What is Trello, and what problem is it built to solve?

Trello is a visual tool for organizing tasks and tracking work as it moves through a workflow. Teams use boards and cards to keep responsibilities, progress, and project details together instead of scattered across messages and notes.

What languages does Trello support?

Trello supports 21 languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, and Japanese, and others.

What company sizes and industries is Trello the best fit for?

Trello’s positive user base clusters most in small businesses, with additional representation from mid-market and enterprise organizations. Marketing and advertising, computer software, and information technology and services are also prominent industries among these users.
  • Company size: Small businesses — the largest cluster of positive users.
  • Company size: Mid-market — also represented among positive users.
  • Company size: Enterprise — represented across larger organizations as well.
  • Industry: Marketing and advertising — a prominent use context.
  • Industry: Computer software — another prominent use context.
  • Industry: Information technology and services — also well represented.

How long does it take to implement Trello across a team?

Trello can be quick to roll out, with the most common reported time to go live under a day. Some teams take longer, particularly when setup involves more work or broader adoption.

What customer support options does Trello provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support is available through email/help desk, chat, and self-service resources such as a knowledge base and FAQs. The support experience is mixed: users value helpful resources and responsive assistance, while others describe slow or unhelpful responses, especially for more involved issues.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Trello from another tool?

Switching to Trello from spreadsheets, email and chat threads, or more structured task-management tools is often driven by the appeal of a simpler, more visual way to organize everyday work. Users describe getting a clearer view of task status and ownership, with less setup and training; teams leaving Trello for another tool have also cited limits around complex workflows, reporting, and project views.

What tools and platforms does Trello integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Trello offers 30 integrations. Users connect it with communication, file and productivity, and project or developer tools to keep updates and work materials close to their task boards.
  • Communication: Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Gmail.
  • File and productivity tools: Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Workspace.
  • Project and developer tools: Jira, GitHub, and MuleSoft.

What features or capabilities could make Trello even more useful?

Trello could be more useful for larger or more complex work with stronger built-in visibility and structure. Common improvement requests include:
  • Richer reporting and analytics to make progress, workload, and project performance easier to assess.
  • Stronger task relationships and hierarchy for managing dependencies, nested work, and subtasks.
  • Better navigation on busy boards with more capable search, filtering, and ways to keep large boards organized.
  • More built-in capabilities for automation, planning views, and other workflows that currently lead teams to add-ons or upgrades.

How useful do Trello users find its AI features in everyday use?

Trello’s AI assistance can help with summarizing updates, extracting task details, and drafting or organizing work. Users describe it as useful for reducing repetitive setup and making information easier to scan, though suggestions may need review and the depth of the assistance can feel limited.
  • Summarizing and extracting information: turning lengthy discussions or task details into concise summaries and identifying items such as deadlines.
  • Drafting and organizing work: helping create task descriptions or checklists and arrange information into a clearer starting point.

"Intuitive, Flexible Visual Workflow Management with Trello"
5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

Trello is one of the easiest and most effective tools for organizing work visually. Its board-and-card layout feels intuitive and flexible, and it works well for everything from simple task tracking to lightweight project management. It’s fast to set up, easy for teams to adopt, and it keeps workflows clear without adding unnecessary complexity. Features like checklists, labels, due dates, and automations (Butler) help keep projects moving, while integrations with tools like Slack and Google Drive make it even more useful as a central place to manage tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

For more complex project management needs, Trello can start to feel limited compared with more structured tools. As boards grow larger, they can become cluttered and harder to navigate, and reporting or more advanced dependency tracking typically requires Power-Ups or other additional tooling. On top of that, some key features and automation limits are tied to paid plans, which can be an important consideration for growing teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is very simple to understand and drag or drop tasks from one board to another. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

It is good for small tasks but when it comes to big projects, it is hard. When the boards are increasing it become messy, advanced features are only available in paid plans. It has usage limits, which can restrict more complex workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive Task Management with Outstanding Visibility"
5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

I find Trello to be super convenient for my agency. I love its notifications which remind us of tasks and let me know when a project is completed by my team. It's a great tool to keep projects from falling through the cracks. I appreciate that it keeps everyone on the same page; as an operations manager, it gives me visibility over many projects and team members. Assigning Trello cards with checklists, different due dates, and seeing what needs to be done in our pipeline is very helpful. The ease of use is fantastic. Trello is intuitive and user-friendly, and I love that I can assign tasks and cards to different people, organizing everything in one card. It really helps to keep things organized. Setting up Trello was very easy, and even when we needed to switch how we set up the board, it was straightforward without losing any information. We've also appreciated its easy use, rating it a perfect 10 for recommendation. Although we could use the premium features, we've managed well with the entry-level paid plan. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

I guess that for me, it was just it was a cost factor. It just didn't fit into our budget to pay for the premium Trello. Even though there were a lot of features in there, I like we were able to manage without those. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Project Management with Intuitive Kanban Simplicity"
5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

What I appreciate most about Trello is its unwavering simplicity and the intuitive "digital sticky note" experience provided by its Kanban-style boards. Moving cards from "In Progress" to "Done" with a simple drag-and-drop is incredibly satisfying, giving me an immediate and visual sense of achievement. The platform is remarkably easy to learn; I can create a new project board within minutes, without the hassle of navigating through complicated menus. I also value the flexibility Trello offers—whether I'm overseeing a major marketing campaign or just planning my weekly grocery shopping, the interface adapts seamlessly to my needs and never feels "over-engineered."

