I can easily design detailed inspection forms with custom dropdowns, required fields, image capture, comment sections, and GPS location tagging without needing advanced technical or coding skills. Another favorite feature is its reliable offline functionality. Many of our client medical facilities have poor cell service, and I love that field technicians can complete full site assessments and equipment inspections offline on their mobile devices. All entries save automatically and sync seamlessly to the cloud once they reconnect to a network, so we never lose valuable field data. I also really appreciate the built-in geospatial integration. Every survey submission captures precise GPS coordinates automatically, letting us map medical device installations, service visits, and inspection sites perfectly within our ArcGIS ecosystem. It makes organizing and visualizing field locations far simpler than any old paper or basic online form tool we used before. Additionally, I enjoy how it standardizes data collection across our entire field team. Creating complex conditional logic, nested repeat sections, and detailed validation rules often requires learning special syntax or spending extra time troubleshooting. For our small team without dedicated GIS developers, it would be helpful to have more simplified drag-and-drop logic tools that don’t require technical expertise. Second, the built-in reporting and analytics features are fairly basic. We need to generate customized compliance reports, filter survey data by device type, service date, or facility location, and export formatted summaries for internal reviews and client documentation. Right now, Survey123 lacks ready-made customizable report templates, so we have to export raw data and clean it up manually in spreadsheets to create usable reports.
