**What do you like best about SmartBug Media?**

Smartbug knows the ins and outs of the Google search engine extremely well. Our customer service rep is constantly looking at our PPC results to see what modificaitons can to be made for better outcomes. If something isn't working well he will do the legwork to see what needs to be tweaked and run it by us before the change is made. Overall our return on add spend has been great.

**What do you dislike about SmartBug Media?**

As with any business we'd always like to see more leads. Even though Smartbug is doing a great job, we'd appreciate more sales opportunities and customers.

**What problems is SmartBug Media solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SmartBug helps provide our company with customer leads which convert to appointments.

They are not the least expensive provider in this space, but they are very good.

Use them if they are offered to help you and do not miss a meeting. I was very busy at the time of my onboarding and I wish that I would have had better time management to really focus and use the time I had with Smart Bug to complete the homework I was given.

**What problems is SmartBug Media solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our company onboarded Hubspot and Mike from SmartBug was more than helpful. He worked with me to figure out the system and how it could work with our CRM using Zapier integrating that with our website and setting up Hubspot properly. It was such a great experience. I would strongly suggest that anyone who is connected with Smart Bug stay consistent with your weekly meetings and complete the task that was given to you, I struggle with that now but it's no one's fault but my own because at the time I was so overwhelmed with current situations at our company that I failed myself for not staying more laser-focused on this project and it shows from time to time. But Mike was absolutely helpful.

We could have allocated more time to trainings, which was not necessarily SmartBug's fault as we had a lot of customization requests that burned up time

SmartBug helped us design and implement HubSpot with a lot of customization for our needs. They were quick and patient with all of our stops and starts since we are a very lean team with a lot of competing priorities.

If you are selling and promoting a service, own it.

**What do you dislike about SmartBug Media?**

Lack of web development and strategy, inability to think outside of the box, lack of market research of our specific industry, pricing for what you get.

**Recommendations to others considering SmartBug Media:**

I would recommend their marketing services, but DO NOT recommend website development.

**What problems is SmartBug Media solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am very familiar with SmartBug and their capabilities when it comes to marketing services which they do an outstanding job. Unfortunately, they missed the mark with our website redesign. Now, we are out a significant amount of money and will need to hire another web developer to redo everything...and I mean everything. Here's what went wrong:
1. Lack of understanding what we wanted from the beginning. We are in a simply industry and wanted a website to reflect. After continuing to miss the mark, month after month, I personally explored our competitors websites (NOTE: I AM NOT IN MARKETING) and provided content as to what we wanted, but it was too late. To add simple imagery or a banner showcases our industry would cost up $7,000+ to the total cost. It's visually terrible and does not speak our brand. I am utterly embarrassed to direct anyone to it.
2. Hubpot's limitations. It's nice in theroy that you can "own" your website and make changes, but with Hubspot, the limitations will waste your time and ultimately, I will need to hire another web developer who is familiar with Hubspots...not too common! You can change content all day long, but you can't upload new imagery and the margins are really confusing to work with. It's all blocks!
3. You will have several different PMs during your contract - team members kept changing so it was tough to keep consistency. 
4. Zero consultation. In SmartBug's defence, I was not original to the kick-off, however, my former colleague took complete control (so I hear) As you are providing web services and being the expert in development, I would have hoped that you were have given direction or feedback to what is best for a website/company. Instead, you let someone who is not in marketing make the decisions. Our entire website is now ChatGPT (which I am having to slowly go through it - again, I am not a marketeer and this is not my job) beacuse come to find out, we are scoring VERY low on Google analytics because of this. Again, take control SB and advise your customers on website development.

SmartBug took over our local Google PPC campaign in June, and since then, we've seen a significant increase in leads and improvements in SEO. We are extremely pleased with the results theyve delivered. Our account representative, Brock, has been outstanding—he’s highly communicative and a pleasure to work with.

About 2-3 year ago, we transitioned from using Pardot to HubSpot. SmartBug helped us with that transition and set up and has since helped with special projects within HubSpot.

