The platform’s features are exceptionally well-designed, catering to our needs and offering much more than we require. One of the standout aspects of their customer service is the extensive library of instructional videos available for practically every feature. The password reset feature does not work well for most employees. Checkwriters has allowed us to pare away 3 other timekeeping softwares and hours of manual entry into one seamless process. Our onboarding process has also gone from manual paperwork to an easy online step-by-step process. Each payroll we would have an extensive journal entry with recategorizing employee allocations - Checkwriters has completely taken that step out and it is all done for us. The implentation was very smooth and customer service has been incredible. I am just sorry we didn't switch to Checkwriters sooner! **What do you dislike about Checkwriters?** So far my only area for improvement is the knowledge base. Most items we've needed help with were not covered in the knowledge base, but this is where customer service has been great. I am also learning as I go with reporting, but I do wish there were some more reports already built in the system. **What problems is Checkwriters solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were having to do a lot of manual processes in order to complete payroll and to track PTO. Checkwriters has everything in one place and it all feeds to payroll for us. The decision to switch was not an easy one due to the work involved with transitioning. Our HR team spent several hours talking to sales reps and watching demos to explore the available options, updated technology, and additional features available to us. Among all the demos, CheckWriters stood out to us for many reasons. Our HR team met Account Executive, Chris Landy at the 2023 SHRM Conference. Six months after implementation, he continues to follow up with us to ensure that CheckWriters is fulfilling all our needs. They have a dedicated team for implementation and training. Kudos to Tracy Fleming and Kayla Goller for being instrumental in our success with this new platform. The service this team provides to their clients is leagues ahead of the giants in the industry. CheckWriters has several HR modules that we did not have before- allowing us to automate processes and save time. The Payroll Module is easy to learn and navigate and makes running payroll a breeze! The Recruit Module draws in numerous candidates because it pushes out to 100 job boards with a click of a button. The templates makes the screening and hiring process super-efficient and saves us extensive time. Changing providers is a long journey and certainly requires dedication and time. But, moving to CheckWriters was worth the time invested and leg work involved. They work in conjunction with you from day one to ensure success and they are always just an email or a phone call away. We are beyond happy with our decision to transfer to CheckWriters and we recommend it to any business looking for change, automation, better service, and cost savings! **What do you dislike about Checkwriters?** There are some options that we do not use right now, but will explore the options in the future. Really, there is not much that we dislike about CheckWriters. The reporting is a lot different that we are used to and it has taken some time for us to learn how to create the report templates. Many of the users of Checkwrtiers have used other software platforms and each one of the platforms has pros and cons. He is always very professional and efficient. James is always friendly....if he's having a bad day, I would never know it as he is always upbeat. And when James is not available to call our payroll in to, the other staff members have been very helpful as well. Checkwriters is always up to date with changes in tax laws, minimum wage standards, etc. as well, which makes our job easier. **What do you dislike about Checkwriters?** There really isn't anything that we dislike about Checkwriters. Occasionally the wait time on the phone can be lengthy, however if a message is left the call is returned in a reasonable amount of time. **What problems is Checkwriters solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have not had any real problems. James was helpful in updating our deductions and pay increases for 2024. ### 9. I appreciate their user portal's simplicity as well as their responsive and knowledgeable customer accounts specialists. Checkwrtiters has been able to accommodate our multiple companies and their unique payroll structures with ease. They offer a variety of timekeeping and payroll solutions, allowing for our company's growth and changing HR processes. They've also been very receptive to my feedback as a user and are constantly working to improve their software and offerings. **What do you dislike about Checkwriters?** Although I love that a human always answers the phone, it can sometimes be frustrating when I can't reach the customer specialists familiar with my accounts' particulars. I've also found a few areas where their software could be improved. I know they know where they have room to improve and have plans to address them soon. **What problems is Checkwriters solving and how is that benefiting you?