Aside from that, I like the User Interface ( UI ) of TestRail. It isn't hard to understand; but, you do have a slight learning curve. Once you understand the learning curve, it's not a bad test management solution. Plus, adding sections to your test suite displays as folders; which is great for organization. **What do you dislike about TestRail?** I don't like TestRail's Test Case Filtering System. I think that their pagination needs work. In order to operate the TestRail Pagination ability, you need to set the right-panel to "All", then "Selected", then "Compact View", and then you can use Pagination as you'd expect. Also, for finding a Test Case inside of your suite, it's more difficult because you don't have an intuitive way to filter for a specific test that you want to find. When compared to other providers who try to provide so much data and make us feel overloaded this is definitely lean and results are categorized properly. To explain more I can say that in results UI clearly tells which are the new set of failures and which has been there before already. And also its integration Jira is top-notch. This way we have automated that once a test case fails it can actually create a new JIRA and send a mail to all our related aliases. Also when compared to other tools which I have used in different organizations this one completely stands out. **What do you dislike about TestRail?** Nothing to complain about it's just perfect. It will be nitpicking but it might allow the data to be exported to various formats and templates rather than the standard set. Also even though I have seen that testrail grows in constant phases when new software is launched but I still feel that they need to have showcase events to showcase their new features and integrations so that testrail admins will pick and adapt the same. Like dark mode is available but we are not allowed to use it. Also when exporting data results it always prefer excel format but it would be really handy if it can create reports in other formats like PPT`s so that we can use the same for presentation rather than us copying all the data to our ppt template **What problems is TestRail solving and how is that benefiting you?** It organizes test cases efficiently we need to run the same set of test cases for different versions but when I add some test cases for issue fixes I just need to map the test cases to other versions. as simple as that. Also test results analysis is a very useful tool that can look up existing issues and map issues to them rather than giving us a set of raw data for us to analyze the same. Now we are working on categorizing the same set of test cases into multiple features and affected modules this will help us in the long term so that we can run test cases based on the module affected or feature affected. ### 30. And the other interesting option is we can easily track the status of each test and measure our test success with informative dashboards and reports. API integration for automation purposes is also very good. Keyboard shortcuts are very useful to use and help a lot while testing and writing test cases. **What do you dislike about TestRail?** sometimes downtime happens and if they can intimate before we can plan accordingly. and another thing is UI can be improved a lot as I gave a lot of presentations and all the new QA's say without training they could not use it. Test cases are reusable and I can report on some of their data. I can also import tests from Excel, move test cases between projects and change many test case values as a group (instead of individually). Overall, it has integrated so many of the things that I used to manage by hand that it's well worth the cost to use this for our team. **What do you dislike about TestRail?** The UI is a little clunky, the documentation is not super helpful, and the reports are not as customizable as I would like. I'd also like to be able to build out a tracking dashboard for one or more projects. These are not deal breakers and there's a lot of functionality I don't use. The tool can go down ANYTIME (literally): ur processes suggest intensive usage of TestRail on Wednesdays, and it was down twice half the day on Wednesdays last month. Moreover, it keeps going down all too often 2. Incompetent support: their support team works ONLY US hours and, if you work from any other location, you'll have to wait until they start working without a possibility to use TestRail, and we're on the most expensive plan. But even when they do work, you'll sometimes wish they didn't. Just one case can describe everything: we have daily backups (Enterprise feature) and when I started doing some management-related stuff, I noticed that I did several things wrong and decided to fall back to the latest backup (if I only knew what would happen then...). Once I started the restoration process, our instance went down with an uninformative error message. I waited several hours for a response from their support (again, Enterprise plan) and they said they fixed the issue. I logged in and saw that the instance wasn't actually restored to the backup so I tried to restore it once again and again went down the same road. Eventually, I gave up and fixed everything manually (which took a lot of time), told them they didn't resolve my issue and EXPLICITLY asked them not to restore anything for me. What do you think followed? In several weeks they contacted me back saying that they'd successfully restored my backup, I logged in and saw that they broke everything I'd fixed manually. This is just ridiculous. They reverted their changes pretty soon after I'd sent them several more emails but this experience was extremely frustrating. Incidentally, the backup feature that's heavily advertised as a huge Enterprise plan benefit just don't work at all still 3. Incompetent team: if you thought the issue was just with support, you're mistaken. What I noticed then (and their support team confirmed it) and keep noticing now is that when the instance goes down, it means they're doing something with the DB. Think about it for a second: they do something with the DB on a customer's Enterprise clound insatnce on production without any warnings just breaking your workflows for nobody knows how much time. They just probably don't know how to do their job... 4. Small but very annoying issues with the API. We use TestRail for reporting from automated tests and every now and then something fails with an error on their end: fails to return all test cases, fails to create/close a test run, etc. And it doesn't look like they ever try to fix that So, as a conclusion, we're EXTREMELY disappointed with this tool and I can't recommend it to anyone unless you're in for constant unplanned downtimes and issues. We were recomended to give it a try by many people saying TestRail was the market leader and was a fantastic tool. Maybe it WAS someday but it surely is no longer a leader because any company that values its reputation and customers wouldn't allow the team and their product to perform like that.
