Recognizing file types even with multiple nesting data is excellent compared to the competitors.

The SPAM detection rate is very good.

Sanitization feature works excellent, the documents look the same after sanitization compared to the competitors.

The Helpsystems knowledge base is not as good as it used to be with Clearswift. Finding solutions is complicated.

Possibility

- to block or sanitize active content.

- to have different quarantine folders which each represent the type of malware found.

The Licensing should be much easier. Why not activate all the stuff available within the software for one single price?

The fact is Clearswift has a 25+ year heritage in this space (Email Gateway) working with global organizations and adapting to advanced persistent threats with the latest research, insight and security tactics being used by malicious actors. The company vision is clear to help stop these evolving threats and work closely with security and internal technology teams to ensure the proper usage is put into practice from day one. What do you dislike about Fortra Secure Email Gateway?

There are difficulties and challenges in getting the message out to the marketplace when so many vendors are competing in the space or bundling similar technology products. The marketing traffic can become noisy and prevent companies from doing the proper research because they are in a rush for a band-aid to their problem. There is a disadvantage to Clearswift when other vendors are just shouting louder instead of delivering the solution. The little fish in the big pond applies here but we all know the story of Nemo or the little engine that could! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Solving against the latest phishing scams and protecting the existing proprietary data from data loss or leakage (DLP) has been a challenge for many organizations. Clearswift's latest tools help automate and enforce the security policies (one and done) by Clearswift's Secure Email Gateway (SEG) and one of the primary reasons so many customers realize the value of the product. Trusting a vendor today with your data is a privilege to the vendor and part of the relationship engagement, another value to the customer when deciding the Clearswift family of products. I really like their strong DLP (no false positives) but coupled with adaptive redaction and built in email encryption Clearswift secure us in a well rounded solution. Clearswift is SMG is a overall a very competent agile platform. The DLP (what I'm most familiar with) is very powerful and can be relied on to not give you false positives. The ability to redact PII data directly in your documents is great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Fortra Secure Email Gateway solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed to have solid DLP that would detect outbound PII and protect this. We needed encryption (when it was required) but also didn't need to encrypt the PII. I think Clearswifts SEG has one of the best SPAM engines.

Clearswift has primarily focused on unique business rules incorporating DLP with features such as optical character recognition as well as redaction of text

They are unmatched in that realm

The SPAM and threat detection technology could be enhanced

However, a significant SPAM enhancement was released with V5 summer 2020

and

Sandboxing will be introduced with 5.1 due out the end of 2020

What problems is Fortra Secure Email Gateway solving and how is that benefiting you?

Many organizations use Clearswift to adhere to their internal corporate requirements such as encryption, digital signatures, redacting/stripping out PII/PCI while allowing for the rest of the message to pass through

Often times when new requirements are required to be implemented, Clearswift will be introduced inline as opposed to a complete email gateway rip out and replace.

The ICAP Gateway has also be used by many Managed File Transfer customers for DLP to add DLP and threat prevention to their existing secure file transfer solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
