellent solution for businesses and large organizations. FileNet make easy and simple to access and store documents within second. Multiple groups work simultaneously and incoming and downloading of document never fails with secure access within Company and outside with vendors. Rarely have seen downtime. Don;t know can be accessed through mobile or not. And There should be a feature of auto keywords for documents as well.
