## About Files.com
Files.com is the secure, cloud-native File Orchestration Platform built to replace the patchwork of legacy file infrastructure: aging SFTP servers, heavy MFT suites, separate file-sharing tools, and the custom scripts holding them together, all with one system. IT teams stop losing hours to patching servers and chasing failed transfers, while business users get a clean interface that works for technical and non-technical teams alike. Files.com consolidates every file flow into a single platform with centralized access controls, policy enforcement, and complete audit visibility. It presents every storage system (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, on-premises NAS, and 50+ other connectors) as one governed namespace, so multiple clouds and on-prem storage work as one. Automate mission-critical flows with no-code workflows, or build against a full REST API, SDKs, and a Terraform provider. Files.com speaks SFTP, FTPS, FTP, WebDAV, and AS2, exposes an S3-compatible endpoint, and supports OpenPGP and GPG, connecting modern apps, multiple clouds, and legacy partners without middleware. AES-256 encryption in transit and at rest, fine-grained role-based access, SSO, SCIM, and MFA, and immutable audit trails support SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, GDPR, and ITAR requirements. Built cloud-native with elastic scaling, there are no servers to patch or manage. Files.com is ranked #1 for Managed File Transfer in Gartner Peer Insights and scores #1 across every attribute on G2's MFT grid. More than 4,000 organizations trust it, including Equifax, Rag & Bone, Cognizant, and Michelin, with over 15 years of operation and zero breaches. Go live fast with expert-led onboarding included.

**Reviewed by:** Courtney Y. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

It is incredibly easy to use. I don't need to spend time trying to figure out how to use the application, it is very intuitive. It has allowed me to share documents effortlessly and securely. Our technology team has easily integrated it into our techstack so that we can simply login with SSO so I don't need to remember another password - a huge plus! I have not needed to rely on their customer support team; however, I suspect, customer support would be representative of the quality of their product. It is quick, easy, and secure - I really couldn't ask for more! I use Files.com at least weekly.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

I can't think of anything I would change about the product!

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I often have to share large documents with vendors and lawyers that are far to large to email. Files.com has provided me with a secure medium to do this. I often work with photographers and videographers in marketing who need to send me enormous files. I am quickly able to provide them with an upload link to a share folder. It has also given me peace of mind when sharing sensitive documents that I don't feel comfortable sending via email. I am able to transfer them without fear they will be intercepted.

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

It worked quite well at first and customers were able to upload documents easily...

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

Recently the file upload speed plummeted and my customers could no longer upload files causing a significant problem for my business forcing me to find alternative methods for my customers to share files.

Upon reaching out to "customer service" I discovered that they are simply dismal... they fail to promptly respond and the problem still exists. Many times I called customer support and the recorded message simply told me there was nobody to take my call.

For the price I paid for this service.. they need to do a lot better.

I would avoid this service if I knew what I now know about this company.

At the moment they are solving NO problems for me and are in fact causing more problems than solving.

The file restore feach has come in handy a few times for us a well. Ability to set permissions, data retention periods, and limit file types uploaded are very easy to setup. They meet our high security requirements. We have been with files.com for 5 years and while early on there were several outages, over the past couple of years the service has been solid with no major outages that we can recall. Very happy with the service and support.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

Pricing has increased substantially over the past couple of years.

**Recommendations to others considering Files.com:**

If you need a secure and reliable sftp server, files.com should be on your short list to review. Many features and easy to use.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our core business is based on receiving invoice files from vendors and providing normalized data to our customers. We must provide sftp access to these vendors and our customers with near 100% uptime. Files.com provide this reliable and secure location for us to make this data exchange.

**Official Response from Kevin Bombino:**

> Hey Eric,

Thanks for the great review. We especially love hearing positive comments about our Customer Support team. We work really hard to get that right, and I'm glad to see it gets noticed.

I'm confused by your comment about history export. We do offer a history export capability, and it supports a robust set of filtering options as well. You can filter exports by date range, interface, user ID, path, IP address, and more. Additionally, we offer a History permission you can assign to non-admin users to allow them to export history.

