## Pantheon Reviews
  ### 1. Great customer service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

I am not sure about what makes Pantheon great because I am not a developer, but I had a very frustrating experience launching a site and the Pantheon team was there with me every step of the way. I asked for step by step instructions and they patiently gave those to me. When one person wasn't sure, others on the team would jump in to offer additional solutions. It was a journey, for sure, but the support team got us to the finish line. I also like that they started using visuals to help me navigate the site - I really appreciated this.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The way their chat is run is a little slow, but when I really needed help, the support staff stayed with me.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am getting the support I need to run my site when my developer is not available.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hey there, thank you so much for the review. We also appreciate the feedback on our support chat.

  ### 2. Best platform for open source solutions

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

As per the enhancement the software can be customized and provide multiple platforms as per the user needs. This is the best part of this tool.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The user interface can be more interactive and enhance so that it become more user friendly.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deploying websites for the business user and enhance the website as per the business need.

  ### 3. Git + Backup + Workflow

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nate F. | Team Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Development Workflow of dev > test > live

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

At present, I don't see anything that should be disliked

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One Place for Code,, whether it's a UI developer or Wp developer

  ### 4. Pantheon allows us to focus on the things we are good at.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon W. | Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon allows us to quickly and easily set up a new project. Our team can then get right into the actual project without sinking many resources into just getting the infrastructure working. The multi-dev functionality allows us to test multiple different types of functionality on other branches.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The pricing makes Pantheon unsuitable for smaller projects.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

The best solution we have found for Drupal hosting.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using Pantheon allows us to put fewer resources towards systems administration, freeing those resources up for our core competencies.

  ### 5. A mediocre service

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

It was easy to get your site up but it was tough to even do the most basic updates. Their dev and live versions are also a bit complex

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Painfully slow, bad customer service and the support takes forever to really be useful to someone who needs a quick fix. I would recommend godaddy or even squarespace if you're a small business who is not very tech savy.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

I would look a look at SquareSpace if you're a small business and want to set up a beautiful website with great documentation. If you're more tech savvy and are okay with doing all support work yourself, sure use pantheon

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted a place to host our website for a short term period where analytics could be seen and clean content could be posted. We stayed with them for 3 years and definitely have had many security issues with them. Benefits is that it has pretty good documentation and you can edit your website pretty quickly

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello, I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience. We appreciate the honesty of your review and can assure you we are working hard on meeting all of our customers' expectations.

Pantheon helps us stay online in a more consistent manner.

  ### 7. Every WordPress site developer should use Pantheon to ensure the sites run properly

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shiman R. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Automatic backup in the Pantheon is a reassurance and savior for us. It’s smart and agile WebOps platform, I like that all the WordPress websites and projects of our team can be viewed, changed and managed in one place. The speed of creation and changes in sites is very high due to being server-less. It has superb automated system and great Git-based workflows which has made our teamwork enjoyable. The speed of teamwork has become many times faster.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

So far, everything is working fine on the Pantheon platform and the team has good support and great chat support just please increase the features of the Basic version so that startups can take advantage of more features at a reasonable cost.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

I recommend if you are a WordPress website developer to develop your project without stress and if you do not want to worry about risky changes in plugins and WordPress theme, use Pantheon so that your focus is only on work!

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has helped me and my team a lot in designing and developing sites. When I want to test a new code, I test it directly on the main project in sandbox mode and I know that I have a backup copy and on the other hand the main site is high and there is no problem if the code has an error or interferes with other plugins. With the Pantheon platform, I experience a stress-free work environment and development. My creativity has increased because I know that the main site will not be damaged in the event of an error and it is always up and running after repeated tests.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello Shiman, thank you for recommending Pantheon. We really appreciate the feedback.

