What is Trello, and what problem is it built to solve?

Trello is a visual tool for organizing tasks and tracking work as it moves through a workflow. Teams use boards and cards to keep responsibilities, progress, and project details together instead of scattered across messages and notes.

What languages does Trello support?

Trello supports 21 languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, and Japanese, and others.

What company sizes and industries is Trello the best fit for?

Trello’s positive user base clusters most in small businesses, with additional representation from mid-market and enterprise organizations. Marketing and advertising, computer software, and information technology and services are also prominent industries among these users.
  • Company size: Small businesses — the largest cluster of positive users.
  • Company size: Mid-market — also represented among positive users.
  • Company size: Enterprise — represented across larger organizations as well.
  • Industry: Marketing and advertising — a prominent use context.
  • Industry: Computer software — another prominent use context.
  • Industry: Information technology and services — also well represented.

How long does it take to implement Trello across a team?

Trello can be quick to roll out, with the most common reported time to go live under a day. Some teams take longer, particularly when setup involves more work or broader adoption.

What customer support options does Trello provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support is available through email/help desk, chat, and self-service resources such as a knowledge base and FAQs. The support experience is mixed: users value helpful resources and responsive assistance, while others describe slow or unhelpful responses, especially for more involved issues.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Trello from another tool?

Switching to Trello from spreadsheets, email and chat threads, or more structured task-management tools is often driven by the appeal of a simpler, more visual way to organize everyday work. Users describe getting a clearer view of task status and ownership, with less setup and training; teams leaving Trello for another tool have also cited limits around complex workflows, reporting, and project views.

What tools and platforms does Trello integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Trello offers 30 integrations. Users connect it with communication, file and productivity, and project or developer tools to keep updates and work materials close to their task boards.
  • Communication: Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Gmail.
  • File and productivity tools: Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Workspace.
  • Project and developer tools: Jira, GitHub, and MuleSoft.

What features or capabilities could make Trello even more useful?

Trello could be more useful for larger or more complex work with stronger built-in visibility and structure. Common improvement requests include:
  • Richer reporting and analytics to make progress, workload, and project performance easier to assess.
  • Stronger task relationships and hierarchy for managing dependencies, nested work, and subtasks.
  • Better navigation on busy boards with more capable search, filtering, and ways to keep large boards organized.
  • More built-in capabilities for automation, planning views, and other workflows that currently lead teams to add-ons or upgrades.

How useful do Trello users find its AI features in everyday use?

Trello’s AI assistance can help with summarizing updates, extracting task details, and drafting or organizing work. Users describe it as useful for reducing repetitive setup and making information easier to scan, though suggestions may need review and the depth of the assistance can feel limited.
  • Summarizing and extracting information: turning lengthy discussions or task details into concise summaries and identifying items such as deadlines.
  • Drafting and organizing work: helping create task descriptions or checklists and arrange information into a clearer starting point.

"Easy to Use, Clear Boards, and Helpful Integrations"
4/5
What do you like best about Trello?

Very easy to use and quick to implement. I was able to start using it almost immediately. I use it quite frequently for tracking tasks, and the board/card system keeps things simple. It also has a good number of features and integrates easily with other tools I use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

While it’s easy to use, managing larger projects can feel a bit limited. Some useful features and integrations are also only available in paid plans. Better customer support access for free users would make the experience even better.

Multiple core features are difficult to understand and implement, as there are no tooltips to make things smoother on the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The UI/UX is extremely simple, which works well for my construction company (they're typically not great at technology) but it helps keep our tasks on track Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

It’s expensive, but worth it if you pay upfront. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like best about Trello is its clean and intuitive UI that makes project tracking feel simple even for non-technical teams. The integrations with tools like Slack, Google Drive, and Jira work smoothly, while the platform stays lightweight and fast even with multiple boards. "Simple and effective tool for task management"
4/5
What do you like best about Trello?

What I like best about Trello is its simplicity and intuitive interface. The kanban-style boards make it very easy to visualize tasks and move them through different stages of a project. It’s quick to set up, easy for teams to adopt, and works very well for managing simple workflows and task tracking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

One downside of Trello is that it can become limited as projects grow more complex. While it works very well for simple task tracking, managing larger projects with multiple workflows, dependencies, and reporting needs can be more difficult. As teams scale, it may require additional tools or integrations to achieve the same level of visibility and structure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like best is its highly visual and intuitive Kanban board system. The drag-and-drop interface makes it incredibly easy to organize daily tasks, track project progress at a glance, and collaborate seamlessly with others. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

There isn't much to dislike! I just wish it had more advanced native reporting tools, but its clean simplicity is exactly why it works so well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Smooth UI and Automations, But Kanban and Card Comments Can Feel Hard to Track"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

If the paid plans there are many quality of life features and different automations that can be used to manage projects seamlessly. The user interface is very smooth and fluid. For those who like Kanban style project management, it works well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

My brain just doesn’t work that well with Kanban-style project management. I tend to mix elements of lists with a few mind-mapping approaches, so the Trello mechanism takes me a while to organize in a way that feels natural.

Also, the way teams interact with each other on cards through comments isn’t as transparent as I’d like. When there are a lot of exchanges, it’s easy to lose track of the conversation and any attachments.

Given the mismatch between how my mind works and the Trello setup, I don’t necessarily think it’s worth the price of admission. I wouldn't be able to optimized the return on investment Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive and Clean Interface, Effortless Project Management"
5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

I really like how simple the Trello interface is; it’s easy to understand for everyone on the team.

The pricing structure feels minimal and fair, which means we can onboard the whole team without a big financial burden. That’s helped us deliver projects more efficiently and at speed.

The drag-and-drop functionality on our kanban board has been incredibly helpful and has saved us hours of project management time.

Over the years, we’ve never had to rely on their support team because the product works exactly as expected. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

I don't really have any issues with Trello. They were acquired by Atlassian, which forces you to use the login as an account. That was a bit disruptive at the time, but other than that, no other issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Trello’s Customizable, Friendly Boards Make Organizing Everything Easy"
5/5
What do you like best about Trello?

Trello is just enormously customizable and friendly - you can use visuals, colors, checklists, columns, filters, and SO much more to organize both your work and personal lives. I have so many different boards and the platform just works great for whatever I'm trying to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

I find it slightly annoying when some features are arbitrarily siloed over in the paid tier, like putting dates on specific checklist items - but this is a minor complaint given how many functionalities are straight-up free! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