Feel free to reach out to our support team at support@files.com to arrange a meeting with our Product team to discuss your requirements for exporting. We'd love to support your needs here.

Best,
Kevin

 ### 34. Excellent User Interface - Excellent Tech Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kent J. | Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

It is easy to add and manage user accounts and delegate permissions for each one. Tech support is responsive and helpful. File management is also easy. The sync app is very helpful since it is drag-n-drop without having to use the web interface. However, the web interface is good and easy to use, too.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

Getting folder history reports takes a long time. I would like to set up a macro to get the specific type of reports that I need and let it cook while I work on other things. But instead, I need to manually ask for each part of the history of each folder and assemble the end report myself. If there is a way to do that, I would love to know.

**Recommendations to others considering Files.com:**

Files.com makes it easy to manage user permissions. The file sync tool has drag-n-drop simplicity.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Any technical problem I have had has already been solved. What the service does for us is allow the distribution of several radio programs to hundreds of radio stations. We can give each station permission for specific shows and track the history of their downloads.

 ### 35. Has really helped us gain control over our cloud storage

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rick L. | Chief Strategy Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

The ability to integrate and interact with multiple cloud storage platforms has helped us consolidate our processes and eliminate several integrations using a single API. The SFTP capabilities are convenient and have proved useful and simple to implement and manage. Automations have also proven a reliable way to assist with processing inbound files and have helped us reduce the need for human interactions cutting down on time spend and errors.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

We have integrated Files.com with our proprietary applications and are using it for integrated file storage. We are not using it for our day-to-day file storage and collaboration however would welcome this as it would allow us to consolidate even further. With more end-user functionality (i.e., versioning, collaboration, sharing, etc.), we would gladly expand the use to our team for more day-to-day use. I would like a more refined experience related to Automations (i.e., the ability to edit once they are in place) and a more granular set of actions in terms of dealing with one file at a time, for example, the ability to perform actions on a single file vs. a less specific group of files, e.g., the most recent files.

**Recommendations to others considering Files.com:**

We found it helpful to use Files.com as our primary storage (vs using it solely for managing other cloud storage solutions). By electing to store our files at Files.com we experience better performance and a more robust set of functionality.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Files.com has helped us reduce the number of APIs we're dealing with and has allowed us to consolidate our storage in a single place. While we still use other cloud storage services for day-to-day tasks, our applications are now fully converted to Files.com and that has increased our simplicity, security and time-savings.

**Official Response from Kevin Bombino:**

> Hi Rick,

Thanks for sharing this helpful review. I've shared your suggestions with our product team. You'll be happy to know that some of your requested changes to Automations should be launching in the coming quarter.

In general, all of your comments align with our roadmap. We are planning on continuing to expand the Automations capability as well as invest in more business user collaboration capabilities. Our vision is one platform that combines Automation and Collaboration.

 ### 36. Way to costly for small to medium size businesses...

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Phil C. | Solutions Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

The only advantage to Files.com was the ability to add notes to the user/customer profile.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

Pricing and the difficulty for our non-technical clients to access the FTP folders. In discussions with salespeople was told that the pricing had changed from $49 per month to $300 per month for two reasons. One, they were not interested in hosting small users anymore. Two, they had achieved HIPA certification, which gave them access to medical clients that would pay a higher price, and they did not want to set up a medical/nonmedical pricing system.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None! They have no advantages for Non-HIPA compliant users that I am aware of.

**Official Response from Kevin Bombino:**

> Hi Phil,

Thanks for your feedback.

We do require that our customers who are in the healthcare industry and are transferring or storing Protected Health Information (PHI) that is regulated by HIPAA to follow a set of best practices for security and compliance. This includes executing a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) as required by the HIPAA statutes, as well as enabling advanced security features.

Without knowing which company you represent, I'm guessing that Files.com discovered during an audit that you were storing PHI without following the proper procedures. We're more than happy to host small customers, but we do want to ensure that everything is by the book.

