There should be better tools to manage the resulting database when the schema needs to change. There should be an in-app way to bundle/archive the data collected - right now the only way to get the data out of the device is through the Server submission. Android/windows allows for retrieval of data from the device, but not iOS - an in-app version would help A LOT. Chain-of-custody is a big/real thing that is missing. Survey 123 is a great tool to turn anyone into a GIS data collector. This program is very straightforward and easy to use. The survey design tool can build and initiate the online database for you, making it quick for rapid deployment. The survey logic is fantastic, allowing for required questions that are only required when they matter. This can be a major benefit over collector when someone who is inexperienced is operating the software. Surveys can also be issued to users who do not have an account with AGOL, so there is no need to issue everyone doing damage assessments their own account. One of the biggest benefits for our agency is the ability to publish an online survey. This has allowed us to more efficiently collect reports from the public themselves. Working with attachments becomes a problem in Survey 123. Attachments are photos or other data attached to an actual record when information is collected. We use a process where the same record can be visited multiple times via an inbox filter to collect further information throughout a damage assessment. However, we have problems when it comes to photos. If a previous user has submitted photos, a later user cannot. Also, it seems there are issues with submitting photos on any record that is not the initial creation. Users editing a record within Survey 123 cannot see photos submitted by previous users.
