## About CAM-TOOL
CAM-TOOL is a CAD/CAM system optimized for high-accuracy 3D machining, making it particularly well-suited for mold and die manufacturing and other applications where surface finish and geometric accuracy are critical. It is designed to improve overall lead time—not only machining time, but also downstream work such as polishing and fitting/spotting. By generating stable toolpaths for complex 3D geometry and hard-milling workflows, CAM-TOOL helps shops achieve consistent surface results, reduce rework, and extend tool life. The rest of the description, especially around lead time reduction and downstream benefits (polishing, fitting, spotting), aligns very well with how customers actually experience value from CAM-TOOL. At the core of CAM-TOOL is a hybrid CAM engine (polygon and surface calculation). This approach supports efficient toolpath generation from complex CAD data and helps maintain surface continuity where it matters most in tooling work. The result is a practical balance of accuracy, stability, and productivity for day-to-day mold machining. CAM-TOOL supports common milling workflows including 3-axis and 3+2 positioning, with simultaneous 5-axis available when required for specific geometries. It is commonly used for cavity/core machining, electrodes and tooling components, and other applications where surface consistency and reduced benchwork directly impact delivery speed and quality. Key benefits include: improved surface consistency that can reduce polishing effort, more predictable machining that can help reduce fitting/spotting and rework, longer tool life through stable cutting conditions, and shorter total lead time from programming to finishing.

  ### 4. High End Die/Mold CAM Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven E. | Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2020

**What do you like best about CAM-TOOL?**

CAM-Tool generates very accurate & smooth Die/Mold tool paths very efficiently. It generates tool paths based on the actual surface & not on some polygon rendering that needs to be tweaked to get the polygon bumps down to the smoothness required. I have tried other Die/Mold CAM programs to generate the same code would take hours to generate while CAM-Tool does it in mere minutes. I have used the software for over a decade & have rarely had to edit any NC code. CAM-Tool is able to calculate up to eight separate tool paths concurrently. Most tool paths are not directly related to the previous, thus not require any recalculation of later strategies. Very rarely does this software crash.

**What do you dislike about CAM-TOOL?**

CAM-Tool is designed for milling machines only. Any lathe type machine would require manual programming the turning operations, or another CAM software to generate the turning tool paths. Software is geared toward smaller parts, so rendering large parts can be time consuming. CAM-Tool creates a stock model for each optimized tool path. These stock models can quickly fill a hard drive.

**What problems is CAM-TOOL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Direct milling of harden tool steels up to 65 Rc. Nearly polish free surface finishes off the mill. Reduced the amount of EDM work to a minimum. Reliable, edit free NC code. Three to five axis simultaneous milling with full machine verification.

**What do you like best about CAM-TOOL?**

CAM gives an excellent and more solid completion - there is no human mistake.

With the help of a cam, you can efficiently manufacture convoluted items
Work costs are low.

You can use buttons to utilize, and it very well may be convoluted, yet you will get used to it; sit back and relax.

**What do you dislike about CAM-TOOL?**

Very little is easy to use the operating framework.

As it, huge software expectation to learn and adapt is huge and troublesome.

**What problems is CAM-TOOL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Roll out specific improvements in the simplified process that help advance the essay.

**Official Response from Ryo Ishiyama:**

> Thank you very much for writing the review of CAM-TOOL.
The point you dislike, such as very little easy to use is the major issue for us.
One of our biggest decision is that we implemented the tree view at Version 16.
Changing the user interface can make the novice user adapt easier to the software but it can also confuse experienced users. We will restructure our software passionately for both novices and veterans.
If you have any idea to improve CAM-TOOL, I would like you to send an e-mail or make a call to our support.

  ### 6. Elite Die/Mold Software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Doug S. | CNC Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2021

**What do you like best about CAM-TOOL?**

CAMTOOL is our go to software for small to medium size mold components. No other software has been able to perfrom as well when cutting hard materials and intricate details/deep ribs. Tool life and surface finish has been greatly improved since switching to CAMTOOL. Because of the stock model feature there is very little wasted motion/air cutting. It also makes re machining operations a breeze as the software knows exactly what areas need to be re cut. The software also allows us to use the same DIA cutter with different lengths to reach into deeper areas like ribs. The software will automatically generate the toolpath based on the length of tool and remove unwanted tool path for each longer tool. This allows us to cut as much of the material with the shorter more rigid tool. CAMTOOL is also always upgrading and improving the software, adding additional features and improving the user experience. The local support has always been very helpful with solving problems and providing training to new and existing users.

**What do you dislike about CAM-TOOL?**

Some of the more simple 2D toolpaths can take more time to setup compared to other softwares. However, once you are comfortable with the workflow it becomes a non issue.

**What problems is CAM-TOOL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Better tool life in harder materials and improved surface finishes. Also, less programming time for intricate detail and fast calculation times.