I'm also a strong supporter of the "Butler" automation and the extensive range of Power-Ups available. I enjoy being able to set up straightforward rules that automatically move cards or add checklists based on due dates, which takes care of repetitive tasks for me. In 2026, I've found the newer AI-powered features, such as the "Resolution Board Builder," particularly helpful for brainstorming and breaking down complex goals into actionable steps automatically. Having everything—from file attachments to team comments—organized on a single card means I never have to search through my inbox to find the context for a particular task. What do you dislike about Trello?

Despite Trello’s strengths, I frequently encounter frustration when trying to manage more complex, multi-layered projects. One of my main issues is the lack of native support for task dependencies; if a task is delayed, I have to manually update every related card, since the timeline doesn’t adjust automatically. As my boards expand, they tend to become cluttered and harder to navigate, and the 5,000-item limit in certain views poses a real bottleneck. I also find myself relying too much on third-party Power-Ups just to access basic features like time-tracking or advanced reporting, which can make the workspace feel disjointed and more costly.

Additionally, I’m not pleased with some of the platform’s recent changes, particularly the new pricing model and the mobile experience. The restrictions on free workspaces seem to have removed features that were once standard, which is disappointing. While the mobile app is convenient for quick updates, it lacks the power of the web version, especially for managing board settings or handling complex automations. Another annoyance is the inability to delete boards or cards directly without first archiving them; this extra step feels unnecessary and prevents my workspace from feeling as clean and organized as I’d like. "Effortless Freelancing with Trello"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

I mainly use Trello for viewing boards created by my clients for work-related information. I love that Trello organizes everything in a single place and allows me to include bullet points, images, and links all in one board. It's very straightforward, hassle-free, and gives me the ability to include all details on the Trello board. As a professional animator, I find it easy to track and receive all relevant information like lists of animations and reference links from clients using Trello. The initial setup was very easy; I just created an account, got access to the client's board, and it opened as it is. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

I am not sure if it's possible right now or not. But being able to include small size gifs or videos could be very helpful just like images. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent Detailed Project Management with Trello!"

What do you like best about Trello?

Trello tasks are so easy to drag & drop, in a constantly changing environment, making project management so much easier! The ability to add attachments, link cards, etc. keeps everyone informed in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

The only thing I wish is that when you update a linked card's date, that it also updated the other linked card. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless project management with intuitive Kanban and seamless collaboration"
5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

The kanban board interface is highly intuitive, making project visualization feel effortless. The drag-and-drop functionality works seamlessly, and I find that the straightforward design of cards, lists, and boards remains unmatched by competitors. I also value the flexibility offered by Power-Ups, as well as how simple it is to collaborate with team members in real time, all without being burdened by unnecessary features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

The free plan comes with significant limitations, especially regarding Power-Up restrictions, which means Ш have to upgrade even for basic automation tasks. Additionally, the mobile app doesn't offer as seamless an experience as the desktop version. If I need advanced reporting features, I'll have to opt for a paid plan or rely on third-party integrations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Centralizes Data and Boosts Team Alignment"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

I use Trello for keeping notes, documents, and links, and I like how it centralizes all data and keeps everyone on the team in the loop. It's great that everyone can view updates and stay aligned with the information. I really like that I can pin the most important memos on top for everyone to see and appreciate that I can attach a range of different file formats to my notes. My team and I also like to keep things neat and simple. I also like that we can customize the colors on the memos and find it very easy to get started with since a team leader introduced it to us, and we just found our way through it later on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

I'd suggest to make the dashboard settings more friendly for new non-techy users. I had a hard time when I first started, but I got the hang of it in a few days. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A simple, flexible kanban board that stays out of your way"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

It's really just a kanban board, and that's the best thing about it. It doesn't try to force you into some opinionated workflow — it's flexible enough that you can use it for whatever you need. The free tier covers most of what I want, which is why I keep using it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

I was a little worried when Atlassian took it over — I liked the pre-acquisition Trello — but they've done a pretty good job of sticking to the original roots instead of turning it into a Jira lite. Mostly nitpicks from here: some advanced features sit behind power-ups/paid plans. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Trello Makes Kanban Task Tracking and Collaboration Effortless"
4/5
What do you like best about Trello?

Trello is a very useful tool for managing tasks in a Kanban style. It makes it super easy to see progress and keep track of a project. The user interface is intuitive and user-friendly, and there are also a lot of features that support collaboration. What I like most is the ability to drag and drop tasks from one list to another, and quickly assign priorities, due dates, and project members. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

Trello is great for managing simple projects, but if you need to handle large, complex projects with strong dependencies between tasks, it’s not the best choice. It doesn’t really support a robust task hierarchy, which makes it harder to organize and track work at that level of complexity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
