People truly underestimate how stellar Proton is. Everything works together. I've never, I mean NEVER experienced a bug. It is simple, no frills, but has details and extra settings if you want to get into the weeds. I think the video conferencing is one of the smoothest out there. I've used many and so many of them require you to have an account, have clunky interface, lags, or are unintuitive. My mom and I meet weekly for a virtual yoga session and she refuses to use Google Meet anymore because seh could never make it work. Proton Meet she was able to use with no issues at 63. What I like most about Proton Workspace is how easy it is to centralize all the company's files and documents in one secure place. This significantly improves organization, teamwork, and quick access to information from any device. Additionally, it gives me a lot of confidence due to its focus on privacy and data security.

The interface is clean, modern, and quite intuitive, even for people without much technical knowledge. Everything is well-structured, which helps to quickly find files and tools. An amazing replacement for Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, with better privacy and easier GDPR compliance. I love that everything needed to get work done is all in one place and is easy to use and integrate in to current workflows. What I like best about Proton Workspace is that it lets me keep my day-to-day work inside one secure ecosystem instead of scattering everything across unrelated services. I can handle email through Proton Mail, store and organize files in Proton Drive, and manage account logins with Proton Pass without constantly switching between platforms that all have different privacy policies and account systems.

For my workflow, that matters because a lot of my work involves communication, documents, client files, and account access. Proton Workspace gives me a cleaner way to keep those pieces connected while still feeling like I have more control over my data. The main thing I dislike is that Proton Workspace still does not feel quite as frictionless as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 in every area, especially when it comes to collaboration and people who are not already familiar with Proton. If I need to share something with someone who lives entirely in Gmail, Google Drive, or Microsoft Office, the workflow can sometimes feel a little less automatic. I absolute love how much is available without the overhead of a business incentive to profit off of my "free" usage of their service. It's always been clear that anything that is free always has a catch. So, being able to bundle all my essentials into one purchase with Proton is a huge plus because I get to pay for the value I receive in the way that makes sense to me. I think the only aspect that seems odd to me is that Proton Drive doesn't seem to allow sharing folders within the app. Instead, it seems like I always need to use the desktop app to select which folders are in my Drive, but the browser to be able to access the features for sharing. Really glad to see Proton moving in this direction and offering a fuller suite of products. One of the biggest challenges, I guess, to broader adoption of security and privacy across all products is that there are limited offerings and not enough integration with other tools. Seeing Proton offer more tools—especially Proton Meet—is great, and it allows us to really move toward using Proton for everything. While the core office productivity tools are growing, the collaboration features still feel a bit basic compared to older, mainstream office suites. Real-time multi-user document collaboration can sometimes feel rigid, and the advanced formatting options in the document editors are somewhat limited. The feature set is pretty bare bones. It does what it does well, but it is lacking in some features. For example, Proton Docs can only export to PDF by using the print to PDF function. This work fine, but coupled with the fact that the interface cannot be changed to display pages instead of a continuous text zone makes formatting complicated. This also applies to printing.

While Proton Docs supports Markdown shortcuts when writing, it is not an actual Markdown editor, so files need to be converted to docx. Speaking of which, docx, xlsx, etc, are the only file formats supported by the editors. This makes compatibility with open source office suits not as easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I’ve enjoyed switching my workflow over and now feel more confident and secure about how my data is being handled. I’ve also appreciated the work suite adding new features like Proton Meet and a calendar scheduling feature. Having been a Proton user for a while, I can tell the products are being innovated on consistently and that the overall user experience keeps improving. As a workspace user, I prefer having all my needs handled within a single workflow. For example, there still isn’t a strong alternative to Google Slides within the Proton Suite. Also, Proton Docs can be a bit harder to collaborate in, since many people I work with don’t have Proton accounts set up.
