## WebDrive File Access Client Reviews
  ### 1. seamless cloud file mapping

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kem S. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2023

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

We operate remote offices utilizing Amazon S3, iDrive Cloud Storage, and remote drives on servers thru a webdrive thru sftp connection. With Webdrive we are able to map remote drives, from multiple locations, as local drives. This way multiple remote office locations are able to work on the same data seemlessly. The cost of using Webdrive for multiple locations saves us several hundred dollars when compared to Amazons internal gateway service.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

getting the settings correct to allow multiple users proper updates without having to refresh cache

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

successful remote mapping of files to common files for use during normal business operations from multiple locations

  ### 2. Awesomest among a bunch of alternatives.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manish D. | IT Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2021

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

I am an independent IT Specialist. With the burst of cloud drives everywhere, clients were asking for something that would aggregate their different accounts into something useful. Between Webdrive, Expandrive, and others I test drove, WebDrive offered the best experience. Their support team is also quick in helping resolve issues. Support for a plethora of providers is a boon. As is the speed and ease of use, log file data, and security.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

At times, it does require updates. When it autoupdates, it doesn't always mention that the program or system should be restarted. User is stuck trying to figure out why files are not synced or opening. When you open the Webdrive program, it'll tell you an update has been applied and needs to be restarted. Small glitch which I hope is resolved soon.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not having to sync all cloud drive data locally to a PC with small SSD drive is the biggest benefit. If PCs are lost, stolen, etc. having data not be stuck on the PC due to not syncing of cloud data is another benefit.

  ### 3. Great product that I use every day!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2022

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

I have been using for years for easy editing of files in the cloud. I like that it doesn't change the file extension like google docs does. I use it with S3 and have previously used with Onedrive. It works perfectly.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Nothing. Good product, good support, reasonable price.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I often work with text files and google docs changes the extension, so it can't be imported to a program expecting a text file. Webdrive keeps the file type. Also makes it really simple to edit stuff in the cloud because it uses the desktop app for that type of file.

  ### 4. Great software, hugely useful in my daily work

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2021

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Read and write access to remote servers as if they were local is way more useful than it sounds. Supports many connection profiles including S/FTP, SSH, Google, S3, and others. I've used it almost daily for something like 15 years.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

I haven't been able to find any other way to replicate what WebDrive does, so it makes me a little nervous to depend on it so heavily. However, I recently had an issue (for the first time in ~15 years) and they solved it for me with a remote desktop session. So now I also know how good their support is.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Super-easy access to remote servers makes it way more intuitive to work with them.

  ### 5. Simple to use, but very powerful

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2022

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Simple to use and setup. Acts just like a mapped drive. Excellent support when needed (problem my fault, not caused by the app)

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Some short delay between local and remote actions, but considering what is happening, this is completely understandable.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Treats an FTP site as a local drive. This makes it easy for me to maintain a web portal as a developer.

  ### 6. Solved my problem right away

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Writing and Editing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2022

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Webdrive gives me complete access to all my sites no matter where I am. Absolutely indispensable and very easy to use.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Having to "approve" linking with WD every time I open it, but this is a Windows issue.

**Recommendations to others considering WebDrive File Access Client:**

Get it.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Had a problem accessing one of my web sites with my "obsolete" and wholly un-cool HTML editor (Dreamweaver MX). I got snotty comments from the so-called "support" community for Adobe and suggestions that I should get a "modern" editor. I contacted WD's support and in one reply they solved my issue. Couldn't have been better. No thanks to Adobe!

  ### 7. Kudos to the WebDrive Support (Jeff)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael T. | Department Systems Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2021

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Our organization has all digital files within our Document Management System (Alfresco). We interface with Alfresco via WebDAV as a mapped drive within File Explorer. A few months back we started to have problems with Adobe PDF files and it was recommended for us to use WebDrive to interface the WebDAV connection. We had a few issues because our organization security systems were interfering with the WebDrive application and Jeff was fantastic isolating the problem and resolving it. We also had major issues some files going to zero file size after users save their work, losing their work. Jeff was a life saver working with me to troubleshoot and even working with their development team to release a beta version to resolve the issue. It saved my bacon!!

It also a good application to connect to other cloud drives if we ever have any in the future.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Sometimes WebDrive will work slow for some users. This might be a network issues on our end thought.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WebDrive allows use to connect to our document management system (Alfresco) via the WebDrive connection. The benefit is that we get to continue to use this interface giving us time to upgrade to a newer version of Alfresco.