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The progress, maintenance, and development of all projects can be viewed with one click through the dashboard. Managing and launching WordPress and Drupal websites for customers according to different requests is possible through the simple and easy Pantheon platform. WordPress and WooCommerce management, deployment, operation, maintenance, tuning, and repair of WP plugins is now easier and our developer's team time is better saved.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The ability to disable the cache and reset the cache automatically should be added to it so that when working on WordPress themes and plugins, you can easily see the changes and see them live.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

It offers you all the features that a WebOPS can have and its scope of work is wide, especially if you submit your website projects with WordPress or Drupal, it will be very useful for you.

Excellent option if you are hosting a Wordpress site. Very easy to get up and going, very easy to maintain going forward.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

We’ve been working with pantheon since 2018. There are two things I value most. First, scaleability. We have some seasonality in out business and the platform scales without added cost or complexity. Second, managed updates. It’s a new service that’s inexpensive and helps our technology team focus on features rather that infrastructure maintenance.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

So far I haven’t found anything to be unhappy with.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

If you’re managing Wordpress or druoal websites, Pantheon should be at the top of your partner list.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Uptime and availability were our initial problems to solve. Since engaging with Pantheon we have had few issues and those that have occurred were proactively solved often before were aware of them.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello, Larry. Working with you is one of the best decisions we've ever made too! Thank you so much for the positive review. I'm glad to hear that our platform is meeting and exceeding your expectations.

  ### 15. Reliable Hosting Provider and Great Customer Service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Commercial Real Estate | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The user-friendly interface and customer service willing to help make sure that they were able to help with everything we need. It also never had any glitches and was always secure and running. The ease of switching from development mode to live allowed us to fully review the website before making it live for our customers.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The cost was costly compared to other hosting sites. We switched several of our websites to different hosts because it was better suited to the budget. Their analytics also did not align with what we had regarding users, which increased us to the next tier. When we asked for them to prove their responses, they were unable to give us an accurate representation of our site traffic on a daily basis.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

If you're considering Pantheon - ensure that you have a great reporting system set up to track your users. That allows you to have a better overview of your monthly costs with Pantheon.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They helped us keep our website active and secure. Our website is the primary source of how we can close leads and showcase our properties, so it was essential to be with a company as reliable as Pantheon.

  ### 16. Speed and efficiency

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan V. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

What defines Pantheon other than the intelligently designed DevOps setup is speed and efficiency. The speed of deployment, setup and the development workflow as well as content delivery on the front end.
I have been recommending Pantheon to my clients for years, not just because of the great workflow, performance benefits and great support but mostly because it makes developing so streamlined, from the effortless multi-dev environments to game changing tools like Terminus.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The only downside I find is there is a lack of an entry level option lower in price and performance than the "Basic" offering. I find some clients would prefer something like that for very small websites or blogs.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since we started using Pantheon in 2014, our workflow has seen a massive efficiency improvement. We spend not time on system administration anymore and all of our time on developing. The multi dev staging workflow in particular has enabled us to develop fast and efficient in conjunction with our clients. Tools like Terminus make it very easy to perform admin tasks.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hey there Dan, thank you so much for the feedback! We're glad to hear that you and your clients find value in Pantheon's workflow and performance. We also appreciate your feedback on the product pricing and are continuously working to improve the experience for all of our customers.

  ### 20. Love Pantheon

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle D. | Web developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Ease of using the dashboard and localdev app. Makes developing and pushing changes so easy.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Losing some of the manual control fo a site. In some ways, this can still be a good thing!

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

In terms of Drupal, you will still need to know a good amount on how everything works. But Pantheon makes things so much easier on you. Managing the workflow without Pantheon will require lots of time and skill to master. Love their service!

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps small dev team manage Drupal easier. Making it all ourselves was going to be very difficult and take lots of time.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hi there, Kyle. Thank you so much for the 5 stars review! We are happy to hear that Pantheon truly makes managing Drupal websites easier for you and your team.

