"Great software that is developing into more."

What do you like best about Bloc?

I really enjoyed working with the Blocs app. The software was intuitive to use and forums and customer service was great. It is nice to see that they are continually improving the software and more features are being added. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bloc?

There were definitely limitations to the software as it is still a work in progress. I had several times I had to change direction for a page of a site because the software didn't have the capabilities I needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Bloc?

You can move at your own pace. It really fits into the working professionals schedule. The price point is also much lower than alternatives (however the quality is lower as well) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bloc?

They have no idea what they are doing. The content is out-dated. The mentors are barely vetted and not onboarded or trained at all. It is a solid business model but it is being run by idiots. If they continue on the same path they have for the past year, I can't see the business staying afloat. Students are not getting their money's worth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Bloc:

Do your research. Your experience can be greatly improved by the right mentor. Finding that mentor is tough. Even with the right mentor, the curriculum is horrible so you better be ready to do a lot of legwork to fill in the gaps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Bloc solving and how is that benefiting you?

The benefits are that I can work this into my very busy schedule. However it feels like a huge waste to work it into my schedule considering its essentially self study with minimal direction and terrible structure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Bloc?

You're given access to the entirety of the course from day one and can move at your own speed. You get a wide selection of mentors to choose from which is both good and bad when it comes to finding the right one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bloc?

The course content is dated and doesn't keep up to date with current programming patterns. The flow of the lessons doesn't make sense, jumping back and forth between frameworks and technologies at seemingly random. The mentors have no training and most don't have the background or experience to even hold their position. Many of the full time employees are Bloc graduates that have some how made their way into "senior" ranks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Bloc:

If you want to save money and don't mind doing all the work this is probably the most inexpensive product to do so. Just know that your Mentor is most likely not trained or skilled to help assess you and the course work requires you to do a lot of self study and research through Google because its not kept up to date. If you have the drive to do all the work yourself you're probably better off finding other free resources to learn the language of your choice.

If you want to actually learn something and find work in a computer programming field try a different company. HackReactor has a known track record and there are more schools popping up every day that aren't run by a group of unqualified, unethical morons. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
