## Twilio Segment Reviews
 ### 1. My hub for taking action on in-product events

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** William W. | Head of Growth, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Segment makes it easier to unify and take action on events across my tech stack. For example, I use Segment to monitor key events within Product then push those to a transactional email tool (Customer.io) for lifecycle messaging.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

Implementation can sometimes take a bit of technical know-how or support from a developer.

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

From a marketing perspective, check with your dev or product team to make sure they are committed to adequately implementing and maintaining the segment tags. Also, make sure that Segment not only connects with key platforms in your stack but that you have a clear idea of how the data will actually be leveraged

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Syncing event and lifecycle data across platforms, which is key for effective product marketing.

 ### 2. Excellent for the whole company (from marketing to engineers)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Segment is pretty easy to set up, and from day 0 it provides a lot of ease on the data-driven culture of a company focusing on understanding its customer base. Also, the numerous integrations made us run instead of walk towards our goal, making good data available for the whole company. We are yet a small team, but with Segment's robust data warehouse, we can scale the operations without struggling with that, which is a huge pain point for many companies.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

There are some integrations of popular products that don't have native integrations yet, like Pipedrive. However, those can be built with Zapier or Segment's API calls.

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

Try to qualify for the startup program, if that is your reality. The program's really helpful.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are gathering data for our product-led growth initiatives. The main benefits that we see are the ease of use, the speed of the setup, the robustness of the warehouse, the integrations, and the process of managing everything from a single place.

 ### 3. The data collector for your business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aboudi O. | VP Experience, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2021

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Very rich in integrations, a vast library of support tools, and a straightforward and structured onboarding program.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

As with any powerful platform, setting up Segment does take time, and anyone who is planning on using it should have enough time dedicated for the process.

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

Take your time to understand the platform correctly and to think through what you need to use Segment for to ensure a smooth onboarding process

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are gaining the ability to track our user behavior without making considerable changes to our platform. We will be able to understand better our customers' behavior allowing us to gauge their health correctly and derive important analytics to improve our platform.

 ### 4. Segment Review (:

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maria G. | Data Scientist / Business Analytics Intern, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

The interface is really clean, to find what you need is really easy and simple. Synchronized with Segment, I use the Amplitude. Being able to see the track events in real-time with all the properties is really good!

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

Sincerely, there's nothing on Segment right now that I dislike, I think this web app is really good for the purpose of event tracking. As I said, it's a really clean interface.

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

It's a wonderful web app, no doubt.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm dealing with event tracking. In Segment, the events come and we can see its properties. Also, from Segment, the event, and its properties, are sent to Amplitude.

 ### 5. Figuring out user behaviour

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Larissa G. | C, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

The tool allows to "spy" on user behaviors; see where they spend time, which links they click the most, and which areas they avoid. Inserting little code snippets to specific areas of the page helps to track the trajectory of the click-throughs. It was a real revelation to see that graphics and text I liked the most users avoided completely! I also liked that even being a non-programmer, you can accomplish some tracking.
I also was able to get answers about my site health and introduce some design improvements though it was not easy!

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

To get real results, you need to insert code snippets. This means most likely, and you need to ask a programmer to do the job and spend $$. Also, free services are limited to 1000 users a month, and I had more, but the price tag is quite steep.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When you have problems building a customer base, you need to know what's going wrong. Segment provides verification of the business idea through the customer behavior analysis. Analyzing where the time was spent the most allows to find the most attractive parts of the page or website and eliminate those which do not attract customers' attention. For those familiar with Google Analytics, it is especially valuable as you can use familiar interface to see through the site problems.

 ### 6. Connect everything

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pablo D. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

The number of differnt integrations it offers, the events get to the destinations very fast and it's very reliable. The debugger it's also awesome it helps a lot to know whats going on, you get feedback very fast.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

The documentation sometimes it's not very accurate, you are forced to use the debugger also to know what's going on.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use lots of tools and Segment helps a lot to integrate barely any tool related to events, and also you can change providers without changing a line of code on your app, the only problem is having the integration in segment but it's very probably it exists, continue this way

 ### 7. A Focus on Speed To Contact with an easy Integration to existing CRM

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lincoln T. | Sales Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Coming into a new role it's always daunting having to learn a new platform or program, however, the easy-to-use functionality and ability to integrate Twilio helps streamline all those time-consuming tasks that can take you away from the end goal.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

Some of the issues I found when first learning the platform was in the onboarding process, not being familiar with the platform I was looking for a basic breakdown and instructional demo to help familiarise myself with.