  ### 21. Very responsive customer service!

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

We moved to pantheon about two years ago, searching for a Drupal host with a better and more responsive support team, and we found it with Pantheon.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The dashboard where you manage the sites and the multi-dev environments can be a bit slow at times.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

If you are migrating a portfolio of Drupal/Wordpress sites from one host to another, I would recommend using the in-house Pantheon migration team. We migrated 50+ sites over to Pantheon, and the process was very painless.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted more confidence when standing up sites that if there were an infrastructure issue, it would be resolved quickly or at the very least a more responsive/transparent customer support team.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The dev/test/live environments and hosting interface are easy to use, even for non-technical users

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Code commits can be a little clunky in terms of needing to page refresh, but these minor bugs seem to be in the process of being addressed.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a small agency, Panthoeon was our first step toward professional-grade hosting for Wordpress. Having a dedicated development and test environment for each of our client sites was not only useful for workflows and testing, but also an important boost for our client perception and legitimacy. Additionally, the built-in CDN and other performance aspects boosted our page speed scores significantly.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The release workflow is really clean with pantheon. Being able to release the development code to staging while pulling the live database and files to staging in one step that triggers instantly is really smooth. It is a no-hassle way to do a real test release of the website updates. This setup is default to pantheon.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

**Reviewed by:** Sorin L. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

The positive aspects of Pantheon are the bitbucket pipeline integrations, the multi-dev environments. The pipelines make it so easy to deploy to any of our environments. Multi-dev helps us test developer branches. The documentation is helpful.

**Reviewed by:** Dr. Simon M. | Fopunder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The speed is almost always excellent. The support is second to none.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Some of my development team need to do customization that is beyond what Pantheon allows for Wordpress but that is rare.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Uptime, stupendous support, workflow (although it took me a minute to get with it), client hand-off for ownership.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Thank you for the kind words, Dr. Simon!

  ### 30. An amazing and good service that is worth it.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric K. | Chief Operating Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

This tool is really excellent, I like it for many reasons, for example its DeOps configuration is efficient, the Git repositories, and above all because it was easy to configure and launch, it is a very good and optimized platform that is really worth it.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The only thing I don't like about this tool is its documentation function, I really think it is not well done and deserves to be improved.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Its price is reasonable its functions are good, so I recommend it.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps a lot, especially in site management and performance improvement, it is perfect for the workflow that shows us what you have done. Honestly, this tool is rewarding and offers good benefits.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hey there, Eric. Thank you for the feedback on the documentation function. We're glad to hear that Pantheon makes site management easier for you and that you're enjoying the performance improvements that come with it.

  ### 31. Everything for anyone who has a dev team with multiple workstreams

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Love the fixed flow process has been one of the favorite things for us to handle multiple features.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The transparency in billing has been an ongoing pain point for our clients, and Pantheon support just sending links to articles rather than providing better guidance

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest issue it solves is building multiple features at once and ensuring that we know what is being done in which branch. It makes reviewing features straightforward and preventing mistakes.

  ### 32. A beautiful balance of client and developer support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allison M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon does an excellent job of balancing ease of use for site owners with powerful development tools that make it an agency favorite for both our Drupal and WordPress teams. They provide an easy to use development-staging-production WebOps workflow that makes it simple to avoid nasty surprises on a production site, and it’s free to get started building a “sandbox” of your online experience. Scheduled backups, Varnish caching, a global CDN, SSL certificates, and strong server security are all rolled into even their most basic plan, giving you a fast and secure site at a competitive price point.

One of the unique standout features of Pantheon from an agency perspective is their “multidev” capability, which allows us to create feature-based testing environments without touching the main development site. This makes it much easier for client teams and stakeholders to take their time reviewing proposed changes to the site, without interrupting or complicating ongoing maintenance and real-time deployment.