  ### 8. A review from the "little guy"

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin T. | Retired, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2021

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

I use WebDrive to connect to two Google Drive accounts plus four Microsoft OneDrive accounts (Microsoft 365). I am a single user so I do not have the resources of a company IT team behind me. When I have questions or issues the WebDrive support team has been responsive and easy to deal with. They have solved my problem in every case with no exceptions. I am a very satisfied customer.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Some of the options/check boxes use very "techy" verbiage. If you are an IT professional this is no problem but for a 64 year old single user this can be a problem. If you want to make the product more usable by a broader spectrum of people there should be explanations (pop-up right next to the item) in simple, plain language that a high school graduate can understand.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wanted immediate access to various cloud drives right within Windows 10 vs. having to go to a web interface. Using WebDrive is faster, simpler, and easier than other methods.

  ### 9. This product is terrific!

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Nothing. There is nothing about the product to dislike.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to automate the upload of hundreds of reports each day, to a secure site known as Sharefile.

  ### 10. WebDrive Brings Cloud Storage to the Desktop

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jyll S. | President and Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2021

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

This product was very easy to install on my PC and my Mac. It's easy to connect to S3 and S3-compatible stores. The support services are outstanding!

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

I haven't found anything that I disklike.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I began using Amazon S3 and Backblaze storage solutions for clients, code backups, media deliveries. etc. I needed a quick way to access the files without using the console. I tried many products before settling on WebDrive.

  ### 11. Solve a HUGE issue for me and Allowed Goggle Drive to be Useful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David K. | Handyman, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2021

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

This allow my 2TB Google Drive to look like my "W:" drive. It looks and acts just like a network drive now (albeit a little slow with my internet, but not bad a all).

Google made a security change to their Google Drove log-in. This broke the 32 bit version of WebDrive. I entered a help ticket. Within 24 hours (actually less), these guys had a new 32 bit version compiled and ready for me!!!! That new version (19.xxx something) worked perfect the first time!

This little utility, along with XXCOPY, allowed me to finally get a file by file off site backup of my critical small business files. Just try dragging and dropping a huge amount of files to google drive and see how that does not work out for you. This WebDrive, making Google look like another drive on my computer solved that issue and works really fantastic!!!!!

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Nothing that I can think of. This program just does it job.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making Google Drive look and act like my "W:" drive, perfectly.

  ### 12. Worked Great for Me!

Im using to backup my company files on my server using webdrive with my ftp server.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

The price is kind heavy for who really need more accounts.

**Recommendations to others considering WebDrive File Access Client:**

Nothing, all perfect.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using for save my files who are in my desktop to my web server using webdrive connected on ftp.

  ### 14. Very good!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2021

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

We are intensively testing for SharePoint: it works well!

I've been in touch with support for different questions (questions, not problems). I'm a software developer (doing thisdata migration is not my main usual day to day). I like knowing how things work internally and how are implemented, how does the API work, which and why are limits, etc. Support gave me good and detailed answers and I'm not sure that they will be able to help if problems occur.

I also like the perpetual license - buy with one year support and use it later. This helps deciding for a product to avoid year maintenance if we decide that we don't need support after the first year.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

We would like Linux support on WebDrive. And like others commented, a bit cheaper.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are migrating to use the SharePoint / Microsoft One Drive as a storage and then move slowly to use the tools in this ecosystem. First step is a storage for documents. We have 25K files and about 50TB of data. Microsoft One Drive is causing problems: "Looking for changes" in unexpected ways and the path in One Drive is too long (we have long directories and file paths).

Our users are used to a network shared experience not a Microsoft One Drive local and remote libraries.

WebDrive solves all of these problems without having to say to the team "the folders are too nested" or "too long paths".

  ### 15. Great support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Søren B. | Software engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2021

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

We have used WebDrive for many years.
Allways a great product.
Now they have released a new version of the program and some issues came up.
The file and directory timestamps was all current date and time.
We contacted the WebDrive support and they helped us to fix our problems with the program.
They send us a new beta test version with a fix and the new beta version did infact solve our problem.

GREAT SUPPORT. Thanks from Denmark.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

I do not dislike anything in WebDrive.
Why do I have to dislike it to make this review?

