**What do you like best about Monetate?**

I like Monetate's web A/B testing platform. It's very powerful if used right, even though it might feel clunky sometimes. I also appreciate the additional development support their team provides when our internal resources are booked. The platform fits right into our tool stack without causing disruptions and doesn't add much to site performance concerns like speed. We can stack tests and run as many as we want at once, and the random sampling feature allows us to review tests independently. Plus, there's very minimal flicker associated with the tests.

**What do you dislike about Monetate?**

The UI doesn't look as advanced as the tool is. There is also some great opportunity for AI test building within the tool. We could also use some additional analysis considerations or flexibility, like setting our own thresholds for SRM or at what sample size we would begin to consider statistically significant results actually relevant.

**What problems is Monetate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Monetate helps us assign value to optimizations and avoid harmful features in production. We appreciate its robust A/B testing platform, dev support, and it's minimal impact on site speed. It allows stacking tests efficiently and ensures we can review them independently.

Monetate has supported our ability to exceed projected OKRs on an ongoing basis. Training and documentation is excellent, the service and access to SME's is superb.  The platform and UX intuitive.

I'd like to have more flexible data analytics.

I like that I can see the Who, what etc. clearly and that the analytics section shows the metrics that reached significance clearly.

I wish there wasn't a need to be so manual. Due to the setup of our website, we have to create JavaScript builds with 0 assurance that it won't break the site. The action builder is not reliable at all; it doesn't work often times for actions or events.

Monetate is helping me to A/B test, as a split or dynamic test. My focus is on improving our overall CVR funnel on the site.

**What do you like best about Monetate?**

Lets you add or replace HTML, place recommendations, and more anywhere on a website without digging into the code. Also lets you schedule experiences to run and track analytics.

**What do you dislike about Monetate?**

The primary tool for building new experiences doesn't work in Safari so initlally you basically have to use a separate browser to make template experiences that can be selected and altered in Safari. Similarly, the inspector tool that lets you troubleshoot your setup from on your website also doesn't work in Safari.

Additionally, no matter what we do, experiences get applied after pages load so anything above the fold flashes the old version for a split second before showing Monetate content or adjustments. This limits the scale of the items that you really can manipulate to rather small ones.

Allows quick or scheduled changes to the site without digging into the code or adding temporary code (e.g. holiday hours on the contact page). Also provides product recommendations to our users.

Monetate is easy to use and the Knowledgebase is super helpful. Their support team is always available to help. Monetate is a powerful tool with lots of cool features for testing or solving problems.

**What do you dislike about Monetate?**

Sometimes our Canada integration feels a little wonky compared to our US integration, but it's only for small things like updating an image.

**What problems is Monetate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Monetate to test solutions for our new Buy Online Pickup In Store service that we just added to PDPs and Cart.
We are also using Monetate to test a session timeout solution on our checkout pages that alerts customers when their session has expired and they need to re-login in order to get free shipping.
After releasing an update to our checkout page, we collapsed our Credit Card section. This update proved to be confusing to customers, and Monetate was able to quickly help turn around a solution that we could use until our website providers could implement a more permanent fix.

easy to start using due to Action, event, ... creator // not overloaded with information or possibilities // good fit for beginner to expert level // easy to read test insights // good support for us user, especially props to Michel Castro who is always super responsive and takes time for detailed answers and support // endless possibilities with coding expertise

**What do you dislike about Monetate?**

to start, I don't have experiences with any other Testing platform, so can not relate on standards or else. And I guess same goes for in what way the platform is tailor-made for each company and on what level this is optimised - so might not be your (Monetate) "fault" but rather us (Company) to not squeeze it properly for some instances.

this might be less of a critic, but I realized throughout the year that the quality of the Tests/Monetate experience is very much depending on how skilled you are as a user. And I feel that the scope is much bigger than for e.g. the usage of an CMS system, where you can ofc become a pro  - but here most platforms just have natural boundaries which you can reach quite quick. I guess a coding crack with creative skills or a creative partner in crime is the best user out there. Limits with JS are endless - and this is great. But for 95% of users from our Company, this is just too far away. So, might in the end also be a mismatch for the position. Plus, I imagine it very difficult to have something like advanced pre-built MT actions as the website codes are just too much different right. But maybe in times of ChatGPT and else there are possibilities for built-in AI coding support on Monetate (?).

And also for using the action, event ... builder I experienced it very helpful to understand how CSS selector works rather than sticking to what I am given inside the builder. Maybe there are possibilities to let Montate kind of understand using more "unique" identifier connected to the element?

