## Basecamp Reviews
  ### 1. The Best Project Management Software Available!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt S. | Instructional Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp is the most user-friendly project management software. It's easy to navigate, use, and manage projects--both individually and with teams and clients.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Honestly, there really isn't anything I don't like about it.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time! How can we be more efficient with our time? Basecamp helps me not only manage time more effectively, but its simple interface allows me to find what I need quickly.

  ### 2. Get organized and efficient project management with Basecamp

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Beth G. | Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

It is a fantastic tool that has allowed me to have all my projects organized in a single proforma, I can archive documents, discuss through a chat with co-workers who are involved in the tasks, manage the calendar of the projects to be carried out and the days to be carried out; apart from creating work groups such as marketing groups and sales groups. It is a fundamental tool for companies.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

To use Basecamp most efficiently, it must have a consistent bandwidth and although this is something not so important, its cost is a little high.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using Basecamp for over a year now, it has allowed me to better organize my projects and helps me to have a more organized work environment where everyone involved can talk to each other through this platform without the need for a meeting. It has allowed me to carry out large projects with both internal and external people. Basecamp integrates everything we have been needing to carry out organized and efficient project management.

  ### 3. Amazing Product Management Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas D. | Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Super easy to use and navigate. The API that we have integrated with has a lot of benefits that really help us manage our workloads across multiple teams. We've tried using other platforms such as Trello - which is good, but it has a very steep learning curve for the team and does require a lot of patience to get going

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

For the price, there are too few features that other competitors have. When a new feature is announced, it typically takes a long time for it actually to be implemented.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The first is project management and organization. We are using this to help increase productivity between our teams. The second is for client approval - Basecamp has really good feature to allow for client approval/comments

  ### 4. Friendly Experience

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madhav P. | Back End Engineer Intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

The way I can manage the user control and groups is effortless managing my team has been never easy which has been made easy using basecamp i haven't used many other management software but this one is good

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

I can't set my working days precisely to set up the check-ins to stop prompting users on holidays there should be an option to select proper working days

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The way i can manage my employee's time schedules , leave schedules and even manage to give them their daily tasks to-do is very easy
Having all of details of task on one click and checking the progress is good

  ### 5. The most simplistic and user friendly project management application out there.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

I love the ability to have everything about any one of my projects all in one place and the ability to collaborate with all stakeholders involved.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

When I search in Adminland, I am not able to filter through the projects in a way, but I have to scroll through all of them till I find the one I looking for.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basecamp solves my organization's ability to collaborate with partners outside of our organization. This makes us more productive and has increased our organization's performance by maximizing our ability to fulfill the needs of our stakeholders.

  ### 6. Great project management software!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp's strength is how easy it is to use. Accessible to people new to project management and features for more advanced users. It allows our team to communicate very well.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

I would love built-in gantt charts and am unsure how to use the new "card table" feature alongside tasks. It would be great to have the ability to drag tasks to kanban style decks.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basecamp is helping to keep my students engaged and on track with their projects. We've also managed to stay very connected across several sites. It has helped us be more productive and feel more connected to each other.

  ### 7. One of the tools for project management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Margaret L. | Engineering Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp is a simple program that allows users to see the assignment and its due date, as well as attachments and descriptions. They've also included a Files and Uploads folder structure so that users may simply upload documents. You may also communicate with your colleagues by sending texts. I've never had a problem with the applications, i've been using Basecamp for a few years and am pleased with it.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Because the Kanban board was missing our customer was unsure of the actual state of the assignments. Also the many types of graphs and charts are missing, making it difficult to check them. Despite this, as I previously stated, I am pleased with this device; however, you must consider the price, since it is high.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basecamp has been a fantastic tool for us. We began using Basecamp more than two years ago. We've got so many advantages that we can easily add and manage the 100+ coworkers here. We can develop, work, and keep track of everything. Previously, we utilized Sheets to handle homework, but after that, we chose to switch to Bsecamp, where our work was cut in half and schoolwork was managed more efficiently and productively.

