## About RateServer
RateServer makes it easy to manage freight contracts and tariffs for rail, truckload, LTL, and marine. Its powerful rating engine accurately calculates freight costs at time of shipment for line haul, fuel, assessorial, switch, etc. and delivers freight cost to ERP. Supports all types of point-to-point mileage-based rates Handles complex assessorial, stop-off, and switch charges Accurately calculates fuel surcharges Accepts any scale including, per unit, excess, or quantity breaks Accurately calculates freight for all types of Rule 11 Offers what-if analysis for most cost-effective moves Gives insightful freight costs reporting and analysis Provides live integration with ERP systems for on-demand freight costs for quotes, freight-add invoicing, and carrier payment Imports and exports rates from spreadsheets

**What do you like best about RateServer?**

Depending on who you are talking to, they are willing to help with troubleshooting issues you are experiencing using the product. The day to day interaction is pretty good and they'll be responsive.

**What do you dislike about RateServer?**

RateServer does not customize to our business. Our business is unique but there have been multiple requests to make changes that would help our company in a meaningful way but they have been resistant to make those changes. Searching for origin cities are sometimes abbreviated to shorter words so when you search you are not able to find the origin you are looking for unless you remember the exact abbreviation. Car costs per ton are not available to be added to the rate in RateServer so we have to build our own application to display a rate for our sales team. Uploading contracts/tariffs to the system can sometimes be very cumbersome and precise. Competitors upload tariffs automatically since they are public or they upload the contract documents on your behalf. Reporting is not very good at all; if you find the correct report, the document you export from RateServer will lake headers describing what each column is. No proactive dashboards for mapping rates/routes are available so we have to create our own using Tableau. In general, the application looks like it is from the 90s and is not very intuitive for new users.

**Recommendations to others considering RateServer:**

Think through everything you need and want from a rate housing application and ask them if they can do those things. Imagine an ideal world for how you would like see and use rates and perform analysis on them. Then ask RateServer if they can provide that for you. If they can, you should consider them, if not, look elsewhere.

**What problems is RateServer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rating shipments and housing all of our rail rates (which is a lot) as we ship across all of North America. It accomplishes the base level of functionality but is not very user-friendly.