**Recommendations to others considering WebDrive File Access Client:**

Most of all.

It is stable.

I have not had any complaints about WebDrive crash or errors from our almost 50 users since 2008.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use the WebDrive to connect to our ftp server.
This helps our service personel to store files on our ftp server.

  ### 16. Been using Webdrive since 2016 (happy with the program but with a little problem)

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2020

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Its just plain convenience you can just upload or copy files from your cloud drive without going through the web browser. If you copy files, big or small from Google drive, it will always compress (zip), that take time but webdrive just allow you to do it on the fly like normal NAS or network storage.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

If you put files on Google drive, you always have some files with duplicate like ABC, ABC (1) etc.

**Recommendations to others considering WebDrive File Access Client:**

Ease of usage, affordable if you would purchase 5 years licence. Heavy integration with multiple Cloud storage like dropbox, NAS, Google Drive etc. Even work well with secure or non FTP server for upload or changing of files.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can put webdrive client on multiple laptops, inregards where I am, I can access the files so long I have a working internet. I access files from office, home or even on my mobile hotspot.

  ### 17. WebDrive is a simple and fast application for file transfer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tomas R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2020

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

WebDrive is a simple and reliable FTP client. What I like the most is that it uses the operating system folder directory to manipulate web server files, in my case Windows, which is a great advantage because I manipulate it easily and I can also drag and drop the files. Also, I like the fact that it is possible to create or upload backups of both local folders and the web server.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Unfortunately WebDrive is not available for Linux.

**Recommendations to others considering WebDrive File Access Client:**

A simple and efficient FTP client. It is a lightweight software that supports multiple services such as Dropbox, Amazon or Google Drive. Highly recommended.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use WebDrive to manipulate the server files on our website. It is a great advantage to be able to perform backups, import or export data. Also, it is very useful for me to integrate WebDrive with Dropbox to save files easily in the cloud.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

I have had some issues with support in the past, including being told that they could not get the software to work on a Mac O/S (couple years ago)

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to turn S3 into a shared network drive for my team of remote workers

  ### 19. Perfect Fix for Microsoft Access Queries

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kurt G. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2020

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

WebDrive has allowed me to link files into a Microsoft Access database. I can now write queries against those files whereas before this was not possible.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

The only downside is the file has to be downloaded each time the query is run (caching won't work for my needs).

**Recommendations to others considering WebDrive File Access Client:**

Works as promised and provides easy access to files that would otherwise be difficult to access.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WebDrive has allowed me to link files into a Microsoft Access database. I can now write queries against those files whereas before this was not possible.

  ### 20. A good tool with exceptional support seals the deal for me

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

It provides single-route access to files stored on machines with different architectures.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

I don't dislike anything about WebDrive.

**Recommendations to others considering WebDrive File Access Client:**

When running from Windows, use it *with* their network file access procedures, rather than as an alternative

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems are not with WebDrive, but in finding out how to access the files on a given machine. Benefits are convenience, and not having to keep copies of files on lots of different machines.

  ### 23. WebDrive is a good choice for file sharing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

Once it launches, WebDrive offers a simple, intuitive means of accessing remote secure files. Much easier than alternatives such as WinSCP.

  ### 25. WebDrive bridges the Linux backend to my Windows IDE

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juergen S. | N/A, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2019

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

I don't know what I would do without webdrive and being able to mount sftp drives locally. WebDrive does that very well, at good speed. It is pretty stable.
I also used it for Amazon and google Drive, and it really turns them into local drives usable in any application.
Support is quick and helpful, provides resolutions very fast!
The background transfer of large files and partial file access is great, and it makes apps less blocking.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

There are a few quirks and bugs, over the years I've reached out to the support several times. There is just one thing I'm having a problem with, it is the lack of case sensitive file naming. It seems to throw of the caching and sometimes not being able to read files or folders until the cache is cleared.
I have also lost a few files in transit, nothing major lost (yet), but it's a little worrisome having a file with all \0's instead of code.

**Recommendations to others considering WebDrive File Access Client:**

Works very reliable for sftp and amazon. SSH Key management is a little quirky, but I somehow figured it out. It has all the settings and tweak you need. ANd you can have so many different connections and protocols.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Need to access files from multiple remote Linux systems.