  ### 8. Excellent for managing projects and resources.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul L. | Senior Project Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp includes simple automation features, as well as a collection of templates from which to chose and modify to fit your needs. I enjoy how simple it is to add information to column characteristics, such as dropdown choices. It's simple to add collaborators and check who else is on the sheet at the same time.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

I believe it lacks some mathematical tools; if I needed to generate calculations, I would have to leave Basecamp and go to Excel. I also dislike the fact that universal administrators cannot view all documents or adjust their security settings. We need to track down the individual who created the sheet and convince them to modify it.

**Recommendations to others considering Basecamp:**

Basecamp offers software training. I highly recommend going there as it requires a little learning, but once you learn it will make things easier. It will help you generate alerts and get going, if you have multiple departments with very different disciplines or duties, it can be difficult to organize but with some effort the end result certainly fantastic.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The difficulties being tackled are regular areas of contact between our company's many departments. Learn ways to improve communication. It is used for IT tickets, meeting notes, and collaborative spreadsheets. It simplifies note taking and collaborative workbooks. Email triggers can also be created using the built-in automation tools.

  ### 9. Good Experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charlotte P. | Business Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Easy to communicate with clients and share tasks with clients and others.

Good to be able to manage workload and see if tasks are overdue.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Adding clients has now become more hard work.

Dupliate emails and clients get annoyed with the constant email reminders regarding tasks.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Able to manage workloads by having tasks set.

  ### 10. The Best and Simplest Project Management AND Team Comms Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael L. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

The project management tool simple and effective, but I also love having all of our team communications in the same place.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Like any software, there's a small learning curve. But this is methodology related, not necessarily technical.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Task management, project management and internal comms all handled in one spot. Keeps our team focused and productive.

  ### 11. I have been using BC since end of 2016.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vivienne B. | Associate professor, editor-in-chief, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

I can't do without BC. I can manage all my team projects easily. Communications are open and transparent, but also private with Ping.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

It is not multilingual. It would be nice to have a Gantt chart created from to-do's with deadlines.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Without BC I would not be able to run my business, my journal, my research projects.

  ### 12. Great ability to organize workflow and great functionality to manage projects.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marilyn S. | Project Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

I presently use Basecamp to arrange my monthly tasks and to check off the stuff I have finished for the month. It's also useful to have a live spreadsheet that numerous people may update in real time. I enjoy how the dashboard displays summary information. The system's organization is also quite simple to use; there are options to filter and see information based on what you're looking for.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Basecamp isn't as collaborative as I'd like, it's difficult to work with team members on the same sheet at the same time and the system doesn't update automatically for each user like online Excel documents I think it would be nice if there was a tab like Excel. I would like to be able to copy and paste data from an Excel spreadsheet, but importing it will ruin the data already in Basecamp. It also simplifies the selection and formatting of column and row functions.

**Recommendations to others considering Basecamp:**

Basecamp is a handy tool for project management and workflow management. It can monitor projects and present summary data information. Basecamp is a great tool for exchanging information and improving team cooperation.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The solution with Basecamp is to have one sheet that can be changed as many times as needed rather to having dozens of excel documents. Solves the problem of having numerous Excel sheets on our server and changing the wrong one by accident. I use Basecamp to manage projects and monitor activities, proposals, and each stage of the process for all of the projects that we produce at the firm. It is advantageous to be able to easily change fields in Basecamp and share information with different teams inside the firm.

  ### 13. Well-designed software to manage projects, tasks and improve team collaboration.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madeline R. | Project Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

The ability to organize tasks, create several projects, provide access to particular users and authorization levels per user, and the data charts/reports that Basecamp allows me to run. The automated notifications and ease of use definitely set this product apart from the competition.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

There is no auto-save option, and I would like to see additional connectors, particularly with Paperform. Plus further instruction on how to configure Basecamp logic so you can utilize it even more than I do today. The corporation has done a dismal job of resolving vulnerabilities. Our first concern is system security, and they need to do a better job of communicating to the consumer base via mass email about how they are dealing with the problem.

