The challenge is balancing both sides: broadcasting important information and getting employees to actually interact with it.

Workvivo stands out most directly for this specific use case because its reviews talk about both company-wide communication and employee interaction, not just messaging. Enterprise reviewers also mention recognition posts, comments, reactions, and announcements as reasons the platform feels more engaging.
For internal comms teams using these, which platform actually gets employees to engage with announcements instead of simply seeing them? Do social features improve participation, or can they make important updates easier to miss?
Internal Communications reviews on G2 are split between purpose-built engagement tools and general collaboration platforms that happen to get used for announcements. Workvivo's reviews describing recognition, reactions, and comments alongside announcements suggest engagement there comes from the social layer being a real part of the product, not bolted onto a messaging tool built for something else. Slack, Zoom Workplace, and Teams all show up here mostly because they're already where employees are, which is a real advantage for reach, but their review themes lean toward channels and meetings rather than the specific announcement-to-engagement loop the post is asking about.
The risk the post raises about social features burying important updates is a real tradeoff, not a hypothetical one, since a feed model that surfaces whatever gets the most reactions can just as easily bury a critical announcement under something more entertaining.
