How much does Descript cost in 2026?

According to G2 data, Descript pricing in 2026 starts at $16.00 and can reach $50.00 depending on the selected plan. Pricing may vary based on billing terms or usage, so users should review the Descript's official pricing page for the most current details.

Who is Descript pricing best suited for?

According to G2 reviewers, Descript's pricing is best suited for small business owners, solopreneurs, podcasters, and content creators who need an affordable alternative to hiring professional video editors. The Hobbyist and Creator tiers attract freelancers and independent creators in industries like marketing, health, media production, and professional training. G2 reviews from mid-market users highlight Descript's value for team-based podcast and video workflows. The Business tier suits growing teams needing collaboration and multilingual dubbing. Enterprise users in construction, healthcare, and online media appear on G2 praising advanced AI features, with the Enterprise tier addressing security and dedicated support needs for larger organizations.

What are the key differences between the free and paid versions of Descript?

Descript's free tier is limited to just 1 media hour per month with no AI credits, watermarked exports, and no access to Underlord or AI tools like Studio Sound and Remove Filler Words. G2 reviewers note the free plan is quickly exhausted, especially when experimenting with features. Descript's paid plans starting at $16 per month remove watermarks, unlock AI credits, and enable 1080p or 4K exports. Higher tiers like Creator at $24 add 4K export, stock media, and advanced AI tools, while the Business tier at $50 introduces team collaboration, video translation, and brand studio access unavailable on lower plans.

Is Descript considered good value for its pricing?

G2 reviewers overwhelmingly consider Descript good value, with the majority of small business users praising how it replaces expensive video editors and multiple tool subscriptions at an affordable monthly price. Reviewers across industries like marketing, health, and media production highlight that time savings alone justify the cost. However, some G2 users flag concerns about AI credit limits running out quickly, and a few note that pricing has increased significantly over time, with one enterprise reviewer mentioning costs jumping from $30 to hundreds monthly for high-volume teams. Students and casual users also find the subscription cost prohibitive. Overall, the high average rating signals strong value for regular content creators.

What do you like best about Descript?

I find Descript fast, which is crucial for my work, and it's affordable too. The AI features are awesome and they increase the speed of video editing significantly, which I really appreciate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Descript?

The audio enhancer. When you try to enhance the audio, it's not as clear cut out. So if they can improve that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Descript?

I like the AI interaction, though the AI credit usage is quick. Transcript editing seems good for clarifying unclear words or cutting pauses and ums. The AI also helps in creating clips and trailers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Descript?

I have a hard time with the learning curve for Descript. The subscription plans are confusing and there's no credit for unused subscriptions if I upgrade. The customer service is basically non-existent, just an AI bot. Some features require the business plan, like using my own branding assets, and I can't upload some video formats. The onboarding process isn't great, and I think they should provide more material for new users. Their system doesn't let me experiment freely at the learning stage since the AI credits run out quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
