I used the online shop interface for a setting up online presence of a steel pipe manufacturing business and Pimcore was an adequate choice, I must say.

It has almost all the aspects integrated into it like system finders and advance search tool to help customers narrow down their search etc. But what I found different was the multi-cart system. I didn't see this function in any other online interface provider and it was particularly suited for our industry. Being in Steel Pipe manufacturing and selling business we had a consumer base in several countries and customers would want different products such as A53 pipe , OCTG products or A500 tubing. All products have different duties and import criteria so multi-cart system really helped us and our customers to maintain separate records for their transactions. While checkout process was smooth for most customers but data collection workflow after order placement could be a little bit better.

Also they could work a little more on customization. It's a great tool and I could set up the outlook as I wanted but I felt we could do with a little more freedom and options to change the look and feel of the shop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

From my experience I will say that the most common objectives for the PIM solutions are:

- Risk reduction due to incorrect or incoherent data in all publishing channels.

- Control and monitoring for the process including cost and Time reduction during product data enrichment.

Coherent data needs complete model and Pimcore we can do that using a class definition - a graphical user interface (GUI). It helps to define objects for products, categories, manufacturers, vendors as a structured data. Then objects can be connected each other. Furthermore, that there is no need to have programming skills, so it can be done by the employees of the company.

For controlling the whole process it has to be implemented in the system, so everyone involved should work in the same place. Because most of the processes based on the flow, there is an option to map them on list of states and actions in Pimcore workflow. It can be applied for any of the defined objects like product, company, etc. and also for the images, documents (eg. certificate). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As Pimcore is more framework, it's documentation is more focused on developers than Business user. Fortunatelly it's changed lately, so more and more system areas are covered by documentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
