After analyzing the Remote Support category on G2, the mechanisms these tools use to cut tickets and escalations actually split into a few genuinely different strategies: proactive fixing before a user notices, giving a tech deeper backstage access so they resolve rather than escalate, and consolidating tools so nothing gets lost in a handoff between systems.

Session handoff and mid-session tech additions are a specific pattern worth noticing, since they reduce escalations by keeping the same ticket moving forward rather than closing it and reopening a new one with a different tech, which is often where context and time get lost. What still tends to require escalation, based on these reviews, is anything that requires elevated system access beyond what remote tooling grants or a genuine hardware failure that no software layer can resolve, regardless of how smooth the session handling is.
The honest measure of whether one of these tools actually cuts tickets is probably the first-touch resolution rate, rather than total ticket volume, since a tool can reduce total volume simply by making it easier to close tickets without actually solving the underlying issue.