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

If you are looking for a platform that helps you natively address customers and manage tasks I would suggest looking at investing some time and seeing if it's the right fit for your business model.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working in software and tech I deal with a lot of customers coming to me asking questions, having the one-stop platform where I can respond and engage helps increase the speed to contact which reflects through our records and nps score.

 ### 8. Easy setup and management for controlling data flows

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andy B. | Business Coach and Head Strategist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Segment has been fantastic for us to add new destinations for our data, we can trial out different analysis tools, and pick best of breed without having to integrate to each one. It has also freed up development resources because business analysts and other users can set up new destinations without being reliant on the development team.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

The downside of the above is that the development team can lose site of where data is going and how it is being used. Great for business analysis, not so great for data management. I'm very happy Segment has introduced the privacy portal to help manage that data, where it is flowing and how it is used.

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

Easy integration tool that can be handled by business analyst or even product owner. Great for extending out tools and enabling business to drive integrations.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having to do everything by manual integration, or developer configuration. Has massively impacted our reporting and analytics data, as well as ensuring as much data as possible is available in all platforms.

 ### 9. A great platform with awesome support and success staff to help get the most out of the product.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam B. | Group Data Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

UI is good for setting things up non-technically

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

There can be a lot of jargon and documentation for what, ultimately, is a simple thing.

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

It's a great way of wrapping your customer (and other) data together across all your internal tooling.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hooking up marketing journeys to customer activities, deduplicating customers, managing permissions, pipelining data

 ### 10. Lots of promises

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

The best thing about Segment is how it rallies the team around instrumenting events to make use of the massive amount of money you have spent. If you have a few common tools, it also helps sync those events or SAAS products to your data warehouse, but is overall a much more expensive solution than something like Fivetran, Stitch, et al for that latter use case. As far as data sync goes, it does help with data governance, but I can't help but think how that can be afforded through a conscious effort in a smaller team without such constraints.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

During the sales process and throughout the documentation, Segment promises a lot of things by either omitting information or oversimplifying integration. It is very worthwhile to read thoroughly through that documentation to fully understand the integration efforts before you sign a contract, as it isn't always as simple as firing an event to segment and pushing it somewhere else. They are improving this with cloud actions, but they can only do so much to abstract away the complexities and individual requirements of downstream destinations.

The Segment UI has a tonne of bugs and lacks documentation or helper text throughout (way better than Rudderstack though), which leaves you needing to reach out to support often for workarounds or explanations that sometimes their team cannot even provide.

Segment's BigQuery integration is stuck in 2012, generating a different dataset for each source and a different table for each event, which completely ignores the unique aspect of BigQuery in being able to (and preferring you to) design datasets with JSON-like structures. Even Google Analytics is sending events to a single table, which almost makes it a superior solution for tracking events in combination with its data layer.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problem: Many different destinations with different named, defined, and described events.
Benefits: Rallying the team around a common data governance structure, which we had started anyways. Sometimes spending money can get people to rally around anything.

 ### 11. Game Changer for unified events across our tool stack as well as tool integration speed

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bernhard E. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

There is a series of key events that users take on our website and in our apps. It's just great that you define those events only once and can then push them to all your tool destinations. Our CRM is in sync with our ads accounts, with our marketing automation, with our analytics tools, etc.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

I was about to write that we're using Hubspot and that there is no Hubspot destination in Segment. When we initially connected Segment with Hubspot, we did it via Zapier, which felt like a bit of a crutch. But just checked now and saw it has been added. So that's again rather something I like ;-)

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

If you have multiple teams using different tools but want to work on a unified, secure, reliable set of data, Segment is the way to go.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1) All our key-events are unified across our entire tool stack
2) Previously, trying out new tools always required a bit of engineering work. The great thing about Segment is that once events are setup by the engineering team, pretty much anyone can connect tools that will receive all events immediately. Marketing could try out different tools for paid ads. Customer Service and Sales could try out different CRM tools, etc. All without having to involve Engineering.