Our company decided to move onboard with Hubspot this year. We were recommended from Hubspot with the Smartbug Onboarding service. Casey Peddicord helped a quick and successful transition on the both marketing and sales sides. He helped set up the integration between Hubspot and our CRM salesforce, created and mapped all the data properties. He also helped creating all the assets in the new account, including emails, workflows and forms. On the Sales side, he helped the brokerage team (over 50 sales users with zero hubspot experience) set up the Hubspot sales account and trained them on how to use the system for sales outreach and lead generation. He constantly blow us away by his level of professionalism. He is also very easy to communicate when it comes to customer needs. He helped us finalized the contracts and showed different teams how to optimize the system to achieve our goals. Even after the onboarding service, we gladly extended the contract and bought more consulting/supporting time with Casey. I'd highly recommend Casey from Smartbug to anyone who's looking for Hubspot consulting service. You will be in good hand!

The folks I work with are some of my favorite. There are lots of capable teams out there but during the initial RFP I felt the most comfortable with the Smart Bug team. Certainly they came highly recommended by my HubSpot contact, which helped trememendously to move the needle.

**What do you dislike about SmartBug Media?**

I really only have positive to say. We've had our hiccups but that comes with working with a third part vendor for over a year now. They are responsive, creative and helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering SmartBug Media:**

Same recommendation I would suggest when hiring any new team, ask lots of questions, make sure your major requirements are clear from the get go. That has certainly helped us with many vendors.

**What problems is SmartBug Media solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We first used SmartBug Media to get our Hubspot stood up (we were migrating to Hubspot from Marketo and Pardot). They were organized, efficient and fun to work with. Since then we've hired them to help us stand up a totally new Hubspot website and the process took several months and certainly had it's challenges. They tackled everything and always left me feeling confident that we were going to succeed.

The best part about working with SmartBug is their ability to deftly manage and drive success from the "known", even while they help us find and understand the unknown opportunities or nuances that we could be leveraging for greater success. There has yet to be a challenge we've faced where SmartBug wasn't either part of the solution, or among the thought leaders leveraged to find a solution. They are the experts you never knew that you always wanted.

**What do you dislike about SmartBug Media?**

While not a dislike or a downside...I will share that SmartBug comes in at the higher end of the cost spectrum for these types of services. That said, it is inarguably true that you get what you pay for in terms of agency support, so any concerns over cost should be considered against the lesser product/services available from others with a lower-buy in. SmartBug costs more because they are worth more.

**Recommendations to others considering SmartBug Media:**

Be as open an honest as you can with your SmartBug team--there can sometimes be a hesitance to show your past failed attempts at anything professionally, and these missteps or failed experiments can offer helpful color to your SmartBug team as they help you find alternative ways to problem solve. I would also be honest with them up front over your budget and expense options to be sure you are truly getting the support you need without automatically including and paying for additional services. My greatest recommendaiton, though, is to trust them. If you've been around for a while, you've no doubt seen the 90% boiler-plate approach to agency reporting...where lots of jargon + a few stats comprises the performance reporting. With SmartBug, they call them as they seem them and share the good-bad-and indifferent results with you honestly so that you can, together, forge the best path forward. From day one, they've felt like an extension of my in-house team vs some add-on agency working in a silo.

While we highly value SmartBug and our relationship, I think it’s also important to put the Spotlight on their representatives such as ours JOSH WILLIAMS! 

 

We have been with Josh since March of 2018.  Josh began working with us in 2020 at the height of COVID.  We were seriously considering changing PPC consultants until he arrived as our account manager. 

 

Josh came in and first educated us on all metrics in our dashboards, steering us to graphs that were relative to what we should focus on evaluating.  He then changed our Google descriptions, assisted us with making adjustments and we saw a 25% increase in leads.   

 

Josh also went well above and beyond monthly meetings, making himself available to us for impromptu calls.  He cares about our success and ensures that he provides us with all we need to carefully target and utilize our monthly spending.  