**Recommendations to others considering Basecamp:**

Basecamp is a wonderful alternative if you need to link several departments, coordinate tasks, and save household data. I've used five other solutions, and let's just say they have a very effective marketing staff, which is probably why they made the list of the top PM software solutions on the market. I can honestly say this solution speaks for itself.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We maintain track of project schedules the majority of tracking is simplified and automated using Basecamp. Another critical component was the standardization of procedures that require permissions, which was made possible by their multi-level approval systems, which are ideal for coordinating purchases or informing particular groups of individuals after generating a queue, Basecamp is also used to maintain fundraising statistics, store everything from Wordpress links to Google Sheets, and inform internal accounting when a payment is due.

  ### 14. Great for managing projects and collaborating with others.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gaurav S. | Senior Business Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

I found Basecamp to be a very easy-to-use project management tool. Having it helps you work with different types of organizations like different agencies, different clients, etc. Using this project management tool, you can keep them all organized. Furthermore, this tool allows you to save all your chats, which is very useful.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

There are no basic features available such as Gantt charts, subtasks, time tracking, and global visibility across multiple projects. For standard project management requirements, additional integrations are needed.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basecamp helped us communicate with different clients in one basic tool while working with a variety of agencies. Communication was easy and it was easy to see how each project is progressing and documenting all the conversations for future reference.

  ### 15. Dynamic Software That Can Be As Simple Or Sophisticated As You Need

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

We truly valued the interface for not just our internal teams but for our client portals as well. Basecamp is one of the first steps in scaling up your business, and as a result, makes project management, organization, and taskwork a much more streamlined process.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Despite the great things we got from it, there are always limitations to software that don't surface until you've been using it for quite some time. Our issues for the company were not so much Basecamp's fault - we had particular needs from our internal processes that Basecamp could not have foreseen.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basecamp solves task management in a clean and simple interface for companies across virtually any industry. To be honest, it might be the most organized UI I've ever worked with when it comes to project management.

  ### 16. Basecamp – one roof for all projects

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juliet A. | Senior Brand Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp is usually more focused on team coordination and client-company relationship betterment. At basecamp, you can communicate with fellow team members just like you do on a regular social media platform. Moreover, you can also create a client-based project, which means this project will be focused on how and what clients’ needs and demands are. The cherry on top is that you can add clients to the specific projects for keeping them informed in the loop.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Customization is a crucial and important part when you are trying to manage a project on a platform. Basecamp is all gold and glittery but customization is something that they do not offer very often and it can create issues at times.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basecamp is actually a great asset when it comes to creating a backup for all data in one place. All team members can utilize it to keep everything safe and secure. It also offers numerous unique features, including built-in communications features, it is super easy to learn and is very favorable when it comes to using it even for the first time.

  ### 17. Basecamp has been invaluable to my work

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp is very user-friendly and keeps everyone on task. Keeping messages in a constant thread organizes our work in ways that wouldn't be possible otherwise.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Having functionality for live documents would allow all to contribute. Uploading a new version each time is clunky and results a long list of previous versions.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As the staff to a committee of volunteers, Basecamp provides a place for all of our work to live. Everyone has access with only one account necessary. I have shared the benefits with all of my colleagues.

  ### 18. A best tool for project management and task management.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohd Shoeib A. | Senior Web Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp is very useful for managing the projects and tasks in it. it helps me to define the project's timeline and helps to organize the bigger task to into smaller ones. it has a good UI easy to use program which helps the naive person to understand and organized the tasks with the timeline.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Basecamp doesn't provide the file and sheet to be in preview mode on images that can be previewed in it. other extensions of files cannot be viewed in it which is a major drawback in it.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it helps me to track day by day progress of the project with the timeline to the tasks and define the project in different sub-categories which helps to organize in different stages of the project.

  ### 19. Jaw breaker with its capability to break down a project into boards, then into task lists.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** darshana r. | Senior Database Administrator, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

Great software with time tracking and expense management.

**Recommendations to others considering Basecamp:**

Super efficient with sharing large project files. Reliable for time tracking and expense management. Efficiency with team collaboration and instant messaging.

Excellent for task prioritization and assignments.

Great for sharing large project files.
Intuitive user interface.
Excellent for expense management.
Efficiency with project collaboration.

