The added confidence that Everlaw provides when trying to assess what type of data you have, how many custodians, popular time periods, or analyze conversations and keywords is powerful. When you have a large dataset to churn through without a lot of time or resources, Everlaw comes in clutch. Document review is easier and faster than other systems we've used on case teams by far. Customer serivce is also the absolutely best! They're so responsive and helpful. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** Because there is a lot of customization and options for the same thing, it can get a bit overhwelming to learn all of the places to complete a task in the beginning. It can also be a bit overwhelming to keep up with the regualr updates. These are good problems though because it does offer the user multiple options to fit their needs. **Recommendations to others considering Everlaw:** Come up with a list of current issues your teams are having during the discovery process--where are the places people have to slow down or that take too much time; what point is most stressful; where do teams tend to struggle a bit? I think if you take those categories, Everlaw really makes big strides to check them off the list in a meaningful way. There's a learning curve like all software, but Everlaw does a great job at shortening that for people and is much more intuitive than others we've used. They have great support people at the ready to help with various project needs or ideas to complete what you're trying to do. The system allows you to plug in and have access to the information you need--we love single sign-on--as well as decipher it and group it for the more visual folks doing review that helps you feel more in command of what you have. With dense discovery, or just record review for other purposes, that is a huge confidence boost when you're reviewing and producing, and it allows you to track it at every stage for the greatest assurance of defensibility in the discovery process. **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** The ability to code documents for multiple things at once and cut down review time substantially also helps us save costs. You have so much more control over how you see the data, use it, display it, review and churn through it than other database software out there and that saves time, which saves money. ### 11. We aren't a law firm, but are in the law industry and it's been wonderful for organizing our files, analyzing large amounts of documents, and the AI tool has been wonderful in breaking down depositions and reports. The sales team, customer support, and especially the training staff have been incredibly responsive and helpful in customizing our experience for our specific needs. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** There is a learning curve, so I would recommend doing a POV test run and taking advantage of the training tools during it to make sure that it is a good fit for you. **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** Managing large volume cases and files, deposition and report analysis, and translating documents into usable formats. ### 13. It's easy to find what you need when you start getting the hang of how it is laid out. You can do almost anything you need in a couple of pretty easy steps. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** Coordinating productions is a little more challenging than in Relativity, but overall it's doable. **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** Taking complex tranches of documents, keeping them easily separated and to prepare for production those docs needed to produce and searching those docs produced to us. It als can handle large volumes of data, making it suitable for both small cases and complex, large-scale litigation. Lastly, its responsive and helpful customer support, which can be crucial during high-pressure litigation tasks. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** I don't have the best time with production because of my lack of Everlaw knowledge, I know this process could be great, however I dislike that it taste bare minimum understanding to be able to utilize the platform decently well. You can't just throw someone in to learn, I feel that it would be really difficult for them to understand. Additionally, batch redaction does not always work. Persisent highlights ofen ID what it thinks is PII but they are not i.e. employee numbers are often mistaken for banking numbers so you cant use batch redact in that situation. Also, to make the production process painless, it's important to recognize the work done on the front end to set up the highlights, coding, presets, layouts, production protocol, etc. to set yourself up for success. **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** I currently do not have any pending problems with Everlaw. **Official Response from Miguel Allende:** > Thank you for taking the time to share your review. It has a clean and attractive interface that thoughtfully arranges the most used features where they are needed without overloading the user with information. Everlaw has all the features that a document review platform needs from basic coding to advanced review features. Everlaw interfaces well with productions from other platforms using standard load file formats. Everlaw's customer support is also uniformly excellent and quick to respond. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** Everlaw is not as fullly-featured as others in the field, but has all the necessary features for the vast majority of use cases. Some of the metadata mapping can be tricky, and generating privilege logs is not always intuitive. **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** As a smaller firm, we did not have our own eDiscovery platform. Everlaw gives us all the tools we need for doing review of large documents sets (a task we had largely done manually before) at a price that is far more reasonable for small- to mid-sized firms. I've been an Everlaw user for about 2 years and cannot say enough about the product and the customer support. Everlaw has a fantastic user interface that is very intuitive for even us novice/non-legal professionals. The platform provides a robust set of visualization tools that assist in getting a handle on large tranches of documents without having to do a close read and I use their batch redaction feature daily - it is a lifesaver for our Archive. I often have uploads of document productions from previous litigation efforts that have come from other ediscovery platforms. These often contain malformed bates numbers or load files that have problems, and the Customer Support at Everlaw is unfailingly amazing at receiving millions of documents on a hard drive and uploading them for me. They go above and beyond to assist us with getting uploads to work and are always responsive to questions. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** The only downside to using Everlaw for my Archive's processing needs is cost. We are fortunate to be a part of the Everlaw for Good program which gives amazing rates for non-profits and educational efforts. But even with the very low rate, we still struggle to fund this line item with the grant monies we receive. **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** Everlaw extends the accession model we use for traditional acquisition of archives collections, and allows us to get a handle on very large volumes of documents. With the platform, we are able to extract metadata and text at the document level which saves us thousands of hours of description time. Even the less tech savvy people at our firm have been able to be taught rather quickly how to review and run productions. Cloud capabilities. Being able to log in from everywhere is great. Especially during the current situation (Covid-19) it is extremely important for us to all continue to be able to work effectively from home, and Everlaw makes it easy. Being able to upload/download/review documents from anywhere keeps our office running smoothly, even when our physical office is shut down. Search features. I find it easy to build searches that help me narrow down the documents to just those relevant to what I am looking for. Tech support. Any time I have any questions I just send a quick email to their support team and 99% of the time I get a response within an hour. Their support staff is very knowledgeable and has helped walk me through many issues I've had. Update: Two years later and I still love Everlaw. They are constantly rolling out new features that make my job easier. The clustering feature is great for finding documents with similar themes or content. The Language feature is extremely helpful as we get a lot of documents in Spanish. Everlaw support is also still fantastic and always gets back to me promptly. Another update: We were early adopters of Everlaw and have now been using it for 5 years. I love Everlaw because it makes my job as an e-discovery specialist and paralegal easier. Everlaw is a one stop shop. I can review documents, create timelines and outlines using those documents, run document productions, view or listen to audio or video files, prepare search term reports on 100s of .pst files at once, review deposition transcripts, all within one platform. Prior to having Everlaw these jobs would have been scattered across different programs. Being able to do everything within one space makes my job easier, and makes me better at my job. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** No ability to print multiple documents at once is probably my biggest annoyance. I build a lot of binders within Everlaw for our attorneys to review or to be used for deposition exhibits or HOT DOCS binders. It would be great if there was an option to print the entire binder directly from Everlaw instead of having to export it and then print it. It is a minor annoyance, but with a product so great I have to knit pick to come up with dislikes. Overall I am very happy with our firm's experience since switching to Everlaw. Update: Two years later. I would say my biggest "I wish" for Everlaw would be the ability to set up automatic review assignment reminders for users. So I could set something that would monthly send out reminders to the users of the status of any reviews that have been assigned to them that they have not completed. Doing this manually can be a pain. Another update: Still wishing there was a way to set up review assignment reminders. **Recommendations to others considering Everlaw:** I would highly recommend Everlaw to any law firm looking for a new e-discovery and document hosting platform. It is extremely easy to use and has made my life much easier. Whether you're reviewing large or small datasets, Everlaw's features can help make your review easier. Everlaw is worth the price. **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** The biggest benefit we have noticed since switching to Everlaw is the ability to connect from anywhere. Our prior review software was not cloud accessible so we would have to remote into our network to access it. Now our attorneys and support staff can log in from anywhere. I've logged in from the lobby at my local vet while I waited for my dog's appointment, from my back deck while enjoying the sun, and have been logging in every day for the last few months from my dining room table as our office is closed due to the pandemic. If we still had our old review software we would have had major problems working from home for this long because we were only allowed to have a few people in it at once and it was not cloud accessible. Update: Two years later. I would say the biggest issue they are solving is making sure key documents do not get lost in the shuffle. Between the clustering feature and the predictive coding, it is easy to review large data sets and make sure no important documents are missed.
