I really like how Synergis Adept streamlines the process for making sure our 650,000 drawings are always up-to-date. It's great that the members at our plants can access the most recent versions, which is crucial for us. The feature where users can still see older versions if needed is also really helpful for revision comparisons. It's fairly easy to update drawings with the program and the updates go fairly quickly. I appreciate the much easier interface and the streamlined web application, which makes access quick and enhances the user experience for our teams in the plant. We haven't really been using the application much for phones or tablets. We still do most of it on the computer at this point. I'd like to see more done with that in the future. It is a powerful tool. If you chose to spend the money and purchase it I would recommend using all of the tools as a true document management system and not just a drawing repository as we did for years. I would also like to note that several of the issues we have with using Adept stem from the past several legacy versions of drawing management software that we used. Everything from the Adept experience, the help desk, and my first System Upgrade these folks are top notch with customer service . they really want you to succeed. The viewer curently doesn't have a option to print straight to a printer. I think once you learn the system there isn't a whole lot of dislikes. Document management is part of my job, and Being able to understand how to put files/drawings into the system and have the secure and be able to find them when someone ask for them. Currently that isn't the case, we have alot of missing meta data on the data cards but slowly we are adding that data. Using tools like file guides, smart search keys, column sets, data Base Fields, we are starting to realize Adept is a slick system that will do everything we need. I have met and spoken to many of the people who work for this company all the way to the top. Once you are involved with Adept you feel you are part of a team and you can reach out for assistance whenever its needed. Adept itself is a top-notch Document Management system. They LISTEN to suggestions made by their customers and continue to look forward and make enhancements. The software is solid and I feel our documents and their versions are secure. I think the most amazing thing is that they are always forward facing and they look to their customers for opinions and ideas and always make you feel like you are an important member of the Adept family. Yes, there’s a cost, but when you weigh that against the man-hours it saves and the security it provides, it feels like you’re truly getting what you pay for. It maintains a version history for files and an audit trail that shows who has viewed, copied, or revised a file. Having that level of control is a real benefit, especially with everything kept in one central location that’s accessible to the people who need it. The search engine is strong and saves time, which supports productivity and helps keep information accurate. It also keeps our documents secure by limiting access to only those who should have it, and it lets us fine-tune permissions and access levels as needed. Also, if extractable information is available, and the search card is well files are easy to search. What do you dislike about Synergis Adept? The software is cumbersome to install and often requires an Adept Administrator to come back and repair or reinstall one or more files. In addition, there are many nuances that can make the software finicky if the settings are not correct. It also takes years to develop in-depth knowledge of the software. Version control and the audit trail help give a good reference of any changes that occurred and who made changes to files. This is especially helpful when there has been turnover in the organization because you can see exactly what changes occurred regardless of what revision information may or may not be documented. The availability of both software and mobile/web versions provides greater adaptability for users with respect to UI. The software’s performance lags and needs improvement, especially to better adapt to a SaaS cloud solution. Simple, easy to understand document management that meets all our business goals. Adept integrate with Autodesk software very well. I love how it handles xrefs in AutoCAD. What do you dislike about Synergis Adept? There are no downsides to having all your documents in an easy to find system! I haven't found a good solution to store laser scanned point clouds with the individual scan files in the "support" folder in Adept yet. Recommendations to others considering Synergis Adept: Adept has solved all of our document management system needs. They had an amazing data migration team that was able to transfer everything from an old document management platform into Adept without any troubles. This made our transition smooth. Synergis Software has a great project management and software consulting team that performs our software upgrades on our servers each time we upgrade. What do you dislike about Synergis Adept? \*\*I requested a feature request \*\*More and more companies are moving to electronic file storage. Because of this, files are almost handled like assets which have life cyles. In addition, these files are a lot of times the source for confirming installation dates of equipment or are used in the determination of depreciation for accounting records. In my opinion, companies must develop or refine policies and procedures on file retention. I would love to see Adept develop a module for administrators to use as a tool for file retention.