  ### 20. Great platform to organize workflows and production management.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sabrina W. | Senior Project Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

The ability to organize all your in-house projects and easily track due dates is great. I love being able to export to make myself stand out when I need to communicate with clients and view their progress. We've turned it into a straightforward online process that allows you to search individual pages in a paper-based manual process and send push notifications and reminder emails.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

From time to time, the website may crash and users may not be able to log in. It lasts only a few minutes, but there can be important moments that affect our day-to-day operations. I wish there was another program that could be integrated into the system so that the monitors could be extracted automatically. It's the manager's name, but it's a small complaint and it doesn't matter to us.

**Recommendations to others considering Basecamp:**

Take the time to learn about all of Basecamp features and functions. There are several methods to gain benefit from this program. It is possible to speed up your business by taking the time to set it up right and test it before going live.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basecamp helped us see the average time employees spend on their projects, by entering the formulas I created to determine the expected time and the time spent in or under the project, i helped the employee evaluation process. Improve productivity and response time for multiple teams, leverage dashboards and summary reporting capabilities to quickly and easily identify data views and trends and identify and fix issues faster than previous processes.

  ### 21. BC has been my ace in the hole, the last 12 years, as CEO.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vanessa C. | Ceo, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

I love to consolidate in one place, my organization, my teams, the info and fup of all the projects

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

There are no downsides for me in basecamp, that's why I haven't changed the past 12 years.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track and collaboration bw coworkers has been fundamental in our company success

  ### 22. Not good experience

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karol S. | Customer Success Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

It worked pretty well as long as there were 5-10 employees within the company. It's affordable and easy to manage, and I'm sentimental about it as it was my first tool in my first job.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

The bigger the scale, the more significant the communication problems using Basecamp. Also, the UI was always a bit heavy for me, the colours etc. It wasn't great to start the day off looking at Basecamp.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It addresses the communication matter within the company, and that's the first tool we used, the to-do list. It helped us open our minds to a different management patters.

  ### 23. Great, simple yet useful

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martin K. | Marketing Specialist SK/CZ, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp solves the single-handed work with to-dos - tasks, their management, distribution, user login. The tool is sufficient for complicated tasks, but it can easily handle them with its simplicity.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

The last version brought partition management, but it is not usable for working with kanban, which is a pity.

If the function worked at the level of a tuple, it could be used for kanban , unfortunately it can't be used this way.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solved a problem in task management in the marketing department of about 6 people and in the operations department of about 4 people while allowing external collaborators to join.

  ### 24. Improves the way to create a task elaboration system

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vasili Z. | Full Stack Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp has an incredible capacity in terms of deployment and support, it's phenomenal how fast it responds. It has been very good for structuring tasks at my convenience, notably, it has been very important for activating user databases with tasks assigned according to their profile. Everyone collaborates in the main panel.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

I don't like that the interface has everything accumulated in one place, they should create subfolders of functionalities that resemble the line of tools you want to use, this way it doesn't take long to find the right functionality.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Basecamp to modernize project management, we notify users of the tasks to be performed and without a doubt, the process is clean, very durable and very responsive in each task management. We improve the guidelines and we are all in the same constant interaction towards the stated goal.

  ### 25. Our top choice for managing proejcts

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristeen W. | Global Marketing Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Since we started using Basecamp, our team has found it much easier to communicate with one another. We can all stay up-to-date on what's happening in a timely and practical way. The groups and subgroups feature lets us share info without disturbing people who don't need it. And coworkers can also send each other direct messages through Basecamp. Everyone is kept informed about all the projects by Basecamp.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

The main disadvantage of Basecamp is that it can be challenging to keep track of everything since there is no central location for all the information. Basecamp can lead to missed deadlines or overlooking important details. Another potential downside is that some people find the user interface confusing and hard to use.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When working as part of a group on a project, it is essential to communicate with your coworkers and monitor the progress of your work.

  ### 27. Just go away Basecamp.

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

The only main seller for Basecamp is in its name and history in this space. That's about it.

Basecamp was revolutionary when it first came online and sure, it probably helped organize and build successful companies in the past. Rework was and still is a great book by the founder of Basecamp but it seems that after the book's release, they failed to follow or even eat any of their own "dogfood".