Pantheon is also intentional about giving back to both the Drupal and WordPress communities to provide training, tools, conference and meetup sponsorship, and support to various open-source projects, which is laudable and worth rewarding.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

A downside of strong server security and caching configuration is that your access to the servers at Pantheon is extremely limited. They have a custom command line tool you can use; and if that tool doesn’t do what you want to do, then you don’t have many other options (unless you’re working with a team who knows Pantheon inside and out). If your organization requires specific security audits, penetration testing, or other server review processes, they can be challenging to conduct thoroughly in Pantheon’s environment. We’ve also found that layering additional “best practices” caching and security tools, especially for WordPress, can have unpredictable and opaque results.

Pantheon’s pricing is competitive, but large spikes in your traffic can cause costs to skyrocket quickly. Their base plan may be a financial stretch for small, lean organizations or personal sites.

Finally, be aware that if you’re running a “multisite” network of sites from a single instance of Drupal or WordPress, Pantheon does not support this architectural model. They offer alternative approaches, but this can be a dealbreaker if you simply want to migrate what you already have.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pantheon is an excellent fit for our clients with a high volume of feature development work, because the built-in feature-based environments make it more streamlined to review and deploy independently. We have also had marked success using their custom upstream feature to facilitate organizations that want to create a “starter kit” for new sites while retaining control of a central code base. By using custom upstreams, any entity associated with the client can use their custom setup and receive updates, while still running an entirely standalone site that can be customized to their individual needs.

The primary benefit we get from working with Pantheon on a daily basis is the efficiency we derive from their robust developer tools. Their code and database workflow coupled with the ease of integrating their command line tools into our CI/CD workflow means we can automate and streamline in a way that aligns with what we view as industry best practices.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hey there Allison, thanks for the positive review. Glad to hear Pantheon is an agency favorite for your Drupal and WordPress teams. We also appreciate the honest feedback. Our teams use it to continuously improve our customers' experience.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The subscription costs more as pageviews increase.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Be sure to sign up through an agency for better pricing

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Great flexibility for when development projects stop and start again. Really easy for collaborators and developers in different locations to get access on a short- or long-term basis.

  ### 35. Great for multiple site management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ralph M. | Web Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon's dashboard make it really easy to manage multiple sites and spin up new sites.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

It would be nice if they supported hosting sites outside of Drupal and Wordpress.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

I would highly recommend Pantheon to anyone managing multiple sites in either Drupal or Wordpress.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It really easy to spin up new sites assign developers to specific sites and roll out patches or updates. I really appreciate the Multidev environment which has helped boost productivity.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Thank you for your review, Ralph. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible to manage and deploy websites so we love hearing that we are helping you do just that. Cheers!

  ### 36. One of the Best Options for Drupal Hosting, but Has Some Growing Up to Do

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Guy E. | Chief Technology Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2016

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon's automation is the best. Pantheon's dashboards and the isolation between dev, test, and production environments let us stage changes for public, client review. Then, once the client approves the changes, it's only one click to deploy. It's also one-click for most Drupal core upgrades.

Pantheon is also high performance -- they somehow handle varnish caching automatically without getting in my way.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Pantheon has had some high-profile outages and data loss lately. Adding insult to injury, their response to these outages has not been handled well. As a long-time customer of Pantheon, during these outages I didn't feel like Pantheon really cared what impact the outage had on my business. They also made several promises to follow-up and keep us informed that they didn't follow through on.

Separately, we are finding it difficult to integrate Pantheon into a larger multi-cloud, micro-services architecture. We wish there was an easier way for sites hosted on Pantheon to communicate with our private clouds without going over the public internet.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Try them out for free; launch a heavy installation profile like Open Atrium, and see how it performs. Have your team try out the deployment workflow and see if it's a natural fit for your process.

If you build sites for clients, sign-up to be a reseller so you can host more sites for free than the basic free level.

Be sure to keep back-ups of your data off of Pantheon, just in case they experience data loss. If you host business-critical applications on Pantheon, implement a business continuity plan in place that enables you to spin up those applications/sites on another provider in under a few hours, in case Pantheon has future high-profile outages.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pantheon's process fits right into our existing installation-profile-based continuous integration process. We build large, business-logic-heavy Drupal sites, and the the Pantheon hosting system is the first system we've used that fully supports our version-control-driven deployment process. Internally, we use a continuous integration server that uses Drupal Installation Profiles, Drush, GIT, and Aegir to build an entire site from scratch and then deploy it. Pantheon's GIT-based deployments fit perfectly with this approach.

