What is Dropbox, and what problem is it built to solve?

Dropbox is a smart workspace for people and teams, intended to help them focus on the work that matters.

What languages does Dropbox support?

Dropbox supports 20 languages, including Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, English, and others.

What company sizes and industries is Dropbox the best fit for?

The clearest fit signal is among small businesses, with positive reviewers also represented in mid-market and enterprise organizations. Reviewer industries span several areas, including software, information technology, education, healthcare, and financial services.
  • Small businesses: The most prominent company-size segment in positive reviewer feedback.
  • Mid-market organizations: Also represented across a range of industries.
  • Enterprise organizations: Positive users include larger organizations as well.
  • Industries: Computer software and information technology are recurring, alongside education, healthcare, and financial services.

What customer support options does Dropbox provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Dropbox offers chat and phone support, along with FAQs and forum resources; live-rep support is available 24/7. The support experience is mixed: users describe timely, helpful assistance and successful issue resolution, while others find it difficult to reach a person or get help when account access is a problem.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Dropbox from another tool?

The move from other cloud-storage and office-suite options, including Google Drive or Workspace and OneDrive, is described as a shift toward easier file sharing and more dependable syncing. Dropbox’s straightforward workflow, cross-device access, and handling of large files are cited as practical improvements; transitions from other collaboration or file-sharing tools are also described as simpler to manage.

What tools and platforms does Dropbox integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Dropbox offers 222 integrations. Users connect it with office and productivity tools, communication platforms, and creative or workflow applications:
  • Office and productivity: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Office.
  • Communication: Slack and Zoom.
  • Creative and workflow tools: Adobe, Canva, Quickbase, Scrivener, and Marq.
In daily use, these connections help teams work with files alongside the tools they already use, share materials, and keep collaborative workflows moving without as much app-switching.

What features or capabilities could make Dropbox even more useful?

Dropbox could be more useful with improvements to storage flexibility, finding and organizing files, and managing collaboration. Recurring requests include:
  • Offer more affordable storage and more flexible plan steps for people whose needs fall between existing tiers.
  • Make search more effective for large libraries, with better filtering and ways to organize files across complex folders.
  • Improve large-file syncing with clearer progress and status information and more reliable handling of interrupted uploads.
  • Simplify shared-folder permissions and access controls so collaborators can understand and manage access more easily.

Is Dropbox considered safe and secure for handling data?

Dropbox users often value the sense of control they get from secure file sharing, access permissions, backups, and file recovery. At the same time, confidence is not uniform: concerns include how well sensitive information is protected, the lack of default zero-knowledge encryption, and the need to reassure clients about security. For sensitive-data use, buyers may want to assess whether Dropbox’s security controls meet their own requirements.

"Excellent for Seamless File Sharing Across Devices"
5/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

I appreciate Dropbox's ability to seamlessly share files between my phone and computer for work, which is essential for my needs. I've been using Dropbox for at least five years, and one of the aspects I find most convenient is the straightforward process of installing it on different devices, signing in to my account, and instantly accessing my files across these devices. This functionality is crucial for me as it ensures that I have easy access to my work files wherever I am. I also find it useful that Dropbox allows me to share data in various formats with others online, enabling collaboration and backing up files efficiently. The feature that allows immediate online backup and accessibility for others is particularly beneficial. I use Dropbox to manage various types of data, and I like that it integrates with tools like Google or Excel Online, which enhances its utility for my work-related tasks. Overall, Dropbox serves all my purposes excellently, and I would rate it a 10 out of 10 and highly recommend it to others who have similar needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

I feel that Dropbox meets all of my needs, and I have not found anything that I dislike about it. I'm unsure of the solutions and features offered by other software, or how they would perform, but Dropbox completely meets my needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy Dropbox Access Anywhere for Simple Sharing"
4/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

Easy interface, and you can use it when you want it as you can put files in dropbox at home and look at these files whenever you need them...so long as you have wi-fi and can get onto dropbox to see your files. Great for sharing within families or business Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

They got rid of their lower tiers in terms of family /small business usage and that made it more expensive. Also- depending on the updates and operating systems used-you can have update issues. For ex. in our business, we did not want to upgrade certain IOS systems due to an oder computer and had to lose out on the use of dropbox as there were no fixes to use an older system. "Centralized Storage with a Reliable Backup, But Connectivity Hiccups"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