A rough breakdown IMO of their success and downfall...

1999: Founded
2001 - 2007: Cool stuff
2007 - 2013: Golden Years
2013 - 2017: The struggle into stagnation
2017 - Present (2022): Dinosaur era / Extinction

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

* This is the nostalgic old tool that longtime marketing managers and PM's rebuy whenever they need to quickly source a project management tool. It's just familiar and routine to them. It's god-awful for the actual people working in the trenches (I'm forced to use it for a sub-contract client's projects, which has severely impacted my time and broken my project management processes. I use Plutio).

* The product and UI have not changed one bit to adopt new and proven UI practices

* No noticeable updates. It resembles those times when you go to visit your great uncle's house and it still has the same smell, decor, layout, etc.

* It's a one-way, non-customizable experience. You either stick to using their concrete framework and lack of customization options or you can't play in the Basecamp sandbox

* Chat function lacks any editing, rich text, or reaction features (emoji's are here because they 100% have become a faster way of communicating thoughts)

* Highly unorganized linear flow. For example, if you have to find a document or thread topic from weeks prior, you have to go back up the stack and then navigate downwards through other modules, rather than just have a stagnant floating menu or variables

* Chat has no code or additional text formatting options

* Markdown is not supported

* Basecamp's website is really slow and the lack of a modern JS static framework is noticeable. This is both time-consuming and highly carbon inefficient when it comes to a website and server having to reserve all of the page's files when a new tab is opened. Switching between pages is obnoxious

* File uploads and downloads are slow

* Notification emails are often lost or not sent (lack of granular preferences too)

* Integration with other file management solutions seems non-existent

* Search feature is very limited and not regex friendly, no advanced filter options

* Repeating from another user's review: "Team Activity overview on any given project seems to be about 70% whitespace. You have to scroll quite a bit to see everything."

* No actual desktop client so you're forced to use it in a browser

* There are few integrations so tracking projects and work requires a ton of copy/pasting and using other tools alongside this

* Overpriced

**Recommendations to others considering Basecamp:**

Take a look at Plutio, Notion, Monday or any other modern project management tool.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They still exist for old-school managers to satisfy their familiarity with web 1.5 products. BASECAMP DOESN'T BENEFIT my company. It is eating away at our internal time and productivity.

  ### 28. Basecamp - Keep all your client contact in one space

**Reviewed by:** Alexandra E. | Manager Workplace Management, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp is an excellent tool for organizing and sharing information with others. I particularly find the calendar tab useful for tracking upcoming and past events when collaborating with clients. It's easy to get started - simply initiate the process whenever you wish. The Messages section is one of my favorite elements because it keeps all of a company's communications in one location, which comes in handy since email can be easily misplaced and ignored. If you are working on multiple projects simultaneously, Basecamp also makes it simple to create standardized checklists that serve as starting points for each project. Overall, I have found it effortless to use Basecamp in a client-facing capacity at my company, where we have a stable monthly schedule.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

I found the constant alerts and forced inclusion of irrelevant threads annoying.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By maintaining constant communication and staying organized, our team is able to show clients our progress and engage in conversation as they observe the completion of the task.

**Reviewed by:** Kristina H. | Marketing Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp is an excellent tool for managing projects and tasks, especially for small businesses. It's easy to use and keeps everything organized in one place so you can see your progress and that of your teammates. I like the To-Do list feature, which allows you to track all the tasks that need to be completed. Not only does it help me stay motivated by seeing my To-Do list getting smaller as I complete each task, but it also comes with its reminder system, which means I don't have to waste time constantly reminding people what needs to be done.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

The lack of focus on individual projects and the primary focus being group discussion was frustrating, as I felt it detracted from productivity.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Start using Basecamp, and miscommunication will be drastically reduced and eventually eliminated from the project.