The automatic backups also allow us to slide back to previous releases of sites, if things go badly.

  ### 37. Efficient content management and easy interface to understand.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bruno M. | Senior Media Strategist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon commands are very intuitive and responsive for great management of workflow, content searching and to customize the tool templates is simple.
The collaboration for the tea via Pantheon is amazing as well as the ability on version control and the portfolio management.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

No issues to say, easy software and the interface its very straightforward for any user to learn and get to work with the tool.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

The Pantheon capabilities can be absolutely effective to the business, like easy for workflow management and working together as a team via the tool.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Team easy collaboration, content searching and many more things which Pantheon can do to the users.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello Bruno, thank you for the positive review! It's great to see that you're finding great value in managing content using Pantheon.

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Uptime seems to be really good, not many outages.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Customer service is not the easiest to get ahold of. When you click to chat it takes longer that other chat support services to get a response.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pantheon is our web host for our corporate wordpress site, so we rely heavily on pantheon to keep our site up and running as well as protected.

  ### 39. Great Support all the time

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

N/A

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of use when deploying and managing their codebase.

  ### 40. Great hosting provides for the WordPress and Drupal websites

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sharath S. | DevOps, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

All the services which are provided by the Pantheon

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

As of now I never felt dislike with any services provided by the Pantheon.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Pantheon is the best hosting for Drupal and WordPress websites, Anyone can blindly opt for the Pantheon

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to get proper domains and with proper SSL's.

The filesystem is really good and they are providing different environments to work on the development tasks.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Thank you for the positive review, Sharath!

  ### 41. A high end product for agencies that demand the best

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ian W. | Creative Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2020

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon knows what they're best at, and focuses on just doing that. By focusing on WordPress and Drupal as their only supported platform, support staff is able to offer support for software as well as the hosting environment.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

There are a lot of limitations or specific requirements for using the Pantheon platform. If you follow coding best practices you should be in good shape, however all of the optimizations they do for site performance as well as the CDN require some changes to your workflow. For example one can only write to the server on the Dev environment, Test and Live are locked down.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pantheon allows us to give our clients the best possible hosting environment. One of the interesting things we realized recently is that on a VPS or other hosting environment you tend to upgrade resources because your site goes down or otherwise has performance suffer. On Pantheon, you performance never suffers, you just pay for more bandwidth.

**Official Response from Adam Arthur:**

> Ian, thank you for the insightful review. We're glad to hear that Pantheon has proven valuable to you and appreciate the feedback on things that could be improved.

  ### 42. Pantheon is a good tool for Drupal Development

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yerminson G. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

I like the way the backups for code and database are managed those are very helpful to keep the site integrity over time.

It is very easy to manage the content between environments some times you did an incorrect update in the database and it is necessary to start over with the deploy so in those cases those tools for restoring previous backups are very helpful.

The security option to avoid the site being 100% public is very helpful during development phases.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

By default, you are only able to use master branch so initially in the first level without the multisite option working only in the master branch makes it difficult to test different functionalities that can be added to a different branch and deployed to the site.

Some times when you are working with different repositories the use of different tools to improve the deploy as terminus so the documentation related to the integration of terminus with different repositories as GitHub, bitbucket, and others will be helpful.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basically, I am working with Pantheon to host different sites of different business the major benefits here are associated with the time deploying and the easiest way to roll back in case a release is not doing the correct thing.

I like the option to use Lando for deploying the site with this a good use of composer and a better managing of the site deploying locally can be done without causing too much problem when you are working with different sites at the same time.

**Official Response from Adam Arthur:**

> Thanks for your review and feedback, Yerminson. We appreciate the feedback on multisite and our branching. Glad that you're finding value in the workflows and how you can deploy sites for different businesses.

