"Would be best used for simple, uncomplicated sites"

2/5

What do you like best about Unbound by Bridgeline?

Easy to add new content & update it. With a small product catalog & content site, it would be very easy to manage product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unbound by Bridgeline?

Files must be handled one at a time; cannot be handled en masse. Cannot copy filters and then alter them - each navigation filter must be done individually. Cannot clone products and then update. Each must be handled individually. Application tends to run quite slowly for us. Some expected functionality falls very short, such as blogging. We had to do a lot of custom code to create category pages, archive widgets, etc.

Initial implementation fell largely to our team, rather than the vendor. Rather than deliver a finished product, we were expected to create all content and navigation (we were moving an existing site into the platform). For small sites, this may not be an impediment, but for a large site, it is more difficult.

You cannot migrate staging updates to production (content & product changes). Everything must be replicated by hand in the live environment. This causes a lot of duplicated efforts, especially for larger updates.

It is difficult to do customization on the fly - almost all customization must be done by either highly technical house resources or vendor resources at additional cost. We are rapidly outgrowing the inherent functionality.

Built-in search engine is quite limited.

The UI is pretty buggy as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Unbound by Bridgeline:

I wouldn't recommend iAPPS if you have a large highly customized catalog, or if you want to manage your customer database outside of iAPPS. It is est used as a complete solution for small business with limited product catalogs. If a great deal of your content strategy relies on blog functionality, I wouldn't recommend, as set up requires vendor development and is unintuitive.

There also seems to be a high level of attrition, which makes me wonder about the work environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Unbound by Bridgeline solving and how is that benefiting you?

Upgrading from a home-grown system that required IT intervention for almost all changes was really helpful for our marketing group. The ability to manage metadata on a page by page basis (including CSS &JS as well as SEO metadata) has been tremendously helpful for us, resulting in an increase in our organic SERPs translating to increased revenue. "iApps Content Manager and Marketier"

1/5

What do you like best about Unbound by Bridgeline?

iApps allows us to manage our website, blog, and deploy email campaigns through one unified platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unbound by Bridgeline?

While support is often quick to respond, I feel like I need to reach out to support more than necessary. The presence of a robust online knowledge base would make day-to-day use easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Unbound by Bridgeline solving and how is that benefiting you?

A 360 degree online web presence. The ability to manage all facets of our online presence in one location is a great time-saver. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comprehensive mid-level CMS; may limit some publishers creative flexibility."

3/5

What do you like best about Unbound by Bridgeline?

I think the UI is generally straight forward and has most of the CMS publishing features you'd like to have. I think the menu/directory structure for navigation management is intuitive and easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unbound by Bridgeline?

The rigidity of the template-based page layouts. Development cycles are slow without an in-house developer who can develop and deploy new templates. We often have ideas that we'd like to try and then find we are constrained by the limitations of the page layout/content item system. Content items can be configured to achieve unique functionality, but it can be frustrated thereafter to continue to innovate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Unbound by Bridgeline:

Look at what you need and evaluate your own internal development capabilities. This CMS has a lot of the features you'd call 'requirements' but can be limiting when flexed too far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Unbound by Bridgeline solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed a way to manage a professional-looking website without a true development resource working in a day-to-day capacity. iApps solved that with their Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unbound by Bridgeline?

Not very intuitive approach to how things are organized. Always hunting for something since I don't use it daily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Not recommended for novices"

0/5

What do you like best about Unbound by Bridgeline?

iAPPS did make it pretty easy to create and manage new content. It lacks a lot of the advantage of plug-ins available for WordPress, but tends to make up for that with greater stability. The integration of an analytics suite into the platform also helps make this a real asset for someone who knows the business of content management and SEO. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unbound by Bridgeline?

Unfortunately, you are probably going to be on your own when it comes to making sure this thing serves your business. Bridgeline came in with a quote lower than any other potential vendor (we reviewed at least three others), and - what we liked best - it came at a fixed price. There is no such thing as a free lunch, though, and the end result was that the project took longer than they expected and, at the end, they gave the implementation short shrift. They gave only brief mention of key items required for our site transition, expecting on some level that those in a small business knew the ins and outs of web development like they did. The site functioned, but traffic dropped. They really should have spent more time being a thought-partner rather than delivering a mere technical product. You really have to have someone proficient with the details of search engine marketing and / or web development before even considering going with these guys - they won't look out for your interests and you have to be your own advocate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Unbound by Bridgeline:

Don't. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Unbound by Bridgeline solving and how is that benefiting you?

This review is about my experience with a prior employer. The benefits were that the site looked better and it was easier for customers to place orders - this replaced a pretty outdated site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"iAPPS Content Manager"

1/5

What do you like best about Unbound by Bridgeline?

It's simple. You can change the CSS and Script on every page. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unbound by Bridgeline?

The image display is very outdated even though they recently updated it! instead of displaying the most recent items first, you get it alphabetized. Why? If just makes for more clicking. You also can't select more than one image at a time making deleting mass images very difficult.

When you're making pages you cant make product pages on this, you have to use Commerce. You also cant duplicate product pages, you have to make them manually every time so if a page lives in multiple places on your site you have to create them over and over and over again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Unbound by Bridgeline:

Make sure you get this developed for your needs. Take your time in the beginning and have a professional help integrate your business with the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Unbound by Bridgeline solving and how is that benefiting you?

We upgraded from a very primitive commerce platform. Maybe not go with this product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fickle CMS that does not suit our needs anymore"

1/5

What do you like best about Unbound by Bridgeline?

It is very customizable, but our enterprise has about reached the limit of its customization. It is easy to learn. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unbound by Bridgeline?

It is not very user friendly and there are strange quirks, such as the fact that when dragging and dropping content items the window does not automatically scroll. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Unbound by Bridgeline:

Consider other content management systems. There have to be ones out there that are easier to use than iAPPS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Unbound by Bridgeline solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed a CMS to house all of our digital learning content. We have been able to use iAPPS to do so, but are at about the limit of what it can do for us. We are looking for something more plug and play. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Clunky and slow, lots of bugs"

2.5/5

What do you like best about Unbound by Bridgeline?

It's easy to embed videos through our YouTube channel when we need to do so quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unbound by Bridgeline?

Functionality is often cumbersome and feels like it involves more steps than necessary. Often the interface isn't working in certain browsers (I may have to use IE to load photos, but then Firefox to make text changes). Lots of bugs and crashes on our site. Our search feature is never working properly. Building out content/pages is chunky as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Unbound by Bridgeline solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tracking events more efficiently. Response site appeals to our client base. Won a few awards for the design/layout. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