 ### 37. Files.com makes it easy for us to implement SFTP for different partners and internal needs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremiah N. | IT Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

We have had used Files.com for quite some time now. It is easy to stand up and keep track of users. One of our favorite uses is to be able to make a sharable link to allow others limited access to files that we would like to share. Along with automatically disabling accounts that are not being used/ logged into over a configurable threshold.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

The worst part about Files.com is the fact that our pricing is getting higher each year.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Several of our partners use our FTP to upload documents we need to receive in a safe way and be able to easily access. We limit access to the folders to only the users that require it for security.

**Official Response from Kevin Bombino:**

> Hi Jeremiah!

Thanks for the helpful review! We have recently added 2 and 3 year contracting options to ensure that your pricing remains consistent. Please reach out to your Account Manager to learn more!

 ### 38. Great managed file transfer service. Very pricey.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

The user interface and feature set of files.com is great. We are able to use it for automated file transfers as well as allowing non-technical users to view and upload files via the web interface. Unlimited storage is also a big plus.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

The per-user pricing model is very steep. It seems counterintuitive that we are charged a hefty monthly fee for each user (which costs nothing for files.com) while paying a flat rate for unlimited storage (which does cost $$ for files.com). It is getting to the point where the per-user cost is too steep for us to justify. There is also a bizarre quirk of the annual billing model wherein if we add one additional user over our pre-paid quota (e.g. we go from 150 to 151 users on a 150 user plan), we are charged a pro-rated amount for the full year of that user. All well and good but if we de-activate that user and add another (e.g. we go from 150 -> 151 -> 150 -> 151 users), we are again charged the pro-rated rate for the full year. So if we're close to our quota and frequently moving between being under and over our allotted users, we wind up being double charged.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our core business needs that files.com solves are a managed SFTP server with a web interface for non-technical users. Files.com is great for both of these use cases but we wind up paying for a lot of functionality we don't actually need or use.

**Official Response from Kevin Bombino:**

> Thanks for the comments.

As a company that is still young compared to the competition (the products we compare with on G2 were started in 1991, 1994, and 1977) we are admittedly still trying to find the best pricing model that makes sense for us and our customers. We think each iteration gets us closer to that goal but there are always some rough edges. The good news is that now that you are at 150 users, additional users are much cheaper.

Regarding the billing quirk you mentioned, we are more than happy to refund you the additional charges caused by that. Just reach out to billing@files.com.

We are also working on lots of additional tools to help you forecast resource needs to hopefully catch things in advance next time.

Thanks again for your business and we look forward to continuing to serve you.

 ### 39. A one-stop shop for file hosting and transfers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mathieu F. | Director of DevOps, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

- Great REST API for automating everything, and it's well documented.
- Very flexible and thorough solution, including all possible SFTP use-cases covered.
- Highly-secure (encryption in transit+at rest/SOC2/HIPAA/GDPR/etc), makes it easier to us to generate confidence with our partners and customers.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

- Prices are rather on the high side, and scale up a bit too steeply with number of user accounts needed.
- We don't have very high needs of storage space, rather for a sensible number of user accounts, but because pricing is solely based on number of user accounts, our low storage needs do not make for a lower price. We would appreciate a pricing model that takes both number of user accounts and storage space into consideration.

**Recommendations to others considering Files.com:**

We preferred Files.com's level of reliability and features, over cheaper offerings with less value.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Fully managed solution (minimal maintenance costs and concerns for us)
- Fully automatable via REST API
- Externalizing the responsability of SOC2/HIPAA/etc concerns

**Official Response from Kevin Bombino:**

> Hi Mathieu!

Thanks for the feedback. We have recently released new pricing that better scales at high user counts. We have several customers with 1k - 10k users, and we believe we are able to offer good value at that scale.

Please feel free to reach out to us for a review of your options.