  ### 33. Good Project Management software

  ### 34. Solid collaboration app

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter H. | Project Manager, Enterprise Projects and Real Estate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp is an excellent platform for managing projects and collaborating in real-time with the rest of the team, from my perspective. I love how easy it is to create subtasks within larger projects, manage multiple projects at once, and divvy up work between different teams. The Basecamp team's commitment to their customers is praiseworthy, and my coworkers and I had no trouble learning how to use the software.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

The only difficulty I encountered was opening Excel files, which required downloading them to my computer. A quick preview option is required in such cases. The file had to be re-downloaded to my computer for subsequent viewings.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a tremendous relief to have software that allows different teams within an organization to easily organize and share data about their projects and tasks, as well as add notes and retrieve the information they require. As a result, we have been able to increase productivity while maintaining consistency.

  ### 35. Basecamp- the project management tool

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp is a one stop shop for organizations, we can use basecamp for different project managments, chatting with our team members, add to do tasks and monitor the regular activities, check in s and check out etc

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

on Basecamp we cannot essentially add new team members to our existing chat threads

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basecamp provides all tools at the organizational level. It acts as task management, project management, tracking system and internal chatting and lean project creations

  ### 36. Extremely versatile and useful project and team management

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

The schedule, todo list and campfire chat are the most used features in my small team.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

I can't really think of anything that is least helpful or that I dislike.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main issue I have is managing tasks to be done and deadlines and Basecamp is great for both of these things in both business and home life. It's been invaluable to keep track of a number of large, lengthy projects over the last few years.

  ### 37. Great tool if you work remotely.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vanessa B. | Team Manager, Commercial Banking, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp is the essence of "simple." After signing up for a Basecamp account, I was immediately impressed by its user-friendly interface. This application is exceptionally organized. The free version of Basecamp meets the needs of the vast majority of users. Using Basecamp's numerous useful features is simple. I am capable of seeing the big picture and delegating accordingly. The email alerts and mobile apps included with this package are also helpful. Basecamp's reliability in the lack of a solid Internet connection is invaluable when working with a dispersed team.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Due to the lack of sophisticated communication features, you cannot rely solely on Basecamp.

**Recommendations to others considering Basecamp:**

Basecamp is an outstanding tool for multi-level project management, cross-cultural teams, and teams with a broad spectrum of technical expertise.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have typically used Basecamp to collaborate and communicate with my team members in different locations. This form of direct communication and simultaneous work on the same assignment increases the productivity of the collaborative creation phase of the project significantly.

  ### 38. We swear by basecamp

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

I don't like the newer interface much, but that's personal preference I realize

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project collaboration and management

  ### 39. Great tool for project management and constant communication with the client.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yolanda P. | Engineering Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

An organization of customer communication for a project, simple features, and the ability to manage multiple customers at the same time. I like how Basecamp helps you organize your email inbox rather than being overwhelmed with annoying email threads. Employees can use Basecamp to track their work and open a calendar of ongoing projects. Use alerts and comments to see real-time updates. I've been using Basecamp for several years and have always appreciated how easy it is to coordinate tasks with tools and features. It contains most of the tools for managing and organizing many cross-functional projects for small businesses or organizations.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

We have struggled from the start with developing internal norms for how initiatives are developed and managed. The feature set is fairly vast, which is great for customisation, but it resulted in many starts and stops until we discovered a solution that worked for our team. Dependencies do not exist, which is a feature I'd want to see. When you paste a link, such as a Google Doc or a Google Spreadsheet, you cannot link the docs on Basecamp Update. Customers may have difficulty realizing that there is a link within the update.

**Recommendations to others considering Basecamp:**

This is probably the best solution for large companies, as it packs a collection of powerful features that large companies need and provides everything they need to handle different projects in the best possible way. Always keep up-to-date with appropriate titles and make them relevant to your conversation. If the update is no longer relevant to the title, start a new update. Also, add a date to the update title to create a to-do list of items that your customers need to process.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easier project management All your projects are in one place, and instead of using common folders, Basecamp provides a neat and organized interface. Prior to Basecamp, it was difficult to track the location of a project and its processes. This meant that I had to attend more meetings to get the latest progress information, and it's possible that things weren't disclosed to all the right people. BaseCamp makes it easy for anyone to understand the status of a project. That means less meetings and less confusion. Engage appropriate personnel in each current project so that you can decide who to see a particular update at different times. This helps to overload other team members looking at relevant related lectures.

