Saved me time. I'm a marketer with no video editing background but I can now create and edit videos in no time. Editing videos before where I had to cut videos at the exact nanosecond and then stitch together etc was v tedious. Transcription is pretty good. If you have footage of people talking and you need to edit it - like a customer testimonial video or a podcast - there is no better tool than Descript. **What do you dislike about Descript?** There is a learning curve for anything beyond the basics and I haven't found a way to learn yet. Wish there was a descript academy or something like that so I can learn video editing in descript froms cratch because i have a feeling descript is a lot more powerful than the way I currently use it but I don't know how to access that knowledge. When I edit out filler words, there is a very obvious break from the previous word to the next and isn't as smooth as I'd like. While this is great for editing, I don't find it to be a great tool for video creation or more high level editing. Canva for example gives me templates I can play with and create good intros and outros and other things which I then export to descript to add to my edited video. My favorite thing about Descript is the ease of use. I can create everything inside of Descript, audio tracks, videos, social clips, blog posts, scripts for future content. And whenever I have a question, the Descript community in Discord is there to help out. Getting started with Descript is super simple and easy to walk through with clients who have never done any audio/video editing in their lives. **What do you dislike about Descript?** The only issue I run across on the regular is Descript not syncing properly between my 2 computers. If one of my computers has a new version of Descript, it can mess up my compositions and sometimes not even open them all together. It's usually a very short issue and resolved within an hour but it can be frustrating when needing to hop between machines. **What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?** Descript has made learning video/audio editing a breeze. Programs like Adobe Premier and Final Cut Pro were kinda daunting but Descript was easy to pick up and learn. I use it almost daily. It is continually launching new capabilities and improving existing features to keep the editing and production experience at the cutting edge of AI implementation. Last year, Descript acquired Squadcast.fm and provided Pro plan subscribers this premium remote guest audio and video recording capability at no additional cost. Within the last couple of months Descript launched new AI features to help users create scripts, speed and improve editing and generate chapters, social clips, YouTube descriptions, blog posts and more. Descript is the best audio and video production tool on the market. **What do you dislike about Descript?** The only downside I can think of is that new capabilities are being added all the time, so users have to make use of the frequent customer support videos and webinars describing the updates and the best ways to use them. I wanted to create an accessible podcast, so transcriptions were a must-have. However, I didn't want to pay for a separate service to transcribe the podcast for captions, and I didn't want to spend time doing them myself. Transcription is built in and fairly accurate on the first pass! The next issue was with being able to quickly edit the audio to remove filler words, stammering, etc - the "notepad" view again makes editing easy. The final one was being able to repurpose clips for social media - the ability to edit video AND leverage AI to find repurposable content streamlined that process. **What do you dislike about Descript?** I wish there were either a phone app or that editing via a web browser was mobile-friendly. **What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?** The whole production process - Descript's functionality not only gives me all the tools I need to produce my podcast. If I'd recorded an interview or an off the cuff teaching it used to take me hours to transcribe it, or I had to put it out without the accessibility features. Now it does in seconds what it used to take me hours to do. I can include closed captions, transcripts and audo only files, which make my courses so much more accessible. **What do you dislike about Descript?** I know it has the capability of creating videos but I don't know how to do that. The transcribing side is really easy - the creating side I've not a clue how to use. When I have tried it, it's been difficult and I don't know where to start. It also has constantly new updates, which is good in a way, because it's constantly expanding what it can do but it does mean you are having to relearn how it works every week or so. **What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?** I used to create videos by writing scripts and then auto cue them to camera. I needed to speak exactly to the script because I could then use the script to add captions (that still took me hours) and offer a transcript. Now I can speak directly to camera and tidy up any falters post editing, knowing that it's okay to go off script. I can get transcripts, closed captions and audio only files for videos to make my courses more accessible (as an ex-academic that's a big thing for me - to make my material accessible). So it saves me hours and hours of transcript - and it also makes the speech visual, which makes it so much easier to edit than having to listen and then work out where to pause and what to cut out. ### 8. It has sped up my creation work flow and takes a lot of of the tediousness out of the editing process. Along with the ease of editing I can also correct sound issues with a client of the studio sound effect. It has saved my videos many times when audio quality has been the best! I've started using Squadcast for my interviews as opposed to zoom and the integration, while it needs work, is pretty darned good! I use descript EVERY time I make a video and it has become invaluable. **What do you dislike about Descript?** As good as studio sound can be, you need to listen through everything to make sure words aren't being dropped due to the filter settings. This is NOT a full video editor! I normally pass video through descript and then work with the descripted version in a separate editor (Premier, ShotCut, etc.) The timeline isn't great either, so trying to minipulate anything via the timeline can be dicey. **What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?** I tend to stumble on words and verbally pause with umms and aaahs.
