This is one of the few cases where rebuilding beats recovering. TestDisk being called out makes sense, but the real decision is whether to attempt reconstruction or bail out to file-level recovery early. Have you come across any reviews where partition rebuild partially worked and made things worse? That risk is why many teams skip straight to file extraction.
