It works right inside Microsoft Windows, making it particularly easy to use. Plus, an optional Web browser interface extends the reach of files beyond the office walls. As files are saved into Document Locator, everything becomes full-text searchable. Versioning captures all changes, and workflow routes information for notifications and approvals. Files are organized with auto-naming and filing technology. Audit trails record all activities, and reporting provides insight for business intelligence. Things like the invoice number, PO number, or any similar identifier are part of what you can use to find what I'm trying to locate. **What do you dislike about Document Locator?** We currently only use this product in a limited capacity. My complaint would be more related to how my organization doesn't use it more efficiently. **What problems is Document Locator solving and how is that benefiting you?** We do not have to go looking for paper. This fundamental point has been well worth the investment. ### 2. That is one of the many reason I like working with DL because it is so easy user friendly and it helps keep everything so streamlined. **What do you dislike about Document Locator?** The only thing that I don't really like is the search function. I feel like it is hard to use, but it may just be user error on my end. **What problems is Document Locator solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have thousands of documents that we work with daily and DL allows us to keep the forms up to date easily and organized so anyone in the company can get to documents. DL also allows us to set permissions so that owners have access to confidential information and the other users don't even know those folders exist. ### 4. We've cut our document processing time by almost 50% while increasing document security, auditability and tractability. **What do you dislike about Document Locator?** At times the system can be a bit slow when chugging through a workflow. We manage this by executing multiple workflows at once. **Recommendations to others considering Document Locator:** Attend the DL Bootcamp, The week in Portland had my wheels spinning on how else we can implement DL in our day to day operation. **What problems is Document Locator solving and how is that benefiting you?** Control and Transmittal of Engineering Documents, CAD files and Vendor Documents. The interface is very easy and straightforward. Anyone with a basic understanding of search functions can use it. Recall of images is quick and the clarity is not lost with uploading/scanning multiple images. **What do you dislike about Document Locator?** Sometimes it is slow to load what I need, especially if a lot of users are on or if my search is too broad. **What problems is Document Locator solving and how is that benefiting you?** Central location for drawings and BOMs. ### 9. Ability to tag, categorize and standardize the document structure. Potential to use as a reporting tool, but unlikely due to not reliable data. **What do you dislike about Document Locator?** Did I mention slow? Opening files, working on files, the whole process of checking files in/out, everything is slow and frustrating, especially when you have to meet the deadline and need to make multiple small, last minute adjustments. Much easier to set a standard file handling procedure using standard windows/cloud based storage and train staff to follow the process. **What problems is Document Locator solving and how is that benefiting you?** Organizing internal files.
