After evaluating Jamf Pro and other MDM options, we ultimately chose Jamf School for its intuitive interface, education-focused design, and quick deployment. It allowed us to get our Apple ecosystem up and running fast — without the heavy overhead of more complex enterprise tools. We manage MacBooks, iPads, Apple TVs, and iPhones from one unified platform. Integration with Apple School Manager was seamless, and connecting Jamf Connect, Protect, and Safe Internet was straightforward. Each of these tools extends Jamf School in practical, powerful ways — from identity management and cybersecurity to safer online learning environments. Some of our teachers find the Jamf Teacher app very useful. It gives them easy control to distribute apps, manage classes, and apply restrictions without needing IT’s help. That balance between teacher autonomy and centralized management has been a huge win. Jamf’s continued innovation is also worth noting. The addition of Blueprints and Prestaging components has simplified provisioning and updates tremendously. We’ve also appreciated the improvements in device visibility, automation options, and alignment with new Apple platform changes each school year. Their team clearly cares about improving the experience for schools and students alike. **What do you dislike about Jamf School?** Jamf School doesn’t include every advanced workflow or automation available in Jamf Pro — but that’s largely intentional, as it’s designed for simplicity in education environments. That said, a few features do roll out more slowly to School, especially when Jamf may announce new platform enhancements like their AI integration.. **What problems is Jamf School solving and how is that benefiting you?** Jamf School has centralized our entire Apple ecosystem—MacBooks, iPads, iPhones, and Apple TVs—under one intuitive platform. It eliminates the manual setup and app deployment headaches that used to take hours, replacing them with automated provisioning, Blueprints, and class-based management. Teachers can now manage their own classrooms through the Jamf Teacher and Apple Classroom apps, giving them independence while maintaining IT oversight. Integration with Apple School Manager and Microsoft Entra ID and OneRoster Sync has streamlined user management and device assignments, saving our team significant time for device provisioning. As a K–8 school with a mix of shared and 1:1 iPads, we needed something that could handle deployments, app management, restrictions, and updates—without eating up our entire day. What I appreciate most about Jamf School is how intuitive it is. The interface is clean, and even our non-technical staff can pick up the basics quickly. Whether it’s pushing apps, configuring Wi-Fi settings, or setting restrictions for younger grades, it’s all point-and-click and doesn’t require scripting or a steep learning curve. The classroom tools have been a great bonus. Teachers can see what students are doing on their iPads, lock them into a specific app, or send a message—without having to call IT every time there’s an issue. It’s given teachers a sense of control, and it's made classroom iPad use more effective and less distracting. We also like how Jamf School separates students, staff, and devices into smart groups. Before Jamf, setting up devices, installing apps, or making changes meant touching every iPad manually or relying on clunky solutions. Now, we can handle everything from a central dashboard. Whether it’s deploying new apps, setting restrictions for younger grades, or wiping and reassigning a device, Jamf makes it quick and consistent. I can use device groups and profiles to have a set it and move on to other things attitude at work. The customer service that you recieve is by far top notch as well. They actually do take the time to help you get to the root of the problem, and want you to be successful at your job. **What do you dislike about Jamf School?** I wish that Jamf School had a built in remote control option that we use like they have in Jamf Pro. If I had this option the team of 5 of us for a 37 building district would be able to be more efficient on a daily basis. Sometimes just being able to get the issue resolved quicker for the end user can make or break the day! **What problems is Jamf School solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have had a lot of trouble creating in-house applications and having customer service work with me on learning Composer has really helped! Has the ability to manage multiple sites under one customer which is excellent for school trusts or bigger businesses. **What do you dislike about Jamf School?** The multi-site/customer management option is a little confusing initially to use as it's not just one big shared tenant but rather a single login, and you have to switch between the customers/sites. No free offering like other MDMs, however all usual premium features are included at a fair price per device. **What problems is Jamf School solving and how is that benefiting you?** Simple and efficient management of the mass deployment of iPads. As well as this it includes simple tracking of the devices (both location and user), deployment of apps, policies, restrictions etc too. ### 12. The functionality of the management options is well rounded. For a non-traditional IT person, it is easy to work with. **What do you dislike about Jamf School?