  ### 40. Excellent for organizing all project information in one place.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dylan B. | Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

The fact that you don't have to use multiple programs to manage each project. Everything is in one place, which saves time compared to other competitors. The best thing about Basecamp is that it helps you keep your tasks in one place. It's a simple but effective tool. When I first started using Basecamp, I moved my team so quickly that I could easily assign a weekly schedule.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Linking files was very difficult and the interface could be very confusing. The load time was very inconvenient, but it could also be due to a large file being saved. I've seen some UI changes and I think we can improve them further.

**Recommendations to others considering Basecamp:**

It is very efficient to organize projects with dates, deadlines, and current status to know who is working on what, what status the tasks are in, and what stage the project is in.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Updating tasks and tickets has been a problem for me and my team for a long time, and Basecamp has helped me in a variety of ways. Advantages I would say that we were all in the same place to refer to and focus on the same tasks, and that reviewing tasks was easier. Basecamp has eliminated the need to search for status updates and deadlines all over the place. Less time spent looking for things is always a plus because it allows you to spend more time working.

  ### 41. I love Basecamp so much! It is the absolute best!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley N. | Founder and Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

I love how I can organize tasks and lists for my clients. Communication is so easy through the portal. I love how I can collaborate by sharing files with clients.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

The pricing is a little pricey. It could use features like a personal to-do list section that integrates with other lists. Other than that it works well!

**Recommendations to others considering Basecamp:**

Yes, I would tell anyone to get Basecamp.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need a place to communicate with clients because emailing was so unorganized and daunting. I also like a place to store all the to-do lists and files. I am a lot more organized in my business. It takes me only 10% as long to get things done.

  ### 42. Only way our team stays organized

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel M. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

After becoming familiar with the features of Basecamp, I found it to be a very useful tool for managing tasks and communicating with teammates. It is also great for informing everyone about what needs to be done and monitoring productivity. This approach has effectively divided work among team members and assigned specific responsibilities. Everyone has access to the same information, which makes coordination much more accessible. You can learn more about our activities by linking to our "base camp" initiatives on the website.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Time tracking and reporting capabilities of competing platforms are more sophisticated. This tool would greatly benefit from a redesigned version of that feature, which is why I support its improvement.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Basecamp's assistance, we have brought together all our employees in a central location where they can collaborate on projects and marketing initiatives.

  ### 43. Basecamp keeps our soccer league working!

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Assignments and communication for our remote team.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Calendars could be better. Like a separate vacation one

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Have a remote team in different countries. By holding folks accountable to their assignments,

  ### 44. We like basecamp

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Base camp is a good way for us to keep track of our construction management and project management. It is good for scheduling and time management as well.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

I wish that it would integrate with our outlook calendars better. Then it would be easier to send invites and have them in our full calendar, as well.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project managment. Keeping up with each team's tasks and completion of those tasks.

  ### 45. It keeps teams organized and makes project management easier.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Natalia L. | Sr. Project Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

I appreciate how you can have various places for each project or construct many projects under one account, and how the different elements like the calendar, to-dos, and message board help keep everyone organized. Basecamp is always changing their product to boost efficiency; their new lineup will really help move the needle on project work; what I appreciate best is the ability to write comprehensive notes, attach photographs, and have a chat with coworkers and graphic designers in the comments, it has a less complicated workflow than Monday.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

I dislike that it sets a due date to a chart and I have no way of knowing whether or not the designer has begun working on it. I dislike how you can see previous completed tasks in each area; depending on how many you have, this can start to clog up the space. It can only archive lists, and I don't always want to archive the full list; instead, I simply want to clear up select completed jobs.

**Recommendations to others considering Basecamp:**

Basecamp is an excellent method to keep track of all your projects, offer precise instructions, and feedback. I've used various project management programs in the past, but Basecamp is far superior in terms of ease of use and clear cubes for project management. I strongly suggest this program for any business because it allows clients to access specific to-dos/lists and reserve some items for the internal team exclusively.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to Basecamp, we just emailed content requests to our staff. There was no way of knowing if they received the email, making it considerably more difficult to keep track of when it was allocated, if it was assigned at all. We use Basecamp to tackle project management collaboration and customer communication issues. Because email inboxes are already overflowing with CRM communications, utilizing Basecamp to track customer deliverables is so much more useful. It's less difficult than browsing through an inbox.