** Checkwriters has helped streamline and automate our payroll process by reducing the time it takes to process payroll for multiple companies each week. I'm doing much less manual entry and calculations than I was previously. Their time off center has also made the process of employee time off requests and manager approval of those requests much more manageable than our previous pen-and-paper method. Their portal allows easy and secure employee information management as well as easy-to-use reporting functions. One of the top things your company did was take on the Simple IRA deferrals. **What do you dislike about Checkwriters?** Because I was self-sufficient and did most of the work on your online portal, There wasn't much interaction with your company. I honestly can't say there was anything I disliked. But if I have to give an example, there was one time I was on hold for way too long. **What problems is Checkwriters solving and how is that benefiting you?** Taking care of our Simple IRA deferrals. It helps us reduce the time it takes to log in, do the deferrals, and track the deferrals. Taking care of the Withholdings, which takes the tracking and responsibility of logging into multiple sites to pay. I like that they are willing to keep doing it "old school" for us without pressure to have us key our own payroll. **What do you dislike about Checkwriters?** High rate of payroll representative staff turnover, frequently training someone new to handle our complicated payroll. I have had over 10 reps in my 10 years working with them. **What problems is Checkwriters solving and how is that benefiting you?** Checkwriters benefits us by doing our payroll - we are a small school with lots of part-time and temporary employees. We have several different payroll cycles, 12 month, 10 month and week to week. It was at first difficult to find our files on the website, but we've gotten the hang of it over time. I'm not sure how this compares to competitors. **What do you dislike about Checkwriters?** The user interface online can be challenging to learn at first. I wish there was one or two designated people helping us when we have questions. It seems that every time we have a question or need help, a different person helps us. Sometimes the person helping us is really great and super responsive. Other times the person helping us doesn't seem to be very familiar with their job. **What problems is Checkwriters solving and how is that benefiting you?** We don't have time or the expertise to do our own payroll or hire a person that could do it for us, so in this way, Checkwriters is really helpful. They answer questions quickly, even if I've asked it multiple times. They get the payroll right. They send notifications that your payroll is done. They send notifications if there was an "oops" on their end, which is pretty rare, before you discover it. They provide all the w-2's needed at the end of the year about 2 weeks before the due date. If your account person is not available, someone else is covering. They send in the payroll taxes to the state & irs. It's all pretty painless. As I understand it, they are much less expensive than their competition. I knew a sales guy for one of the other payroll companies, and he said in 4 years, he was never able to convert a Checkwriter's client to his national/regional payroll service. There are multiple times one clicks "submit", when it seems only one should be necessary. They also sequence things using the tabs at the top of the section rather than a "next" button down at the bottom. I have gotten used to this, but it seems a bit odd and more complicated than necessary. This could be because I have only 2 people, and these things are needed for more complicated companies with more complex payroll situations. It would be nice if there were an interface more streamlined for the small office. These are picky little things, but after 2 years, I still find them a bit jarring. I can see all the data from the downloads. There has never been an instance where they got it wrong. We have lots of season employees so it's easy to schedule different pay rates during various pay periods. Love the online ability for employees to look at their payroll info. **What do you dislike about Checkwriters?** It used to be that there was no online help, but they have fixed that. Can't think of much else we dislike. **What problems is Checkwriters solving and how is that benefiting you?** Allows us the freedom of having to mess with W-2's at year-end. They answered all of my questions and did a lot of the "heavy lifting" that made the process seamless for us internally. **What do you dislike about Checkwriters?** I was hoping the timekeeping system would work for us, but, unfortunately, it didn't. We need a more robust timecard download for grant purposes and haven't found it yet. I appreciate the team continuing to work with us and find a great solution, though! **What problems is Checkwriters solving and how is that benefiting you?** Payroll has never been easier! Still working through timekeeping, but I am hopeful this will be a robust solution to tracking time for grant reporting as well as time off requests to help the team see when others will be out of office. **Official Response from Dakota Hebert:** > Thanks for the A+, what an endorsement!
