I found Gather very useful to create a greater feeling of proximity in remote working environments. It allows us to easily have a voice conversation with colleagues, to know who is talking to who, to join conversation in an instant and even express ourselves by customizing our tables and characters. Also, Gather is very lightweight so you can keep it open all the time without any prejudice to your computer performance or energy usage.

I love the customization in Gather, from designing the avatars and individual desks to the entire virtual office space. We even tried replicating our physical office in Gather. This customization adds an interesting element to how we present ourselves and interact with each other in the virtual space, making virtual office visits 'possible.'
