Zendrea is a cloud accounting application built for Swiss sole proprietors, freelancers, and small companies (GmbH and AG). It covers the statutory basics a Swiss business needs in one place: double-entry bookkeeping on the Swiss chart of accounts, VAT returns with an upload file for the ESTV portal, payroll with AHV/IV/EO and BVG contributions and salary certificates, invoices carrying the Swiss QR payment part, bank reconciliation through camt.053 statement imports, and annual accounts a fiduciary or tax office will accept.
An integrated AI assistant reduces manual work without removing control. It pre-fills bookings from scanned receipts, drafts postings from plain-language instructions, answers questions about the figures, and runs deterministic checks that flag posting mistakes. Every suggestion remains a draft until a user approves it, so the ledger stays auditable.
Zendrea is written for people who run a business rather than an accounting department: account labels and workflows use plain language instead of accounting jargon, and guided flows cover common Swiss cases such as VAT settlement, salary rounds, credit notes, open-item tracking, and payment differences. The interface is available in German, French, Italian, and English.
Data residency is a core design decision: books are stored and processed in Switzerland, and the AI assistant runs on Swiss infrastructure rather than a US cloud. An optional at-rest encryption mode protects the books with a passphrase only the customer holds.
Switching is built in: Zendrea imports the posting journal, chart of accounts, and open items directly from bexio's export files — DATEV and SAF-T journals too — with a preview before anything is committed.
Zendrea offers a permanently free tier — with payroll included rather than sold as an add-on — and the product can be evaluated with a demo company at app.zendrea.ch/demo (no login required) that contains two full financial years of sample data.