I like how Dropbox enables me and my team members to review, comment on, and update documents, presentations, and creative contents simultaneously. Dropbox helped me centralize file storage for documents, photos, videos, and various communication materials related to my work. I like the Automatic Backup and Syncing of files feature the most, as it securely backs up my files and documents, which is essential when working on creating various communication materials. Additionally, I find Dropbox easy to navigate based on my first encounter with the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

As I mentioned previously Dropbox needs a high-speed internet connection. So on some occasions, especially in low internet connections, malfunctions regarding uploading and syncing files could occur. If it would be possible, mechanisms for functioning well in low-speed connections would benefit me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless File Management for Students"
4/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

I use Dropbox mainly to organize, store, and back up my university files. It helps me keep my files organized and accessible in one place. I like how easy and convenient it is to use, especially because it's simple enough without needing too much technical knowledge. I can upload a file and know it'll be available across my devices, which is really useful when working between my phone and laptop. The initial setup was also very easy and straightforward. What do you dislike about Dropbox?

I dislike the amount of storage available on the free plan. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexible and multi-device cloud storage for working online"
5/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

Possibility of cloud storage from multiple devices; mobile, tablet, and PC. Add its potential to work online with more than one device connected to the same user account, allowing the storage of various files and digital formats. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

As a cloud storage platform and application, it only offers its users 2 GB of storage in its free version, or "free" version. It should, like other platforms, offer greater capacity in gigabytes for storing files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Reliable Collaboration Hub That Keeps Our Teams in Sync"
4/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

At Xrisi Efkeria Group, Dropbox has become an essential tool for keeping our teams aligned and productive, especially when managing multiple projects simultaneously across marketing and operations.

What I personally value most is how seamless collaboration is. For instance, when working on campaign assets or reports, different stakeholders can access the same files, leave comments, and rely on version history without worrying about overwriting work or losing track of updates.

It removes a lot of the friction typically associated with file sharing and ensures everyone is working on the latest version. The cross-device accessibility is also a big advantage, particularly when switching between office work and remote access.

Overall, it’s a very dependable solution that simplifies collaboration and keeps workflows moving efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

While Dropbox is very reliable, one challenge we’ve faced at is the pricing structure as our usage grows.

As we scale and handle more content-heavy projects (especially large marketing files like videos and high-res creatives), storage needs increase quickly. This often requires upgrading to higher-tier plans, which can become costly over time.

Compared to other cloud solutions, I would say Dropbox could offer more flexibility in pricing or more modular options, so companies can scale more gradually based on their actual needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast and easy file access anywhere"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

The best thing about Dropbox is that it is very easy to save, sync, and share files. I like that I can access my files from anywhere, and sharing them with others is simple and fast. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

Its storage fills very fast. I don’t like that Dropbox gives very little free storage. It gets full quickly, and some important features are only available in the paid plan. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Seamless Storage with Generous Free Options"
5/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

I use Dropbox for file and media storage because it allows me to access copies of my important work anywhere. I like that there is a free option and that it has ample storage from the start. I also appreciate that it is supported on multiple devices and can work anywhere with an internet connection. The size limit is higher and the transfer speed is better than the service I used before. The initial setup was very simple; I just used my Google credentials, and I was good to go in minutes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

I would like there to be an increase in the storage cap for free users. 1 TB would be a great starting point. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Sharing all good things!"
5/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

I have been part of a music group, and we have been using Dropbox to share thousands of songs with other musicians. It is easy to use, allows granular control over access, and offers a simple method for others to see what is being offered.

Adding access is simple, and the user is notified by email. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

Sharing a large Dropbox folder with someone who doesn't have an upgraded account can be difficult. Sharing "view only" should not require an upgrade. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient File Sharing with Some Search Challenges"
4/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

I use Dropbox primarily for sharing files, which has been incredibly helpful for both personal and business purposes, as well as unique projects. One of the biggest assists for me is handling large files that can't easily be sent via email but can be placed in Dropbox, making it much easier to manage significant amounts of data. I also like the notifications feature, which alerts me when something has been modified in the platform. This is a real time saver because it eliminates the need for other forms of communication like emails or phone calls. It's especially useful when multiple parties are involved and need to access changed files. Overall, these features make Dropbox a valuable tool for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

I feel like it's a little cumbersome inside as you dig down into files. Keeping things organized and how things are structured inside the platform with respect to the files can be a little confusing. I remember struggling a little bit with the setup. It wasn't a complete piece of cake, and there was a bit of confusion around the setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
