Once the root causse is detected it is easier to fix the data to get the expected results on the front end. **What do you dislike about Spotlight Cloud?** You should know the SQL very well however it is a prerequisite for most of the database management tools. **Recommendations to others considering Spotlight Cloud:** Highly recommend the Spotlight Cloud for saving time and resources in data management. **What problems is Spotlight Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am using it for storing and analyzing data. Data integrity is the crustal part of my project and Spotlight helps in achieving the target. ### 2. Perfect SQL Monitoring solution for IT, Support and Dev Teams **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Darren M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2020 **What do you like best about Spotlight Cloud?** Spotlight cloud's best feature for me is the Heatmap. I can view the status of hundreds of SQL and Windows Servers at a glance, with simple color coding that makes it easy to tell which servers need attention. My IT Staff have the dashboard up all day and can quickly drill down to view details about why a server status has changed. Since implementing Spotlight, they've caught missed SQL Jobs, or jobs with errors, space related issues, and performance related issues. The IT Team can see when a CPU core is maxing out and can investigate further to find out if something abnormal is happening. My Support staff can use the Health check to troubleshoot performance issues raised by clients, and the work load analyzer allows them and the dev teams to drill down to specific SQL Statements that may be experiencing issues. As a cloud application, the headaches of managing our own monitoring servers in-house are gone. **What do you dislike about Spotlight Cloud?** I have trouble thinking of anything that I dislike. There are features that I would like to see added to future versions, such as the ability to assign an alias or name for a query in the Workload Analyzer, but otherwise, once my team and I started using the features of Spotlight, we couldn't imagine going back to our old monitoring solutions. **What problems is Spotlight Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?** IT awareness of what's going on across hundreds of servers on one pane of glass. Performance troubleshooting / staying ahead of performance issues before customers have a chance to report them. ### 3. The only things that are causing us a bit of an issue are: - the time of the Spotlight collection particularly the Fragmentation collection - the Deadlock Graph does no appear to be available unlike the previous on-premise version- the execution plan analysis does not seem to be as reliable as the previous on-premise version - it keeps asking us to logon after few minutes when moving from a screen to another - reports are not as extensive as before **Recommendations to others considering Spotlight Cloud:** Spotlight excels as a product as it correlates counters at time range level (real time and historically) **What problems is Spotlight Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?** Performance and misconfiguration issues on inherited systems ### 4. Our team keeps the heatmap dashboard visible all day, allowing them to jump on any servers that go "red". Spotlight drill-downs provide actionable insights that allow my team to solve the underlying issues in a timely manner. The greatest benefit is that problems frequently get solved before our customers even notice. **What do you dislike about Spotlight Cloud?** I wish I could acknowledge alarms with a single click instead of two clicks. **Recommendations to others considering Spotlight Cloud:** Take the time to review the drill-downs and other views of server data. There are some amazing insights built into the tool if you take the time to find them. **What problems is Spotlight Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?** Blue Link provides software as a service, Spotlight provides at-a-glance visibility into the status of servers, and more importantly, provides useful insights into how to solve problems. The IT Team can see that servers are up and that backups and SQL Jobs are running properly. The development teams can leverage performance tracking and index optimization recommendations to improve overall product performance.
