You still have to manually remove the indirect contacts before merging Accounts. What would seem like a simple dedupe feature to cross reference a list of accounts and compare against our current database so we don't create duplicates doesn't exist. Their support line's recommendation is to upload the list of accounts, create duplicates then use their tool to dedupe. **Recommendations to others considering DemandTools:** Look into fully integrated tools in SFDC. There is one which you set up batch jobs and it dedupes automatically for you. If you have to upload a list of accounts into your instance and create dupes anyways, these other tools can scrub for your quickly. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** It maybe saves me 30 seconds to merge accounts as opposed to switching back to classic to and merging manually. It took me 2 hours to merge 100 accounts as the tool kept crashing on me. ### 12. Rather than having to segment out who is in the system and in what object (existing/non-existing Lead, Existing Contact, non-existent Contact at an existing Account,etc.), adding them to campaigns, and creating and assigning tasks in separate processes, I can do it all at the same time. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** The learning curve about which settings to use can take some getting used to, but learning has been quick with everyone I've trained. **Recommendations to others considering DemandTools:** This product works best in conjunction with it's 'sister product' DemandTools. PeopleImport handles importing complex lists of individuals and contact info. DemandTools imports/manages data in all other custom and standard objects. It also has built in tools that help keep data clean. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Imports of a random large list of people used to take up to 7 different processes and a few hours. Now I can import new people, update existing people, add them to Campaigns with statuses, and create and assign new tasks in one process. It now takes me around half an hour or less. ### 19. I cannot imagine life without this tool. Yes, it's a complex tool and difficult for most to set up but without it your data must be...awful. When you have an external list how can you possibly compare it to what you have without FindID? When you have duplicates how to you handle them--manually? Mass lead Conversions? No can do without DemandTools. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** Honestly, while it's a bit difficult to learn and you could make a major mistake if careless, that is the nature of data management. Data integrity supersedes having to learn and practice. **Recommendations to others considering DemandTools:** Either have your System Admin or Marketing train heavily (!!!!) or outsource the use fo this app to someone who is DemandTools Certified.You will likely never fully optimize your license cost otherwise. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Every data issue one can imagine in SF. Correcting existing data. Bringing in new data. Finding existing records and apopending my import file with the parent IDs (FindID). Duplicates, Job Builder for period summaries that rollups cannot handle. It's priceless. I make no money of DT sales. I truly do not know how orgs--big and small--have any data integrity without it. ### 21. It's not cloud-based so Mac users straight up can't have it. I use it for uploading lists of leads, and it dedupes contacts and leads simultaneously by using a powerful search function with several sets of criteria at once. This allows it to upsert the list as leads and contacts. It also has options for creating tasks and creating new accunts. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** I dislike that it is NOT user friendly. I find the software unattractive in appearance even though it's phenomenal once you start to use it. **Recommendations to others considering DemandTools:** This has a steep learning curve that is totally worth it. Set up and understanding the software takes a lot of time, but they do offer a thorough training. Mass updates, inserts and my personal favorite function; Find/Report IDs. All too often do I receive a list of necessary updates from users with no ID, this function is an absolute lifesaver. SIngle Table dedupe allows for easy data cleansing as well. I do also appreciate their willingness to build a free community and course set around DemandTools Certification. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** User interface can be a bit cumbersome with limited viewing space when setting certain criteria. The tool can be daunting to first time users. **Recommendations to others considering DemandTools:** The product is on the pricier side, however the depth and breadth of functions which the toolset can provide is incredibly valuable. But it goes beyond those Salesforce basics to do advanced functions where you can choose the Salesforce fields to update, ignore, or even merge, and provides advanced matching functions, like matching to nicknames, fuzzy match, and even AUDIBLE match where words/names that sounds similar will match. It allows you to Alpha clean data also in one fell swoop, ignore rows...WOW. It is very powerful. You can even fix errors in a Review stage before the final upload (at least to a small degree). **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** The interface looks incredibly dated - and there are many buttons to click and choose from, many that do exactly the same thing but are just repeated on the various screens. Clunky is the best word for it - or like those children's toys that have a ton of levers and buttons and some of them produce sounds and lights, different buttons and levers oddly product the same sounds and lights, and some buttons don't do anything discernible. There are many steps and the end goal can be accomplished in several ways. Often you're not even sure what you're looking at when you're looking at the Match Results and what the tool is telling you you're about to. Error log files are not usable as is - they're not fixable in Excel and then re-importable. The tool exports a bunch of code that is mostly unusable, so it's best to fix errors as you Review them in the tool. It's not a tool you can jump into and just figure out - you have to watch their YouTube videos, the only form of documentation available. The videos do not cover all the use cases you may have...so you have to just guess or reach out to the company and I've found their help personnel to be inadequate. You can't purchase the software without having to email or talk to a rep, you are invoiced with an invoice you have to print out...unbelievable in the world of today...but perhaps just fine for 1998. **Recommendations to others considering DemandTools:** Be prepared for a steep learning curve in the software, and multiple failed imports if your data is ever-so-slightly not in the right format as your Salesforce instance. Be prepared for time spent in parsing through Error logs to try to figure out what went wrong with your imports, and eventually just throwing large logs away since they're too large to try and sift through. Be prepared for a painful old-school purchasing process, minimal support - and a clunky interface that takes time to wade through. Is incredibly fast and pulls down data and updates way faster than you can do it with data loader. The logic on the dedupe is impressive and really helps you hone in on your duplicates. Powergrid is also especially powerful for people who are used to working in excel or have large numbers of updates they need to do in that manner. The Discovery tool is often forgotten but incredibly useful--essentially lets you throw a file up against Salesforce and report back matches, even if multiple found so you can merge and identify data. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** Having to reload metadata can take quite awhile in a large org--wish it did incrementals pulls on its own. Can be very slow navigating to different operations or objects in MassEffect. Unable to enter a custom SOQL (e.g. with a subquery) as the basis for the data pulled down. Powergrid is cumbersome in that you have to save your scenario to go back and refine/update unlike the elegance of massimpact. But beyond that, the CRM Fusion tools are well worth the investment. **Recommendations to others considering DemandTools:** Look closely at the entire suite of products offered by CRM Fusion. DupeBlocker is great. Very flexible and highly reliable. But if you don't use their Demand Tools product, you are totally missing out on an opportunity to take "bad data" off the table when discussing the positives and negatives of your business automation stack. I have actually implemented CRM Fusion tools at two different companies and now that I have moved on to a new organization, I hope to bring it here as well. Honestly, one of the best returns on investment of any such tool I have seen. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Poor quality CRM data. The need to conduct one-time data quality reviews. The ability to find suspicious duplicates, evaluate them, and ultimately merge them with the good data. The ability to put into place data governance controls ensuring persistence of data quality.