  ### 43. Support along the way with better-than-average tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** tim f. | User Experience Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Spinning up sites with 3 environments (dev, test, live), quick easy git repos and upstream access cuts site management time in half.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Some hosting options may be cheaper, but they make up for it with ease of use and tools.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using the agency version allows for tag teaming updates with clients and fixes a lot of billing issues that were present in the past.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello, Tim. I'm glad to hear that Pantheon's agile workflows and features help you and your team be more productive. Coming from a user experience professional, this means a lot. Thank you.

  ### 44. Great Web Host

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erik Jon B. | Freelance Marketing and Creative Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Very easy to use for multiple websites and brands.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

There's not much I don't like. I haven't used many alternatives and have no reason to.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

It's the only web host you'll ever need.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I really like the dev>test>live. It allows me to test changes on my site before pushing them live, since I'm not a developer. If I mess up, I can restore backup.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello, Erik. I'm glad to hear that Pantheon makes it easy for you to manage different websites and brands. Thank you for trusting us.

  ### 45. Unless you have a skilled developer on your team - choose a more user friendly company

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

If you are skilled and want to learn Pantheon, I believe they're a good option. I also don't think those considering Pantheon because of its differences with the majority of hosting companies should read into my review.

However, if your anything but super technical, they might not be ideal.

Backups are easy, and can be scheduled or manually done. When manually backing up, it works 90% of the time. There is significant support documentation which is helpful because Pantheon is not similar to any other hosting provider, so everything you've learned from cpanel can be thrown out the window.

The interface is nice, and easy to navigate.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

I want to preface this with the fact that I don't know if my review is fair. I believe Pantheon is a good company, and I am the wrong customer. I am a business owner with an ability to build and maintain my site, however, all of my skills come from me following tutorials online. - So take this for what it is worth.

Pantheon requires a high level of understand, not basic. Virtually anytime I want to implement something I've learned elsewhere from a tutorial online, I am immediately confronted with the fact that Pantheon runs on nginx, so most tutorials found elsewhere are of no use.

Multidev always have 504 errors. Which requires you to refresh your page a couple of times to get it to clear. - This is always frustrating, but only happens on multidev and not live.

Support is hit or miss. I've been on support chats with some incredible people on Pantheon, and they will go above and beyond to help. They're patient, provide me with suggestions and documentations, and walk me through what I need to do with clear screenshots and explanations.

However, other times, I am met with someone who is not interested in supporting me, is not patient, and does not want to clearly explain things.

Their staging platform is too complex and there are always issues. After using Pantheon for a few years and struggling to find a seamless was to commit changes, I hired a developer with Pantheon experience, and he too was met with complex issues just committing a staging site to live. - So I believe the complexity does carry over a little bit to those with more skill than me.

I believe some of my most frustrated moments in the last years have been a result of me simply trying to publish changes to my site, only for Pantheon to throw issue after issue my way.

The price is also too high. Once you reach 30k page views, the cost goes from around $40 to more than $200. Comparing that with WPX.net, a company I have my eye on switching over to, the price bump would go from $25 to $50 once you reach that mid-tier. - Maybe I am comparing apples to oranges here because Pantheon does a bit more, but their added features are not justifiable by someone who just has a simple Wordpress business site.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For my use case, I believe Pantheon is causing more problems than they are solving, unfortunately. However, remember, I might not be their right customer.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hey there. Thank you for taking the time to write this thorough review. I'm sorry to hear that our product didn't quite meet the expectations you had in mind but I appreciate you sharing your perspective as a self-taught business owner because it truly helps us find ways to improve the platform for you and others.