  ### 46. Excellent customer support and a great tool to manage projects.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Piper D. | ICT Infrastructure Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp a is fully featured application that allow the company to develop projects, assign task and share them in real time. It's helps to keep all communication in one central place. Customer support is excellent and they are available on major online platforms.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

We have only experienced minor outages so far . No big issues reported and the one we have experienced the support team has been able to sort them.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basecamp is flexible tool for team collaboration. Able to track and monitor tasks and manage multiple projects. Reliable support team and their payment plan is very flexible.

  ### 47. One of the easiest PM tools to use out there but... it's still lacking some basic PM features

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emanuel H. | Digital Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Easy to use and very quick learning curve for new users. It promotes good communication. The pricing model is great for scaling companies though, allowing adding more users, client-users, unlimited file storage, etc, without adding to the cost. Built-in chat/ping is a big advantage when compared with other PM tools that considers it an add-on (with a price tag).

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Lack of basic features like: Gantt views, subtasks, time tracking, and lack of visibility over several projects at a macro level. Having to use other additional integrations to fulfill standard project management needs. Poor customization options for user access/privileges.

**Recommendations to others considering Basecamp:**

Depending on the number of users needed (counting with the external clients or collaborators) Basecamp can be too expensive for a low count but incredibly cheap for a higher count. For companies with simple PM needs, Basecamp can be the best easiest and most affordable option.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

General project management: handling tasks within a project, single source of truth for file storage, communication (internal between team members or with clients). Using internal projects it serves as a repository for company processes, intranet, intrawiki, etc.

  ### 48. Easy to use and flexible with integrations, but could use some improvement.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chrissie H. | Business Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp maintains the order in the lists, the deadlines, the calendars and the speed with which the files are exchanged allow me to be active and informed. It is the best software to manage your projects that I have ever worked with, they keep you informed about the progress of your activity and once the task is completed, you have not missed any important changes or updates so far. Tagging teammates on a task is easy and I like it when the browser times out or accidentally leaves the page. If you forget to click publish, your posts will be saved as a draft.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Basecamp is difficult for me to utilize for lengthier, more intricate multi-faceted projects. For example, in a general campaign creation project, I'd like to be able to split out the subtasks and allocate them to different employees. Because it lacks anything as powerful as Task Dependencies, it has some compensatory options, but it's still not the same, thus it's a little out of date in that regard.

**Recommendations to others considering Basecamp:**

There are several solutions and alternatives available, but if you want to get started fast and without too many hassles, I recommend Basecamp; it is simpler to use. Make use of links and particular project folders for whatever you're working on. Linking to other projects and tagging peers on tasks may be quite beneficial. The only thing that helps me discover stuff on the UI is the search box at the top.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collaboration with team members and Basecamp conversations help maintain everything on one platform and allow other team members to read the message rather than a private email. Our email system is no longer overburdened, and everyone is on top of things. Collaborating in a group is easier since we keep track of each activity in progress and are more organized.

  ### 49. Best platform I've ever used

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

Basecamp is easy to use, and NEVER has a bug, ever

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Nothing. I've used it for so many years with no issue.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project management, organization

  ### 50. Basecamp is great to collaborate

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madison S. | Marketing Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Basecamp?**

As a remote worker, I find Basecamp to be an invaluable tool. The fact that everything is in one place makes it easy to monitor progress and ensure everyone is on the same page. It helps me stay organized and on top of my tasks, even when things get hectic. Although it took some time to get used to, I would highly recommend Basecamp for anyone who works with a remote team.

**What do you dislike about Basecamp?**

Managing micro-tasks can be difficult when using multiple users in Basecamp at the same time. This is because each user may have their way of completing the task, which can lead to confusion and frustration.

**What problems is Basecamp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This program is ideal for collaborating on media projects that require handling large files. You and your team can stay on the same page using the timeline feature to track the project's progress.
