While the platform is robust, I did encounter a few technical friction points that required manual intervention:

Third-Party Video Stability: I faced consistent issues when trying to pull video playback directly from YouTube and Vimeo. The streams would occasionally fail or stutter, which isn't ideal for a professional waiting area. My workaround was to download the files and upload them directly to the Yodeck cloud. While this solved the issue completely, it added an extra step to the workflow that I’d prefer to see automated more reliably.

Initial Learning Curve: The dashboard is incredibly feature-rich, but that can make it feel a bit "clunky" or overwhelming at first. For advanced layouts, there’s a definite learning curve before you can get things exactly right.

If I had a point out a drawback it would be that some of the more creative design options feel slightly limited compared to dedicated design software. We’ve had a Chromebit for some time, and it worked great. However, the technology is now out of date, so we needed a more up-to-date digital signage stick. Once we got our new digital signage stick, we also needed a CMS to partner with the device.

YoDeck was easy to set up, and it was straightforward to implement our solution. We’re a small boarding school, and we’re using just one screen as our announcement board. The ability to edit and update our presentation and webpages has made this a very welcome addition to our fleet of devices.

There’s very little to dislike about Yodeck. If anything, some of the more advanced features can take a bit of time to fully explore, simply because the platform offers so many possibilities. However, this is more a reflection of how powerful and flexible the system is rather than a real drawback.

Occasionally, we would welcome even more ready-made templates or design elements, but the existing options already cover most needs very well. For such a polished end product, Yodeck is very simple to use - from the first time I tried it, the dashboard is intuitive, and the results are very impressive. I am in charge of 7 digital displays across 4 different companies. With little or no digital signage knowledge, users can be up and running within minutes. I feel I have just scratched the surface of all the features on offer from Yodeck, and I am excited to begin using these powerful features to further enhance my digital signage game. I went from knowing very little about digital signage to classing myself as an expert within a few hours. Also, it is very easy to ask about a feature - I use the customer support chat feature and that answers my questions. The only downside I have found is actually outside of Yodeck's control - if we lose power or internet for whatever reason, and the Yodeck is run through a FireStick for example, the display/FireStick must be restarted. What leaves the most to be desired is the lack of visualization of some apps or content added to playlists. Furthermore, there are still many visualizations that are unsupported, which makes it difficult to conduct tests without having a screen dedicated to the Yodeck device.