 ### 40. Great Feature filled hands-off SFTP product

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John D. | Infrastructure engineer , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

Largely hands-off, easy-to-use interface, feature-filled, great security stance and certifications, SFTP is very reliable, APIs allowed us to improve our file processing efficiency

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

Some of the management tools are a little cluttered, The file management UI can sometimes be hard to navigate, some advanced support topics like getting security questionnaires answered can take a long time to resolve

**Recommendations to others considering Files.com:**

It's probably the best of breed when it comes to SFTP. Would highly recommend it vs running your own SFTP infrastructure.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provides a way for our team to offload SFTP file management and the operations surrounding it. They also have a good API that has helped us more efficiently implement file handling

**Official Response from Kevin Bombino:**

> Hey John,

Thanks for the feedback. We agree that there are opportunities to improve the management UI and we have several projects in flight related to that goal.

Thanks again for being a Files.com customer and we look forward to serving you for many years to come.

 ### 41. Swiss Army knife of file transfer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

Easy to use web interface to allow our customer service team to manage users and files, whilst also providing a powerful API to facilitate automated management of users and files.
Multiple options are available for file transfer, including SFTP, FTPS, SCP, Web and API.
Ability to use your own domain and SSL/TLS certificate to give your clients comfort that they are not being phished.
User management is excellent, with users able to manage their own account, particularly self password management.
Plenty of 3rd party platform integrations available if we need it (S3, MS Onedrive, Dropbox etc)

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

The slight learning curve for new administrators, due to the multiple options for file management, user management and overall configuration. Once up to speed though, everything you need to configure is available.

**Recommendations to others considering Files.com:**

Files.com may not be cheap, but it has been worth every penny. The savings on customer service team requests alone helps pay for the service.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Previously we ran our own SFTP, SCP and Web file transfer services, for 3rd parties to retrieve files. The setup and management of these services on Linux boxes created overhead, regular patching, and was not overly user friendly. The files.com service now makes us look professional and instills confidence with the clients, to be presenting a modern platform.

**Official Response from Kevin Bombino:**

> We couldn't have said it better ourselves! Thanks for the review.

 ### 42. Files.Com is Fantastic

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shane S. | CFO and COO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

Ease of use, security, great interface, clients appreciate it. I appreciate being able to easily upload files and set up new accounts for clients that always seem to work well.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

Nothing comes to mind, nothing is missing from this product. Everything works properly and I have no ideas how this could be better. I will try to think of improvements.

**Recommendations to others considering Files.com:**

I would highly recommend Files.com for FTP and client support.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sharing files with PHI with clients, sharing large files. I am benefitting financially by using this product and it makes our company more productive. Our performance has improved.

 ### 43. Files.com provides a reliable online storage solution for our vendors and customers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg W. | IT Support Supervisor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

User management is easy and the site is reliable. We use it as an alternative to Google Drive for companies that won't work with Drive or prefer secure FTP instead.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

Nothing. I have no complaints. I have had one or two service issues over using the site for several years and when I opened support cases my issues were resolved.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a number of customers and vendors who will not use Google Drive for online storage because they believe it is insecure and want to use FTP instead. Files.com fills that gap for us and is used to store sensitive company data.

**Official Response from Adam OBrien:**

> Hey Greg - thanks for taking the time to review Files.com. It's always good to hear that we are help teams hit the mark when it comes to security and usability!

 ### 44. The Sourcing Group and Files.Com

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gerald E. | Chief Technology Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

Its a very easy interface, with powerful API's and configuration settings for our users. In addition, the logging and notifications are very powerful

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

Certain functions like a default root directory only work with scripted or programmatic interfaces

**Recommendations to others considering Files.com:**

If you have a significant need for secure FTP throughout your organization, I highly recommend files.com as a centrally managed and controlled service.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We do an immense amount of secure file transfers. It gives us a configurable one-stop-shop for all my users and their customers who all have diverse needs

 ### 45. Flexibility, availability and extensibility

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

The security model is flexible and perfect for our use case. We have had no availability problems and the programmability model has allowed us to integrate seamlessly.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

I'd like to see more flexibility in the pricing model. It is currently priced per-user among other things. I would like to see a choose-your-own plan where I can choose users, amount of storage, API limits that are closer matches to my use case. That said, the pricing isn't bad. It was the only thing I could think of for this prompt!