 ### 12. Very intuitive and useful software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yaniv V. | Director, Quality & Processes, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

The software is very intuitive, works flawlessly, and is super easy to use. Setting new events for tracking data is also easy. It's also super quick - the gathered data appears in almost real-time.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

I can't extract the list of events in order to review them offline (in order to manage which to keep and which to disable).
When working in the "debugger" view, it's impossible to search using "OR" statements, which makes searches more tedious since you need to manually search more than once for different cases and compare the results "outside of the product" (copying data to a notepad for example).

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

Don't hesitate - it's a great product

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it mainly to learn about our users' engagement with our software.
Setting new events is easy and the software is very intuitive. The data is flowing in real time which makes debugging (using the collected data) super useful. Managing the events is also super intuitive (using the "schema" view) with quick abilities of disabling/enabling events on the fly, sorting by less used events (or last seen) and many more useful options.
The ability to have a "Testing" profile enables us to develop new events and test them against the current ones, before releasing them to our public platform.
Another advantage is the amount of services you can integrate this product to, having the data flow seamlessly and having "less technical" staff members use the products they are familiar with based on the data gathered by the segment product.

 ### 13. Very intuitive tool to help your company working on data governance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Its very easy to integrate with other tools. Tech profiles and data analysts' profiles can work with the tool to make the data governance process very smooth.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

It happened once Segment Engineering team updated their libraries without enough QA and it created a bug, and some data events did not arrive to the destinations.

There is only one tagging plan that applies both for apps and the web, and it would be helpful to have different ones.
There are some limitations depending on the implementation (cloud mode vs. client mode).

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thank you to Segment tool, we assure data quality and we are able to control that all the events generated accomplish with an established schema and quality. It also arises when there is an event violation. Also, we could delete several SDKs from the apps, leaving only Segment one.

 ### 14. Powerful, and necessary foundation to product data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zach S. | Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

The segment provides consistent service and is easy to implement with a moderate amount of planning from a team. They have productized a robust foundation for groups looking to set their teams and systems up for success.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

By utilizing Segment you inherently become entrenched in the product itself. Taking a step backward would be a bit of challenge after usage. Thankfully Segment has become a reliable and foundational part of our operations.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unified data, and establishing a framework with how we gather and classify data. We also utilize Segment to feed data to in-app messaging product Appcues and application analytics platform, Amplitude.

 ### 15. Simple to set up; great documentation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Program Development | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

1) Super simple to set up and then make the API calls.
2) Very impressed that they also have a Rust crate. Documentation for using it was great because of the sample code.
3) Debugger is very responsive to events.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

The documentation around the rust crate is a lot less comprehensive than the documentation for analytics.js. Wish there was more documentation.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly piping app events to Amplitude for data analysis.
Also realized we could use this for customer.io and sending transactional emails/ drip email campaigns.

 ### 16. Segment Is The Ultimate CRM Partner

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Segment has been the crux of our ability to track the actions of users on our site that enables paid advertising to have a full-funnel marketing approach. Being able to connect multiple digital platforms such as Facebook, Google, Snapchat, Tik Tok, Bing, and many others, has given us the ability to target (and suppress) individuals who have taken key actions on the platform for us to get them to convert.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

I can't think of anything I dislike about Segment.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1) Audience creation & deployment
2) Top to Bottom funnel marketing strategies
3) Tracking step by step actions across the site
4) Sending 1P data to multiple publishers and tools we use on a daily basis for tracking membership acquisition

 ### 17. Control your data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

The ability to manage all the data in one place, test connections with different destinations and collect website analytics without installing tens of plug-ins on the website.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

There isn't a whole lot I can say I dislike about Segment. Any product can improve but I don't think there is anything I dislike per se.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collecting product analytics and sending it to different tools. Segment enabled us to do it without installing code snippets from each tool directly on the website.

 ### 18. Connects all the data

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Segment allows us to connect all the things we need to connect.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

Nothing in particular - seems pretty straight forward, thankfully!

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Connecting data together. Helps us collect, clean, and then put into use our data, helping us be smarter / more effective.