The multi-Variant split with A-/B-Control is still bit blurry for me in terms of why this is needed. And also sometimes difficult with lower traffic Tests. Again, might be industry standard I dont know.

Built in metrics/events are quite limited - here as mentioned might be a case of us squeezing it not enough from Company side.

I am a design lover and just visually mentioned, the Monetate interface does not appeal to me. Could be much more mature/modern in my opinion - but ofc that does not harm the usage!

The detailed reports I can export are also quite difficult to understand/personalize to my needs for me. And I think this is an underrated feature to have. As we are pretty much asked to provide some sort of monthly/quaterly/yearly progress and analysis which I would love to do.

I was never able to make it work using the preview via QR code on my mobile phone. Or trying other ways to somehow QA on mobile.

for us mainly for squeezing and maximizing performance, especially for promotional periods. Has endless options to extend our possibilities from the CMS, Salesforce whatsoever systems with endless visual, technical, ... experiences and features. Great for workaround stuff. Shortterm optimisation until stuff gets developed. Great for personalisation due to specific targeting.

We use Monetate on a daily basis and using their hybrid implementation we are able to very quickly and easily roll out A/B experiments, as well as use serverside iintegration to run the bigger tests without flicker. When we have issues with test setup, our CSM and technical support are always quick to help.

**What do you dislike about Monetate?**

The UI is very dated and at times confusing until you get used to it, also a lot of the metrics you can select in their Auto Personalisation only apply to US customers

Monetate affords us the ability to roll out small iterative changes with minimal effort, their product recommendations have proven time and again to be far better than our own OOTB solutions and we continue to see improvements year over year in Monetate's revenue influence

As mentioned previously, the ability to make quick changes and bring functionality to either tests or plug gaps rather than long development lead times is a stand out benefit. Testing new functionality with supporting data is also a great asset.

Monetate's personalization capabilities are vast, and many of the features of our site are powered by Monetate, making it very easy to get things done all in one platform, saving us time. I personally work most directly with Product Recommendation experiences, and with the support of the Monetate staff, it's easy to implement changes and find ways to improve the performance of the recs, increasing our revenue!

**What do you dislike about Monetate?**

At times the back-end platform can feel a bit antiquated, but it works smoothly. Exporting analytics data can sometimes be a clunky process, without the ability to download data into one concise report (like a singular .csv file), analyzing the data for our purposes can be time-consuming.

**What problems is Monetate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Product Recommendations experiences have become a great source of revenue for us, especially in recent years. This has increased our site's performance in many different ways; AOV, bounce rate, etc. This frees up the time for our small staff to focus on other aspects of our business.

Thanks to numerous customisation options and the fact that all attributes of our catalogue can be imported and used for filtering, the quality of the recommended products as well as the measurable direct and indirect revenue have improved significantly.

**What do you dislike about Monetate?**

Unfortunately, the setup and usability of the tool are relatively complex and sometimes cumbersome. So be prepared to spend a considerable amount of resources at the beginning.

In addition, Monetate is not designed by default for shops that differentiate their store views via URL string rather than top-level domain. This initially caused major problems with onsite recommendations (which were all quickly and reliably resolved) and still causes problems with email recommendations (as of today).

Previously, our recommendations were either played out via Emarsys or via a specially developed logic. The performance of these recommendations was not exactly great. With Monetate, we were able to improve this significantly.

engineAPI implementation has a lot of flaws, like inability to use some of the targeting features.

I really dislike the test analytics. I want to see real time analytics for the lifetime of my test, not 3 hours, 1 day, and 7 days, or whatever it is. The metrics page where you see significance or not is just not good. I hate having to click into every single metric to see all the variants. I want to know how all the variants are doing, not just the best performing. I also really dislike how hard it is to read metrics that haven't reached significance. I want to see them anyway!

Dynamic testing is an incredible idea, but we don't use it because it picks a winner so quick that we fear its premature. I would love to see that feature enhanced so I can set how long to keep the test a traditional a/b test before then switching to dynamic. If that were the case, I would test it as a traditional test for a week or so and then let the winner take over to account for weekend traffic/different types of traffic.

Ability to mak incremental change to optimize our layouts. We haven't delved too deeply into personalization, but we intend to.

It is pretty intuitive and really helps you understand how your website is built and the code behind it.

Sometimes it can be a little tricky finding the correct selector to use in a test.

I think sometimes it would be nice to choose to receive a specific alert about an experience rather than an e-mail alert about all experiences. A toggle to receive an alert when an indivudual experience has reached goal significance would be handy. Or even an alert to say an experience has been running for quite some time, it's probably time to review!