** Jamf School seems to be the "little brother" to Jamf Pro and the support documentation isn't what it could be in comparison. Many Jamf School users are former teachers, so having more detailed training information and videos specifically for Jamf School would be helpful. **What problems is Jamf School solving and how is that benefiting you?** The ability to control the iPads in our school environment is key to the educational opportunities we are attempting to provide. Allowing our administrators to adjust what can and can't be accessed per location helps us minimize the distractions students might be trying to find. ### 13. Deploying profiles, and adding or removing of applications by dragging an icon onto the iPads screen, just makes life so much easier, visually intuitive and very helpful when troubleshooting. We have been using this product now across our Trust schools (over 2400 devices) for about 3 years, it just makes the management and deployment process a lot less stressful. **What do you dislike about Jamf School?** Nothing really, we used to use Jamf Pro prior but as a Trust school which just uses iPads, we found we were not using the product's vast features so we switched to Jamf School. **Recommendations to others considering Jamf School:** For schools/ education sector looking for an easy to set up out of the box product for deploying and managing iPads, you don't need to look any further, we have tried Meraki, and Jamf Pro but have found Jamf School to be perfect for all of our needs relating to the management/deployment and the end-user experience. **What problems is Jamf School solving and how is that benefiting you?** Setting up devices and deploying profiles is seamless and when we are dealing with over 2400 devices and various age groups, this makes a massive difference with the burden of the workload and timescales. ### 14. Even a non IT-Pro can push Apps and iOS Updates to a very high number of devices. Sure for small Schools a great product. **What do you dislike about Jamf School?** I miss some features from jamf pro and vice versa. Lack of "really" macOS supporting as jamf pro does made us change to jamf pro for some smaller institutions. **Recommendations to others considering Jamf School:** Jamf School is a very good product (MDM Solution) but for IT-Pro's i'd recommend jamf-pro **What problems is Jamf School solving and how is that benefiting you?** Automatic App deployment and Config Profile pushing as a good mdm solution. Even though I don't have a technology background, (my roots are in education and languages) it was fairly straightforward to figure out where to find things and how to adjust the settings in a way that made sense for us. Their customer service is also fantastic! I have spent more than my fair share on the phone with them and they were always very patient and helpful in finding solutions. **What do you dislike about Jamf School?** For me, there are too many choices for settings. While I'm sure this is an asset for many, having so many customization options can sometimes be overwhelming and confusing when you don't have a solid understanding of the ins and outs of the processes. **Recommendations to others considering Jamf School:** I think that speaking with Jamf is the best route to go if you're considering using Jamf School. We had initially looked into Jamf Pro because of the unique setup we have, but after speaking with someone, they helped us to settle on Jamf School, which is a much better choice for us. They were also excellent in helping us to take the first steps and to gain an understanding of how to best use the product for our circumstances. **What problems is Jamf School solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are a grant-funded program existing within an institution of higher learning. So while we have access to an IT Department, it is not always practical for them to handle the devices that we keep for student use outside of the office. Jamf has given us the ability to manage our own devices (about 100 iPads) and to actively provide the services our students need without having to funnel those through our university's IT dept or getting caught in any backlog they may have. ### 21. Staff have been able to leverage the amazing classroom management tools and IT has been able to streamline many of our support practices saving time and money. IT saves time because the solution is cloud-hosted. No more coordinating downtime for updates and such. **What do you dislike about Jamf School?** Jamf School is sold as a product that supports iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, however, many times the macOS side falls short of expectations. I also wish the Diamond Assets components, implemented into Jamf Pro in 2019, were integrated into Jamf School. I am mentioning this since school districts manage huge fleets of hardware with limited personnel. If we had some of that extended asset management information, we would save time when asking for equipment replacements. I have ways of accomplishing this task now, but it requires a lot of additional effort. **What problems is Jamf School solving and how is that benefiting you?** One that comes to mind is the distribution of apps. My District prefers in offering hundreds of apps to staff and students. Due to the way Jamf School allows administrators to target app installs for staff, we can make sure that only certain staff can deploy certain apps to students. The fact that Jamf School runs on my iPhone, iPad, or Mac, as the primary system administrator for Jamf School I can resolve problems anywhere at any time. ### 23.
