"Unverified Reviews: Lack of Protection and Insufficient Management of Fake Reviews"
0.5/5
What do you like best about Trustpilot?

The main benefit we recognize in Trustpilot is the visibility it can bring to a business and the recognition of its presence among consumers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trustpilot?

The main issue, in our experience, is the verification and management of disputed reviews and the lack of protection for businesses when they provide serious evidence questioning the attribution or authenticity of a review.

We notably received three consecutive negative reviews in less than an hour, presenting a context, construction, and grammatical formulations that were extremely similar. The authors were only identified by pseudonyms, and we found no records linking these experiences to our clients.

We reported the three reviews to Trustpilot and submitted the observed elements and similarities. Despite our reports, the reviews were maintained. We received no invoice, order reference, or sufficiently precise information allowing us to identify the alleged experiences.

More concerning, in another case, we managed to contact the author of a review. He eventually confirmed that his order had been placed with another company, on another website, and not with our company. He agreed to withdraw his review and sent us his invoice confirming this confusion.

We also contested another review three times, without being able to identify the person in our records. Trustpilot maintained the review, explaining to us that a purchase was not necessary for an experience to be considered authentic.

We fully understand that a negative review should not be deleted simply because a company contests it. We never ask for the removal of criticisms from genuine customers.

However, when a company provides concrete elements justifying serious doubt, we believe Trustpilot should conduct more thorough verifications and ask the author to provide sufficient information to establish that they truly had an experience with the concerned company.

A Trustpilot rating can have a significant commercial and reputational impact. Therefore, we believe the dispute system should offer more transparency, verification, and a better balance between consumer protection and business protection. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Unpredictable Moderation Undermines Trust in Trustpilot Reviews"
1/5
What do you like best about Trustpilot?

The idea behind Trustpilot is useful. I like having one place where I can quickly check what other customers are saying about a company before I use its service or buy something. When reviews are detailed and describe an actual experience, they can be genuinely helpful.

That's actually why I used Trustpilot in the first place. Unfortunately, my experience with how reviews are moderated made me question how much I can rely on what I see there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trustpilot?

The moderation process is the biggest problem for me. I don't understand what criteria are being used. A review gets removed, Trustpilot asks for proof, you provide exactly what they ask for, and then you can still get a message saying the review won't be published.

That's the part that really doesn't make sense to me. If my proof isn't enough, I would at least like to understand what's missing or what exactly is wrong. Instead, the whole process feels unpredictable.

After having this happen several times, I simply lost confidence in the platform. I don't want to keep spending time writing reviews and providing additional information when I have no idea whether the review will stay online anyway. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Useful Concept, But Needs More Consistent Detailed Reviews"
1/5
What do you like best about Trustpilot?

The idea behind Trustpilot is actually really useful. I like being able to check what real customers are saying before I try a new company, especially one I haven't heard of before. When there are enough detailed reviews, you can usually get a pretty good sense of the common positives and problems. That's honestly why I started using Trustpilot in the first place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trustpilot?

The moderation is what really frustrated me. I never understood why one review would be accepted normally and another would suddenly require proof. What bothered me even more was providing the requested information and still getting a response saying they had decided not to publish it, without an explanation that really helped me understand why.

At the same time, I would regularly come across very short reviews with almost no detail at all. That made the whole process feel inconsistent to me. I don't mind verification at all, but if you're asking users for extra proof, there should be a clear and predictable process for what happens next. After going through this more than once, I eventually stopped using the service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Aggressive Policies Undermine Utility"
0.5/5
What do you like best about Trustpilot?

Our experience has been really bad. We have over 1,200 reviews on Trustpilot and Trustpilot treats our business really badly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trustpilot?

I don't like Trustpilot because it doesn't work well. Trustpilot is always threatening legal action to our design and web design team, saying we cannot use the word Trustpilot or display any reviews on our website, and we can't even mention our rating. Trustpilot's aggressive policies and commercial practices are a big issue. They try to force subscriptions for using positive reviews, and their commercial team has been overly aggressive, even sending legal threats to our team and investors. It just feels like a very poor commercial practice. Also, they have no respect for GDPR, and the integration with Google Ads is terrible—you can't display reviews on Google Ads. "Transparent Reviews, Easy Navigation"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Trustpilot?

I really like the transparency of customer reviews on Trustpilot. It provides a quick overview of real user experiences, which makes it easy to understand a company's strengths and weaknesses before making a decision. I also appreciate how simple it is to search for companies and browse reviews. The platform is easy to navigate, and the rating system allows me to quickly get an overall impression of a business. Additionally, the initial setup of Trustpilot was straightforward, and the basic features were easy to start using right away. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trustpilot?

Sometimes it can be difficult to tell which reviews are the most representative of the overall customer experience. More detailed filtering and review verification options would make the platform even more useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Needs Better Protection for Legitimate Businesses"
0/5
What do you like best about Trustpilot?

Trustpilot is well known and widely recognised by consumers, making it easy for customers to leave reviews. The platform is simple to use, and displaying reviews on a website can help build trust with potential customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trustpilot?

My biggest concern is the review moderation process. In my experience, it is extremely difficult for businesses to challenge reviews, even when providing detailed evidence. I reported reviews that I believed were not from genuine customers and another that repeatedly described my registered business as a "scam". Despite supplying supporting documentation, the reviews remained online.

I fully support customers leaving honest feedback, whether positive or negative, but I believe there should be a better balance between protecting consumer opinions and protecting legitimate businesses from unsupported or potentially damaging allegations. The process felt heavily weighted in favour of reviewers, and it was frustrating that detailed evidence appeared to have little impact on the outcome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Trustpilot Builds Confidence with Reliable Reviews and an Easy-to-Use Interface"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Trustpilot?

Trustpilot, according to me, has more reliable reviews than other review sites that I have visited. With their wide variety of companies and services, and is a go-to for making decisions on going to an unknown establishment for dinner, or using a mechanic that a friend recommended. The interface is easy to navigate and there is a blog section that informs visitors of trends and gives guidance on how to write reviews. Not only is it useful for the end-user but businesses get to see how their products and services they put into the market are received by their customers/client, giving them the opportunity to respond to the review - facilitating a channel to resolve instances where a product failed or a client isn't entirely satisfied. This enables better product development, increases service levels, and also gives Joe Public a voice against the Corporation, keeping Big Business accountable and responsible. Trustpilot gives me the confidence I need to try new things. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trustpilot?

I generally actually like the site, and there isn't really anything that negatively stands out to me. A possible UI overhaul in aesthetics could modernise the experience, but that's really it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Trustpilot: Boosting Confidence with Verified Reviews"
4/5
What do you like best about Trustpilot?

I love how Trustpilot helps build trust by allowing people to read real users' reviews and share honest feedback. It's great for internal moderation, helping us identify areas for improvement and recognizing where we're excelling. I really like that it's easy for customers to sign up and leave a review. Also, the filtering system is very helpful for keeping track of one-star reviews, and email notifications alert us quickly, helping us address issues promptly. The integration with Slack is valuable too, allowing the whole company to stay updated and helping us put things right swiftly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trustpilot?

It can be difficult sometimes to get reviews moderated by their system. That's something that holds us back sometimes. But generally, it's pretty fair if we can prove that a review has been left in error or there's something untrue about the review, then we can get them removed. But that's probably the hardest part of the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
