"If you're old, you probably love it!: Emacs has been around forever. It is extremely extensible. Anything you can do, you can probably do in Emacs. The old joke was that Emacs had everything but the kitchen sink, so emacstool's icon was a kitchen sink. I like that it is consistent and I've been using it so long my fingers know their way around it. I can do pretty much anything anyone can do with their fancy IDEs."

NoteTab review by Wiz F.
"Recommendation from a long time NoteTab user: NoteTab Pro (and free) is one of the best rich text and html editors I have, or have ever used. It is a tab oriented text editor. It colors html tags with different colors for links and text. NoteTab makes use of a system called clips, which are written in plain text readable clipcode. A user can edit the built in and downloadable clips or create their own. I use my own html clip to load any tag, attribute, element or modification I want to an html page. The current version ships with an html 5 clip that has all of the W3C approved tags and attributes. Any number of tabs can be opened as new pages, or saved works in already in use. You can drag and drop a text or html file onto NoteTab (even on an open tab) and it will open as a new tab! The tabs line up along the top and have left and right arrows on one side to scroll through them. Or, the open tabs can be stacked in long horizontal rows if you prefer. The search function can either search the tab you are in, or all open tabs for matching words, terms, codes, or regular expressions. There is also a search disk function that searches any folders you list, including or excluding sub-directories. Matching documents can be selected to open in separate tabs. There is a search and replace box for the open tabs that accepts both plain text and regular expressions. There are two web browser buttons on a toolbar to open your current document in one of two configurable web browsers (if they are installed). NoteTab does outlines, plain text, rich text, unicode and html, as well as php and other code languages that are not binary encoded. If another editor modifies the content of a tab that is open in NoteTab, a box pops up asking if you want to refresh and load the new content."

"Komodo Edit flies: 1. Cross-platform ( Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux ). 2. Firefox style extensions. 3. A lot contemporary color schemes. 4. Built-in FTP and SFTP, even with key authentification. It allows editing remote files directly and working with cloud-based projects. 5. Not Java-based. Java-based applications are very memory consuming. 6. Polyglot (as for languages ). 7. Many unique features. 8. Syntax support for rare, not popular and commercial programming languages. 9. Auto-completion functionality is excellent. 10. Syntax checking is configurable / customizable / extensible for every specific programming language. There are internal and external linters / hinters / etc. 11. Free full-fledged IDE. 12. Support is very responsive and one can easily contribute or post an issue. 13. Intuitive interface. 14. Easily integrates into desktop environment (GUI theme, system environment variables, custom installation folder, etc.). 15. As for my experience Komodo Edit never crashes. 16. Native unicode support and unicode compatibility checking. 17. Feature rich and various unique features. 18. International. "

"Vanguard, stability and quality, use it now!: One of the things I like most about EditPad Lite is that you can use it for everything you need to write digitally in your work. The notes of the meetings are transcribed by EditPad Lite, not for a matter of caprice or advertising, but it offers me a stable program that will not compromise the functioning of my pc. Another thing that I like so much is that it can be combined with other web page editing jobs, or pass ideas to the department in charge in a format that is universal in the computer world. All those things make me like it a lot, it has a simple interface, friendly with experts and at the same time, with people who venture into the field of computing. It also adapts perfectly to all those people who are looking for a text editing program that is true to what is being sought, writing all work and personal ideas without major problems."