 

 In 2021 our annual revenue Increased by $600K and Josh, his recommendations, were a major part of that gain.

Like most things in life you get what you pay for. SmartBug is not the inexpensive agency who will crank out a quick project on the cheap. Their services are considered pricey but you you quickly understand why when you begin to see the results.

Our Marketing Strategist (Sara Wolfe Vaughan) and Director of Client Services (John Suarez) genuinely care about making us successful.  They have done a great job of understanding our needs and driving to execute them.    They also do a good job managing me, and pushing back internally.

SmartBug has many people who do many different things, which is great but can be challenging.  Sara does a brilliant job organizing and managing everyone.

The broader team at SmartBug also does a solid job with their specialties.

The overall strategy and execution are working well for us at this stage, and I'm looking forward to seeing it expand over the next few quarters.

Agencies can get expensive with hourly rates and add-ons.  This is the same for any professional services firm.  Overall I feel SmartBug is fair and balanced with this, but it's also something to pay attention to closely.

They are highly focused on the Hubspot ecosystem, and my company is deeply engaged in the Salesforce ecosystem, so that has created challenges.   I would love it if they had a Salesforce practice!

The Marketing Strategist consultant is the most important role you engage with, so ensure there is a deep sense of trust, transparency, and effective communication with that person specifically.

**What do you like best about SmartBug Media?**

Communication. They are great at recognizing the need to schedule weekly standups when we are actively working on a launch. We have even done daily stand ups when a target was not going according to plan. Just a very knowledgable and well rounded team.

**What do you dislike about SmartBug Media?**

I have not found anything yet! I have had a great experience with them so far.

Look no further than SmartBug when looking for a partner to assisting digital marketing.

**What problems is SmartBug Media solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smart Bug is a partner with us(RPM Industrial Coatings Group) with our implementation of HubSpot across several business units in our group. This is not an easy task to say the least as most of our reps at the current BU have very little to no experience with any kind of CRM. Melissa and teams knowledge on how to structure everything and timing of it all has greatly helped us successfully launch Sales Hub and an ERP integration. We are approaching a launch of Marketing AND Service Hub as well. We truly couldn't do this without them.

**What do you like best about SmartBug Media?**

We don't have to drive them, they drive us. They are highly organized, disciplined, communicate daily with us, and can rapidly pivot and course correct based upon shared, data-driven decision making. They also are willing to bring in new talent with different capabilities when new challenges arise or their initial choice turns out not to be the best fit with what we need. Their entire Team,  including their CEO, They deeply care about helping us achieve great success!

**What do you dislike about SmartBug Media?**

They could be more systematic in their use of data analytics, what is working and what is not, to guide decision making about next quarter's strategic plan.

**Recommendations to others considering SmartBug Media:**

We have worked with three digital marketing firms prior to SmartBug, and they are far and away the most capable firm. Their level of strategic thinking, organization, attention to detail, project management execution, and deep caring about our success is unparalleled. I would recommend that prior to engaging with them you have a clear understanding of what your near term, intermediate term, and longer-term business goals are; and what are your current strengths and weaknesses around marketing and sales. Also, be able to share with them who your main competitors are, and what differentiates you from them.

**What problems is SmartBug Media solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have Big Hairy Audacious Goals to double revenue and triple EBITDA in the next three years, prior to a national expansion of our Root Cause Psychiatry Program. SmartBug initially helped us with sales enablement by building out numerous automated workflows, which, combined with effective training of our sales team, has resulted in 35% higher close rates, and a 20% increase in new patient bookings. We are now focused on aggressively growing the number of inbound leads, and SmartBug is helping us through providing excellent content development strategies, and laying out the plans for a managed PPC and Social Media advertising campaign.

SmartBug surpasses any marketing agency I've ever collaborated with (and I've collaborated with many). It's almost unfair to label them merely as an "agency"; they truly feel like a valuable partnership or an extension of my own team. I thoroughly enjoy our collaboration and would wholeheartedly endorse them to anyone seeking exceptional support in the realm of digital marketing.

