I wish some reports were more customizable, and TestRail feels a little slow when I manage large test cases. With AI-generated test cases, I can review only the main title, not the individual steps before creating them. I’d like to preview and edit all the steps before saving. While TestRail is an excellent test management tool, one area that could be improved is its native handling of Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) workflows. Managing Gherkin syntax and syncing step definitions directly within the UI isn't always as seamless as it could be, especially when working extensively with automated frameworks like Cucumber. Additionally, as test suites grow very large, generating highly customized, multi-project reports can sometimes feel a bit rigid without relying heavily on custom API scripts. One specific frustration is spending significant time maintaining test cases instead of executing tests or improving coverage. It's easy for repositories to accumulate outdated or duplicate test cases if there isn't a regular review process. I like that TestRail gives us an organized place to store and manage our tests, and lets us reuse steps to avoid duplicate cases. It supports manual, exploratory, and automated testing. Our automation suites run daily, with a new run created each day and results shown in dashboards through the TestRail API. I also like the milestones for keeping in line with developers’ weekly or bi-weekly sprints and seeing what was covered. Setup was fairly simple: I got credentials from my manager and was all set up. I find TestRail’s UI slow and click-heavy, with full-page reloads to edit a single case and multiple tabs and menus to view or edit data. It feels dated and text-heavy, and I’d like more control over the layout. Settings are buried under admin controls, and as suites grow, they can be difficult to manage, with a lot of scrolling to find what I’m looking for. TestRail can require considerable manual effort to keep test cases, test runs, and results consistently up to date. As the test repository grows, maintaining outdated or duplicate test cases becomes increasingly time-consuming and adds extra process overhead. I’d prefer having consolidated test case counts at each parent folder level, so it’s easier to capture the number of test cases, especially when multiple teams are working within the same project.