 ### 19. Amazing tool for marketers and product teams alike!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Segmenr grants product and marketing teams greater autonomy to control the experiences they wish to create for users/customers. After our initial integration with Segment, our marketing team's productivity has increased drastically.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

Continued development for their B2B data structure (accounts) is needed. Would love to see these accounts build deeper integrations into major destinations (Iterable/Braze, etc).

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CRM database architecture: massive increase in efficiency and autonomy for marketing team
Real time events: increased conversion for triggering user experiences in near realtime.

 ### 20. A perfect CDP to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rushi D. | Software Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

The simple and intuitive UI, all the necessary features and a great Customer support.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

The documentation can be improved. It is a little bit inaccurate or outdated in some places.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using segment to collect, manipulate and send users data to different destinations for many IBM Offerings. Segment has been so effective and easy solution for us. It provides almost 0 delay event generation and stream. Our customer portfolio has been increased because of segment's capabilities.

 ### 21. Segment is the motor that powers the world!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

We can track user traits and behavior on our platform instantly, and we can integrate this data across a variety of cloud-based platforms! We pair this data with information collected from our user-created content database to create a visual landscape of how users are engaging with our platform.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

I would love to see Segment's testing tool capture more than just the last few minutes of activity --- it would be great to have a version of the tools that provides a searchable log so that we can review our metrics in more detail.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Segment to view events on our platform that we cannot otherwise view from our standard platform tools. We can combine information about our customers across multiple systems and learn more about their needs.

 ### 22. The standard in CDP

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** JB B. | Developer Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Segment's onboarding and documentation are really helpful. Really easy to get started with, and they've also put out a lot of in-depth guides on Analytics. The UI is slick.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

It can become expensive as you need business features or scale very fast. It takes some time for some Destinations to populate, and it can be quite hard to debug that.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Segment helps us unify tracking across a lot of different tools and enable marketing automation without having to rely on engineering to make changes to the product.

 ### 23. Best Customer Data Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rafael K. | CS Senior Technical Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Amazing and simple Dashboard, how easy is for non-tech users to start adding sources and destinations. Personalized and real-time customer experiences

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

To be honest, didn't find any points or services that I dislike in Segment, everything is working perfectly all time

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collecting all user data from all our websites and managing them with different trackers (pixels) in one amazing dashboard provided by Segment. It's a complete data toolkit for our team.

 ### 24. Segment is really useful tool and its connection with Amplitude is extraordinarily successful.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Glad to Segment, we can track our events' data in a way more efficient way than other tools, also its connection with Amplitude helps to prepare important analyses really easy.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

I find Segment useful in many ways, the only feature I would like it to be improved is the delay in event processing. If it was faster, we could get better quality service.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is much easier to transfer and manage event data with Segment. It's dashboards allow us to track live events and search for user-based events. Our performance is increased visibly.

 ### 25. Good CDP tool for companies

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Helps companies with complex set-ups to connect to different tools. In one single integration can manage many products (apps, webapps, scripts) with different tools (crm, tracking, cloud).

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

It's an expensive tool and over costs are pretty high. If you go above the MTUs allocated for the month, you can end up paying the same as the contract only in penalites.

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

Customer Support can take some time to respond. If you don't have a technical background, it might be difficult to go through the tool and get something out of it. Needs training.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have different products and apps depending on the country. The Tech Team cannot manage to make individual integration with marketing tools such as Braze, Appsflyer, Google Analytics, so we use Segment to integrate and control everything.

 ### 26. Everything you need from a central customer data hub (well almost)

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Getting data in, routed and out to destinations is super easy while giving the flexibility you need. Also the PID management is great.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

Full data reseidency in the EU should be a standard option across all plans. This can eventually be a dealbreaker.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Control over data collection and unification while changing tools. Also great to have a data pipeline for you dev environment.

 ### 27. Great Analytics Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

My favorite part about Segment is the level of trust I have in the product. They have an excellent engineering team, and their product just works. I've used many tools where there can be delays or missing data and it seems like you're constantly talking with support to resolve issues, but I don't think I have ever had to open a support ticket with Segment. You set it up, and it works great.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

The UI can be a little confusing/daunting for first-time users. I first started using Segment in ~2016, and I liked the older UI better. But they have added a lot of features over the years, so the UI probably had to adjust with it.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integrating new analytics tools and creating clickstream data pipelines with ease. Even something as simple as adding a new script tag to a page take days depending on how your company's internal processes work, but with Segment it's very easy to just click a button and turn on a new tool.

