I find Cribl easy to set up, integrate, and manage. I found the architecture easy to understand. I like filtering logs using basic Linux commands since we are all Linux-based on security tools, and people who are not comfortable with Linux can use the GUI. What I like most is the convenient visual interface for creating data processing pipelines and the flexibility of built-in functions. I can filter, transform, and mask data on the fly without complex scripts from scratch, which saves a lot of time. The Data Preview feature allows you to immediately see how logs will change before sending them to production. I believe that beginners may find it challenging: composing complex regular expressions and mastering advanced data transformation functions takes time, and a good understanding of log structure is necessary. The main difficulty during setup was designing complex filtering rules and regular expressions for our data structure. Cribl provides an incredibly flexible way to collect, transform, route, and manage data across a wide range of sources and destinations. Multi-user commits can be challenging. When working with teams making changes, updates can get pushed out for all edits before intended. It would be helpful to have updates limited to the engineer, submitting them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love the flexibility and the ability to customize any data to fit my requirements. I also appreciate that Cribl doesn’t vendor-lock me. I was able to integrate my data sources seamlessly and immediately see that the implementation was successful. This is a trick question, right? I still haven’t found a downside to Cribl. The only thing I’ve really had to do is sharpen my regex skills, but honestly that’s not a bad thing. To filter data, the entire stream has to be ingested before Cribl can apply filtering. Data Insights gives a solid view of sources, destinations, and flows, but there isn’t a tool that helps me understand how actionable the processed data is in an observability context. As a result, someone who knows the data well still has to decide what not to send to Cribl in the first place versus what to send and then filter out. My favorite thing about Cribl is its wide array of integrations and use-cases - it really does feel like a Swiss-army knife for building telemetry and enabling monitoring on my organization’s security data. As we continue migrating, I want my team move to lean even heavier into Cribl, to take advantage of the many useful features it has for reducing work and improving visibility for engineers, threat hunt, and higher management. Honestly, after developing in Cribl (migrating existing log ingestion pipelines to Cribl Packs) for the past 9 months, I have yet come across anything especially inconvenient. With the help of our SRA team as well as the resources like Cribl Docs and CriblU, I usually find Cribl has native solutions or work arounds to the tiny roadblocks I come across - usually at the fault of our own existing infrastructure and setup, rather than the tool itself. Because it breaks vendor lock-in, you have the flexibility to feed multiple tools simultaneously and tweak pipelines on the fly through its intuitive UI, turning a messy stream of noise into clean, actionable, high-value data. Cribl Lakehouse feels like an unnecessary layer of complexity when all you want is simple, scalable, and cost-effective data storage. Rather than delivering a seamless experience, it introduces management overhead, tricky configuration nuances, and performance trade-offs that make querying and managing historical log data far more frustrating than it needs to be. Instead of simplifying your telemetry ecosystem, it adds another proprietary silo that compromises flexibility, leaving you feeling locked in and bogged down by an architectural fit that just doesn't feel right for your workflow.
