X1 Search Reviews & Product Details

X1 is an incredible software that is essential for my productivity. The software instantly finds any desired word in titles stored on the computer or within a document. For example, the name Thomas appears 109 times in document titles and 6739 times in my collection of documents among 250,000 files I’ve created over the past fifteen years. It took X1 less than a second to identify all instances and display the URL for each occurrence.

I use X1 multiple times a day, often to find related files stored elsewhere. And amazingly, it can help find a document from many years ago that contains the needed information. X1 saves me a lot of time, prevents frustration, and boosts my efficiency. I know of no other search function that works nearly as fast and thoroughly.

A second aspect of X1 makes the company significantly more valuable. Sometimes, I need help to understand an anomaly that defied explanation. The head of support, Chris Weakley, is fantastic. He responds almost always within a day with practical and sometimes surprising solutions. Recently, several XLS files wouldn’t sort properly (by date of last usage), defying all logical explanation. In this case, deleting the entire index and reindexing resolved the issue, though it took the computer almost 24 hours to completely rebuild the index file. Somehow, my system had corrupted several files. The customer service X1 provides is a model all other companies should strive to match.

In short, X1 is easy to install, easy to implement and use, and provides excellent customer support. It integrates well with the Microsoft Suite and so many products. It is my workhorse. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

X1 enables me to locate what I need in Windows within seconds. Whether it is an email in Outlook, files on a server, SharePoint, or a local PC, if it exists in one of these locations, I can find it almost instantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The one huge downfall of X1 is that if you are ever stuck using one of the other individual searches in Windows (Outlook, File Explorer, SharePoint or OneDrive search, etc.), you will want to beat your head against the wall because none of them will find what you are looking for beyond the very basic text match. I am absolutely enamored with X1. This extraordinary product has transformed my life, allowing me to spend my time efficiently rather than on the endless, frustrating search for documents, files, or emails. For 20 wonderful years, X1 has been an indispensable part of both my work and home life, and I cannot imagine functioning without it. It is truly worth every penny. My customers and colleagues think I'm brillant mostly due to X1. I can find information fast. I was introduced to X1 at a customer 15 years ago with a great presentation covering the differences between Filers and searchers. Not only are filers grossly inefficient but given the growth of information filing becomes a pointless exercise (imagine if Google tried 'filing' the internet). I gave up all but the most basic of filing backthen because X1 was the tool that worked for me. Over the years I have tried many difference solutions and nothing comes close to performance, ease of use and results. On the rare occasion I have needed it the customer support is amazing. 1. The built-in viewer that let's me very quickly click & view thru a list of files or emails to finalize my search.

2. The ability to make a complex "search equation" (e.g., with and's and or's) and save it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It has to constantly be looking for changes (e.g., new or deleted or moved files & emails) instead of having a service that notifies it when a change occurs. Even when you have X1 move a file itself, it does not instantly fix the index accordingly, but has to do a scan and discover and fix it later. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It works and its fast. I'm an attorney and I simply couldn't live without it when drafting documents. It is so easy to find clauses that I have previously drafted to insert into a new document. Just as easy to find emails, contacts, and tasks.

The customer service is prompt, knowlegable, and goes above and beyond to when they find other problems with your computor not related to X1. They set a high bar for other companies.