 ### 28. Seems good.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Segment is a very powerful platform, with core products and additional add-ons that extend that functionality. It seems well designed and engineered. We're getting more actionable customer data than ever before. Also, great tools for ensuring data hygene right at the point of entry into our stack.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

As with any integration, there are challenges that vary depending on your entire ecosystem. We are currently only leveraging a small portion of Segment's power because of other legacy systems. So think though your stack holisitically before counting on all the things Segment CAN provide. Not Segment's fault, per se, but an important caveat.

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

Think though what capabilities Segment will have in YOUR tech stack. There may be limiting factors beyond Segment.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed better visibility on customer interactions for both content development and growth marketing. Segment gives us that, and helps us ensure that new data from new sources is clean.

 ### 29. A way to connect everything!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

To access events and data from the majority of the services we use to receive reports, Segment offers native connectors. This includes payments, health metric instrumentation etc

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

Not as such but it sometimes can be cumbersome and difficult to integrate tools

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

robust and simple to use analytics collector tool

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking significant events, integrating with other platforms for product analytics, and providing raw events directly to our Datalake for data availability on looker and amplitude.

 ### 30. Segment allows us to easily manage where our data goes.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Segment allows to see all our connections sources and its respective destinations. It has a wide array of integrations that are incredibly easy to set up with a few steps. It also allows us to see exactly when a particular attribute or event last occurred. The team at Segment is also very friendly and helpful.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

The Personas feature is on another paid tier and does not allow for a free trial. It is also very expensive compared to industry standards. For companies with a huge amount of users, the payment structure could be better aligned to allow for testing or incremental use or have a pricing scheme based on the use of its features.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Segment connections feature allows us to skip the integration process with many of our customer support platforms and easily send user activity in real time. One use case is it allows us to instantly send tailored email campaigns to our users based on their current activity.

 ### 31. Great and easy to use CDP

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

How easy it is to navigate within the platform itself and to connect data between tools. The Personas feature is particularly useful and the capabilities keep expanding on a consistent basis.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

While it saves a lot of time to not integrate with all the tools because Segment does that, it is rather expensive. Support could be a bit more proactive to make sure the implementation is done correctly.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integrating with different marketing tools without having to worry about moving data and syncing it to all the martech stack tools we have.

 ### 32. Great way to deliver data where you need it

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marc S. | P, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Segment makes life easier by enabling a whole slew of workflows and integrations to work thanks to stable, intuitive data delivery.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

It can be a bit difficult to understand how to get started if you're not a technical person.

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

Read the documentation to ensure you're getting the most out of the product.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For one, we're delivering app usage data to several platforms to report on engagement stats, identifying power users, etc.

 ### 33. Best CDP in the business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Easy installation, wide integrations coverage, very developer friendly, excellent support, consistent new technology delivered, single platform for your event stream data

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

The personas feature is limited because of how many custom traits you can add... also it's too bad they don't give you multi-touch attribution out of the box and sync it to your CRM for you

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solving having a single way of defining events and making all the data flow properly for our key growth toolsets. We have saved 100s of engineering hours and were able to have a sophisticated martech stack quickly.

 ### 34. Reduce tracking events complexity

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

The Segment JavaScript SDK is easy to understand, the documentation is excellent, and destination middlewares are an amicable solution to abstract the complexity of having different tracking providers

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

The observability system. When there is a violation, if hard to find the reason, you can only see two events. I would like to have real-time charts to watch the events

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

It's a great product that makes tracking integration way easier. Give it a try

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralize our tracking system into a single solution. Before, we had to deal with different tracking providers with various APIs, and it was chaos. It's also great because you can control it from a single dashboard.