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By using a Files.com, I get to avoid the headaches of operating and maintaining my own infrastructure and services for FTP. This has allowed us to focus our resources on our business-specific problems and not FTP.

 ### 46. All the features needed under one solution.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

In addition to the common feature provided by most SaaS providers on secure share links, SFTP, etc; Files.com do provide the feature of public hosting (web hosting), which is a plus to us. GUI is neat, user-friendly and the entire setup is easy. I do like the activity logs. Most important for me is the comprehensive documentation.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

The support is prompt and helpful, but the only downside is if you are of a different time zone, e.g. 12 hours. Do expect delay in response for case submitted. I do hope Files.com able to improve in this area.

**Recommendations to others considering Files.com:**

If you need an easy to use/manage and uncluttered interface secure file share, public hosting, SFTP, rebranding, etc...this could be the 'all-in-one' solution.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All the features are needed under one solution.

**Official Response from Kevin Bombino:**

> Thanks for the feedback. We do currently offer 24 hour support options for customers as part of our Enterprise Support offering.

It is our goal to add EMEA and APAC hours to our standard support offering within the next 12 months. We look forward to getting that gap closed for you.

 ### 47. Great Product, Great Service - Worth the Cost

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Realexis C. | Senior Account Executive, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

I really like the teams and products flexibility in meeting our needs. Our contact Dustin was of great help

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

Admittedly the service is expensive when compared to similar solutions but the quality is more than worth it

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Files.com is giving us the exact solution we need to be able to quickly connect Zapier with our 3rd party partners to easily migrate, store and secure data reliably. The benefits for my team are clear - time saved at scale that over time amounts to hours and hours of work saved.

 ### 48. Exceptional SFTP and so much more...

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philip P. | Information Systems Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

Ease of use for this cloud-based file-sharing application. We primarily use it as a secure integration point between other cloud and on-prem applications that need to pass files securely.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

It has thus far done everything we need it to. The alerts can sometimes be overbearing, but that's not something to complain about.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a secure cloud-based platform that allows us to easily connect multiple applications that require flat-file data transfer to update each other. We have multiple cloud apps and on-prem apps connected.

**Official Response from Kevin Bombino:**

> Hi Phillip! Thanks for the feedback. We agree that there are lots of things we can do to improve operational intelligence and feedback (alerting). Our product team has several initiatives related to this on the roadmap and we hope to ship some things before the end of the year.

 ### 49. Very Likely

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robin C. | IT analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

Ease of use - to add folders and users, plenty of space - sharing file urls

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

I like everything.

I was looking for a way to HOST a dynamic XML feed URL and I could not figure out a way to do that here.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ability to see files that are being sent from my various vendors to each other. It allows me to have oversite into the contents of the files and request edits without asking each vendor for access to cumbersome FTP servers.

 ### 50. Poor Support and Platform

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Files.com?**

I like how the tool allows you to store data and has integrations with AWS. However, when something fails or doesn't integrate properly the files.com team is horrible at getting it corrected.

**What do you dislike about Files.com?**

The amount of time the files.com team is taking to fix my issue. I have set up pushed to take data out of files.com and into AWS and the jobs get hung. The support team sees the broken process on their end and has yet to fix it. But they have no problem charging me each month for this tool. Unnacceptable.

**What problems is Files.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are not solving any of my problems at the moment because they cannot figure out how to get my data out of their system

**Official Response from Kevin Bombino:**

> I really appreciate you submitting this honest review. As the CEO of Files.com, I am terribly sorry for your negative experience. I sent your review to our customer support and product teams and we would really like to make things right.

We pride ourselves on having a service that "just works."

If you're open to it, I would love to set up a Zoom call to connect you directly with the senior leadership team and myself so we can ensure your issues are solved. Please email support@files.com and reference this response. We'll get it scheduled.