That I don't have enough room in our budget to get more hours with them =)

If you're involved in digital marketing, you likely have a multitude of responsibilities. What's essential is partnering with an agency that doesn't burden you with additional work but rather acts as a true collaborator.

I can't say enough about the level of stress reduction having SB as a partner we can rely on and trust for both planned and unplanned work.  Highly recommend.

The best people get promoted (as they should) and "leave us".... it's inevitable, but we get so attached it can be hard :)

**Recommendations to others considering SmartBug Media:**

Ensure you have the right level of development and support in your contract type, based on your needs and budget.   We needed something in between the two main options for our investment level, and were able to work it out with SB leadership because we had been long-standing customers.  We were very grateful and it made all the difference in our ability to be nimble and "right-sized" in terms of budget.

**What problems is SmartBug Media solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SmartBug is our go-to resource for managing our Hubspot-based website, email marketing workflows, contacts and operations databases, etc.  We have become quite self-sufficient on many aspects of our Marketing tech, including Hubspot tasks like page building, email setup, and template tweaks.  However, there is often a case where something isn't working how we anticipated or it is just something that dev needs to look at.  There are other cases where we need full support from design to execution and testing.  In all instances, we get prompt support with the appropriate sense of urgency and attention to detail.  Our account team is simply the best.  They provide us regular avenues for communication, collaboration, and support --and give us positive reinforcement even when accidentally break something!

I've been working with our Smartbug team - Chelsey Clayton and Boris Palacios -to increase our digital presence as well as build a new website - they are so helpful researching topics - creating solutions for challenges we might have - and keeping us on task for deadlines - and overall just a great resource for us. Their knowledge of HubSpot, digital/social media best practices, and work ethic has been so valuable to us.

The people - very collaborative and helpful when I joined as a new employee. Holly and Sofia are great to work with and very responsive.

**What do you dislike about SmartBug Media?**

I would not say this is a disklike about SmartBug but rather an internal issue at our organizaiton. Our marketing department needs to improve collaboration directly with SB before they create a program that they deem benefical. I believe the team at SB could help fill some of our marketing gaps if utilized in a broader capacity. As a helpful note- SB is currently and extension of our sales team and our marketing departmetn reports to a different division in our organization.

Their team is helping with industry best practices for increasing awareness to our brand. Thier input and recommendations using our crm tool is allowing me to filter out the real opportunities and focus my team on the prospects that fit our ideal client profile.

Like many digital agencies, Smartbug has not developed a deeper understanding of our market, product, and domain. To this end, we often spoonfeed the content and content related strategies.

We are a fast growing, bootstrapped, B2B SaaS company. Smartbug have not only helped us acquire game changing enterprise customers, but they have driven a huge increase in brand awareness. They have created a comprehensive digital marketing strategy (paid, organic, PR, content, sales enablement), and streamlined the operation using our tech stack (CRM, Sales Intelligence, etc.).

Jake Ryan with Chair10 is our PPC representitive. After the second month he made some adjustment to our PPC campaign to smart bidding and has been consistantly under franchise benchmarks. He communicates well and continues to keep our performance at a high level.

They have a very strong inbound marketing machine.  I know once we launch key initiatives with SmartBug that the team will manage the initiative professionally, manage it as a project, and help us to plan and execute with a high degree of efficiency.

Sometimes getting things turned around very quickly can be challenging, if the initiative is not planned out in advance.  But this is understandable.  As long as we're well planned, then their inbound marketing engine helps plan, execute, and drive results!

SmartBug is highly effective at inbound marketing, demand generation, website development, lead generation, and especially at planning and executing on key marketing campaigns for our organization.  I would highly recommend them as a digital marketing agency!

SmartBug is focused on inbound marketing, demand generation, lead generation, and measuring our marketing impact.  

Our marketing team is small, but we needed a strong partner.  They have been helping us to increase our metrics for demand generation and lead generation by over 80% YoY.  

They have mad such as strong impact on our organization in this area, and also helped us to redesign and launch a new website.