 ### 35. Debugging is fun with segment

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

You're able to walk through the debugger in real time to see segment events coming in. There are basic filters such as track, identify, group that you can search for. I think it is neat that Segment acts as a one-stop service. It receives events from multiple sources and also outputs events to many different destinations.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

I would appreciate it if there were more advanced filtering than just searching for strings. Also, sometimes, my server would send events to segment would sometimes I don't see them in the debugger if there were a large number of events bombarding segment. Finally, sometimes you don't see old events in segment. It is unclear what the lookback window is.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are tracking users who use our website. We have placed segment events in both our front end to ascertain certain metrics such as free to paid conversion rate and determine whether experimental features we roll out in our websites should be temporary or permanent features.

 ### 36. Great tool to distribute data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Segment offers a lot of integrations that make the distribution of analytics data a breeze.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

The price is a bit on the high side. We exceeded the 10,000 MTU (monthly tracked users) very quickly. The next tier is a custom one.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Segment to distribute data across platforms (Redshift and Google Analytics).

 ### 37. Simple yet powerful solution, even for non-technical marketers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

One of the things I like best us that segment is intuitive by design and very user-friendly. One of the best aspects is that you can quickly see which data sources are connected and no longer having to remember which sources are connected to which destinations (and how), but rather Segment shows in the overview the current connections, making them easy to audit.
The number of sources and destinations is also great, and this is expanded on by the segment team. So apart from the main ones (Google Analytics, Facebook, Google Tag Manager, etc.) there are other, lesser known integrations possible as well.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

One of the biggest strengths is also something that can cause dislike: because Segment is at the center of sources and destinations, you can quickly become dependent on it. As companies scale, it would become increasingly difficult to remove Segment.

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

It's worth checking out if it's right for you - keep in mind that the ease comes at a cost: once it's integrated, it'll be increasingly difficult to remove from your current setup. Additionally, as your organization scales, you will assumedly receive more traffic to your site, which means more events sent to the various destinations. As a result, pricing is going to increase over time as well.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In the past, all tools would need to be connected to one another directly. This works fine when it's only a couple of sources and destinations, but as complexity grows, so does the need to maintain the overview and adjust source/destinations. Segment makes it easy to maintain this overview, and to add new sources/destinations with just a few clicks, ensuring the data-flow between them.

 ### 38. Allows me to easily collect and connect my data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

We have several different sources of data as well as about a dozen destinations we need that data to flow. Segment allows me, without outside help, to connect things very quickly. Since we work with an outside agency to deploy much of our scripts and code on our website I was worried that as I started to build out our demand gen engine and bring new MarTech solutions onboard, I would have to have a ton of back and forth with our agency. But Segment has such a big catalog, most of the tech we deployed, I was able to do myself without much trouble at all. There were always plenty of support documents from Segment as well as from the other vendor on how to integrate with Segment.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

When I have run into a problem (not very often) trying to implement things, it was sometimes a challenge to work with support since I am not the one who implemented our instance and also I am not super code literate.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tring to connect multiple sources of data to other destinations so we could have all the data in the right places. One of the biggest benefits have been deploying other products onto our website without having to get in and code or work with our dev team.

 ### 39. Segment is a must-have to install new tools and connect all your tech stack together

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

The ability to one-click install new destinations and have all my data there.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

I've seen Segment get blocked by ad-blockers / cookie-blockers, that's the only downside I can think of.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having multiple tools and not having to go through a painless implementation process with each.

 ### 40. easy to set up, easy to update, easy to analyze

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

great api documentation for implmentation
easy to use platform
easily integrated with other apps like amplitude
great store of information for product insights

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

none that come to mind off the bat
the UI is great for debugging while implementing and general overview of events
would be cool to have stronger visual analytics within segment instead of integrating with another platform

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

product insight for what features get used how often
keeping analytics of user actions to be used for troubleshooting and investigating reported behavior
customer actions, seeing what individual customers are doing so implementation managers can advise with that insight

 ### 41. Essential tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Easy to use, computed traits, granular routing of data to the right place

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

Could be easier to find some of the functions (debugging, etc)

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to route the right data to the right tools in a super easy way.

