## About Prism
Prism is a digital portfolio platform designed for self-directed learning environments including microschools, homeschools, and unschooling families. The platform enables educators and parents to document authentic learning moments through photos and contextual notes, creating comprehensive portfolios that track each learner's development over time. Core functionality includes portfolio creation and management, learning community organization (called "Pods"), and media management for educational documentation. Prism uses AI to analyze portfolio entries and identify learning signals across subject areas, skills, competencies, and interests, helping educators and parents understand and communicate the educational value of emergent, interest-driven learning. The platform is built on a parent-ownership model where parents create and maintain learner accounts and portfolios, allowing families to retain complete learning documentation when transitioning between educational settings. Educators can document learning for any learner in their Pod, while parents can only post to their own children's portfolios. **What do you like best about Prism?**

Prism is simple and user-friendly so it was simple to implement. My facilitators were already capturing learning moments with photos but we had no system for storing or sharing them. Now, with just 10 or so minutes after school, we all upload, tag, and caption our photos. Our phones are cleared out and parents get regular updates about their kids' weekly projects. Also, it will make it easy to generate reports to help transition kids as they age out or move from our program.

**What do you dislike about Prism?**

Prism is still in development so it sometimes has error messages, but they are rare and usually resolved with just a quick redo.

**What problems is Prism solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Documentation of self-directed learning paths for students. It also has helped me advertise to families because the newsfeed shows all the awesome things happening at our school, and parents are sharing it with friends or deciding to enroll their other kids.
