SureSync offered by Software Pursuits shines best in the replication and synchronization of files or multiple files. It is an excellent choice for backing up your backups like a NAS to NAS backup or a Server to Server backup. SureSync is file-sharing software and includes features such as document management and file synchronization. Compatible with Windows and Windows Server, SS also offers FIPS encryption and bit-level synchroniztion providing excellent security and data protection. The file locking feature provided in the collaboration version is an excellent feature to protect against accidental deletions. You can schedule backups for a future run or run them 24/7 depending on your needs and circumstances. If there's a hiccup in the sync or replication of files, you'll get an email alert notifying you of what has happened and what you can do. I installed SureSync Real-Time on servers running Windows 2000 Server (Win2K Server) beta 3. The installation was simple and uneventful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
To begin with, I think the entry cost is steep. At $495, the standard version isn't meant for individuals or small businesses when there are so many alternatives, which cost a fraction of this, at least to get started. There is a trial version available, but one needs to contact Sales if one is to buy. While this may be alright, in today's web world, it is much preferred to have an online purchase option. Being restricted to just Windows environment is also not something I'd like especially when most backup servers or servers, in general, operate on a Linux distro. There's also no support for iOS. While installing it on our server, I ran into an error and contacted support. I still am yet to hear from them and this was 3 days ago. Wish they had better customer support available.