 ### 42. Goes unnoticed, and that's a good thing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Super easy to push all of the data we need. We don't use Segment as much as we could from a track perspective, but Segment's ability to have multiple sources and destinations allows us to understand across multiple dimensions pretty easily

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

I think because we use Segment for API requests more than tracking, our pricing seems high for the amount of visitors we have on the site. We also paid for segment time to help go through this, but the complexity of delivering on what we need means that the tracking consistently gets pushed down as lower priority

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have many places where we track, generally disjointed systems, so we use segment to collect data from all of these places, then destinations like Heap allow for the analytics team members to be able to rapidly understand our users better.

 ### 43. One of the best CDPs I have worked with. Ideal for controlling and validating user behavior data.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

To control and validate user behavior data.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

It is not able to track the "page" as the "tracks". The Identify has not the possibility of versioning.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Validate the behavior data.
Have a single space to control which third parties the data is sent to.

 ### 44. Good CDP tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

It is extremely easy to integrate with. It also has a lot of outgoing integrations which makes the life of our engineers a whole lot easier. The user interface is also intuitive enough for product managers to use.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

Nothing so far really. It is easy to use and integrate with. No issues thus far.

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

I would recommend using Segment if you find yourself having to integrate with multiple tools for sending data. Use Segment and no more unnecessary clunky integrations.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were sending events to multiple platforms such as Amplitude, MoEngage and Hotjar. To reduce code and integrations, we decided to explore using a CDP so that the integrations will only need to be done once.

 ### 45. Fanatic intuitive product. Simple, efficient and fast

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pablo d. | Lead Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

If you're a developer you will love their integrations. APIs are so intuive and the SDKs are so smooth that integrating it to your solution is a breeze. Oh, and the debugging tools make your life easier than ever.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

Speeding up with the product and understanding its inner logic is easy, making sure your data is correctly streaming across all the platforms with the correct format and transformations can become a messa very quickly. Be sure to document well what you're doing so others don't get lost.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collecting data is not that much complex. Making sure it's hitting all the tools you need in the expected format in a good timely manner, well that's a challenge. This is the one Segment helped solving also. Data consistency, correct formats, scalability are the things accomplishable using the tool.

 ### 46. easy to use, great for frictionless marketing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

real data stream, event tester, easy configuration of new sources and destinations

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

A lot of PII coming in, it would be more helpful to understand why events fail or have issues. I noticed recently that we had 20k events fail last month in my monthly summary. It would have been great to get some automated messages there.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

start up mode = moving fast, all the time. Segment is easy to configure and let's us do all of our marketing analytics.

 ### 47. Makes it easy to see the full picture all in one place

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ian M. | Senior Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

It makes it incredibly easy to get all of your customer data in one place. Simple to configure and easy to debug.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

A few of the pages are totally unreliable given the scale we're using the product at (such as the destination filters).

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to power our product analytics, customer communications, and data warehouse problems.

 ### 48. What more could I ask for?

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Segment is the industry-leading CDP for a reason. It's incredible.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

The only major downside to using Segment is the cost. The more that we scale, the more it will cost. It essentially acts as a tax on all of our growth efforts unfortunately.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Segment effectively replaces some full-time headcount for us. Instead of building and maintaining our own analytics infrastructure and having to manually integrate with all of our other SaaS providers, Segment makes it all a piece of cake.

 ### 49. Segment allows us to enrich API data with our proprietary data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Derek P. | Business Intelligence Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Twilio Segment?**

Segment's best feature is the ability to use their events to catalog actions committed by users. In addition, Segment does a great job identifying users based on multiple attributes, showing the users' demographics.

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

Segment's ability to recognize the same or similar users based on attributes is still a work in progress. Therefore, their identity graph is still unreliable.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem our company was looking to solve is how to collect analytics from events. Segment has allowed us to accomplish this and see committed events live, allowing us to debug any issues.

 ### 50. Segment, a excelent tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel D. | Data Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2022

Possibility for all existing platforms.
Cloud data collection.
Customer segmentation.
Explanations and step by step of how each task is carried out

**What do you dislike about Twilio Segment?**

You do not have the possibility to choose the language of the website.
The limitation of having to choose an account type.
Some destinations are incompatible with some sources.

**Recommendations to others considering Twilio Segment:**

The connection mode is through the internet.
Connection mode and platforms may be incompatible with the destination.

**What problems is Twilio Segment solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Segment, a marketing tool that helps you centralize all data and analytics from any site or app, avoiding time-consuming integrations.