  ### 26. Indispensable for Scholarship Using Citavi and a Personal NAS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve J. | CEO, Management Consulting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2018

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

I love being able to access folders on my QNAP TS-251A NAS using a Windows drive letter, as if the cloud storage were connected directly to my laptop as a local drive. It's also unexpectedly fast, and I often work with large PDF's. Once I set WebDrive up to connect to my NAS, every time that I open Directory Opus (my preferred file manager, although you can use File Explorer or anything else), I can navigate and move files around between folders as easily as if I were working with local folders.

Currently, I use secure FTP. In the future, I plan to set up secure WebDAV, which supports file locking, and will make collaborating with other scholars easier. (We won't risk overwriting each other's changes.) WebDrive supports a variety of protocols, including secure FTP and secure WebDAV.

I especially like that WebDrive shows the user a dialog box with the request/response dialogue from its initial handshaking with a server, so that you can debug any errors. The product has never crashed on me and is transparent. It's far better than a dedicated FTP client.

The most important benefit is that it has made available all 4 TB of remote storage on my NAS to me, as if it were local storage, so that I never have to worry about running out of space on my Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

**What do you dislike about WebDrive File Access Client?**

The properties dialog box, which lets you configure connectivity information for a server, could be improved a little. For instance, there is a section called "General Host Settings," where you enter the IP of the server. Confusingly, you can't enter the port number there. Instead, you have to go to another section, "Connection Settings."

"Connection Settings" is also a bit strange. It has a checkbox: "[ ] Use default port [ ]." If the checkbox is checked, it defaults to port 21 (the default FTP port). If it's unchecked, you can enter another port number. I would move that field to the "General Host Settings" section, eliminate the checkbox, and just let the user enter whichever port they desire, with the default being pre-populated.

In general, I would reorganize the properties dialog box to make it more efficient for the user to set new sites up. I would group the many options differently by focusing on the typical use cases that the user is likely to have, and making those quick and straightforward to get through. I'd also add help text when a user hovers over an option, to explain what some of the less obvious options do.

There is also a limitation that might have something to do with the secure FTP protocol, but I'm uncertain. Some of my folders are named using diacritical marks, for instance: Résumés. However, in WebDrive, that folder appears as: Résumés. Perhaps this is because the FTP protocol can't handle Unicode characters. If possible, it would great to get this fixed.

**Recommendations to others considering WebDrive File Access Client:**

If you have a personal NAS or want to be able to mount any cloud storage that WebDrive supports on your computer, WebDrive is the perfect solution. It's inexpensive, fast, stable, and just works. There's no better way to expand limited storage on your personal device than to be able to edit files on the cloud directly, as if they resided on your computer.

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm a graduate student in philosophy at the University of MIssouri-St. Louis. I use Citavi (https://citavi.com/en/) on my Surface Pro 4 to store journal articles and books (PDF's), and enable me to easily and efficiently cite them. Any data loss would be catastrophic, so I store all of my Citavi files on my personal NAS, a QNAP TS-251A, which is also synchronized with a local folder on my Surface using QNAP's Qsync utility.

The problem with this is that research projects can get quite large, and it's easy to run out of local storage space on my Surface. I began investigating ways of accessing files directly on the NAS without synchronizing them, and found WebDrive. Now, I connect Citavi to my NAS using the secure FTP protocol, through WebDrive. This approach lets me use as much cloud storage as I have (4 TB) without worrying about running out of space on my Surface's 256 GB SSD.

**What do you like best about WebDrive File Access Client?**

Well, my approach for this review will be as simply as it need to be.

WebDrive just simply works!

Moving several TB's of data between my internal network ftp mapped drives and Internet and... it simply works.

Never got a disconnected drive.
Never got installation drive out of disk space due to log files.

And all of this in trial mode!

Just guessing what i can get in purchased mode :)

Hope this can help you out.

Cheers

**What problems is WebDrive File Access Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a graduate student and do molecular simulation. I typically work with a lot of data and at times have to overview and work with multiple files at a time. All of files (which are a lot) are located on the university servers which I can access remotely using the Webdrive FAS. I am able to Mount SFTP as a virtual drive and access the files, it works like a charm. I can interact with my files and data on the university server in the same way as I would with the files locally stored on my computer. This is very beneficial to me as I do not need to be in the office to access, organize and edit my files and directories and can work from home, on holidays or when I am gone to a conference.