  ### 46. No complaints here! Great service, love the developer tools, support is quick and helpful.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cheryl M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2020

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The process of pushing local development to a dev server, then to a test server, then live, then pulling a live db back down to local to implement new tools or testing... this is extremely smooth and easy. From the pantheon lando recipe to terminus commands, the process is smooth and easy. Spin up dev environments and create full backups with a click of a mouse. And, they take care of a lot of security details that we no longer have to be so crazy about... it's just done for you. I've even had issues with third party stuff that Pantheon doesn't necessarily provide support for, and they've always been 100% helpful in getting me answers or pointing me in the right direction. It's really a breath of fresh air using their service.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

I can't think of much to dislike other than price. Pricing is fine to pass on when you have business clients, but, not necessarily doable for personal sites or startups without funding. Still, in those cases, I would recommend starting up your site elsewhere and then moving it to pantheon when budget allows, to take advantage of all pantheon offers in performance, security features, etc.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

For businesses with Drupal or Wordpress sites, I'd highly recommend Pantheon. They've got it all covered, from security to performance to development flow, to support. It's a well-rounded service by professionals who know what they're doing. And, they are actively always improving to remain the best at what they do.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I would say that the pantheon dashboard solves the problem of keeping all our client sites in one place, easy to access, easy to update, easy to backup, easy to monitor. Benefits are low frustration levels! I've used many other hosts and I'll tell you, their "dashboards" will send you through a maze of different services in different places, where you always run into "that thing" that doesn't work, or doesn't make sense, or that you can't find. Then you spend an hour trying to get through to tech support. Well... NOT at Pantheon. They make it easy. And if you can't find something, they are just one click away and you're talking with a real person who knows what they're talking about. That's priceless.

**Official Response from Adam Arthur:**

> Cheryl, thanks for your review. Happy to hear that you'd highly recommend Pantheon.

  ### 47. Great Support and Great Company

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcy C. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2020

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The support with Pantheon is top-notch. We now have 3 websites on Pantheon and I wouldn't think about switching. They work with each year on our billing and we are so grateful for having great people that work at Pantheon. Overall, the system is great and offers. lots of services.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The only downside is you have to pay for multisite if you don't have a certain subscription. Support can also be expensive if you don't go with a certain plan.

I would love a little more control over our server settings.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have three sites on the platform and it's fast and I love having three different environments per site (LIVE, TEST, DEV).

Be able to have backups run automatically also is a HUGE benefit. I am not sure I am solving any problems but using Pantheon makes it much easier overall to manage our websites, make changes, go live and figure out issues with the website itself in the DEV site without messing with our LIVE site.

**Official Response from Adam Arthur:**

> Marcy, thanks for your review and feedback. Great to hear that all three of your websites on Pantheon are showing great performance and that you're finding value from our Dev, Test, Live environments.

  ### 48. Pantheon is awesome

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Varun A. | T, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Deployments, SSL certs, Pantheon support

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

I can say Pricing is little more than other providers not particularly Drupal

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy deployments, Easy developments with own development environment

  ### 49. Excellent onboarding

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan W. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

My team purchased Diamond Support with our hosting plan and it has proven to be a great value. The onboarding process has been very smooth so far. I really like my "customer success" engineer.

The tooling is great, too. I am so excited to be offering my clients SOLR search, caching with Redis, and fastly's CDN. Our web pages have never loaded so fast. I love how I can hookup GitLab CI/CD with Pantheon in a comprehensive pipeline that includes multi-dev, dev, test, and live environments. My developers and I have never had it so good.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Some members of my team are disappointed that they don't get to manage our servers anymore. Hahaha! Seriously, I haven't encountered anything on Pantheon that I have disliked. Well, I suppose I dislike that we don't have access to the cutting-edge version of Apache SOLR. On the other hand, I'm sure they'll upgrade soon enough.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are in the process of reinvigorating our entire web ecosystem, giving our organization a digital transformation. The 99.9% uptime is a revolution for my team. We weren't using Drupal before now, so that is another aspect that is giving is revelations on the regular.

**Official Response from Adam Arthur:**

> Jonathan, thank you for your review of Pantheon. Great to hear that you're finding tremendous value in our WebOps Platform and the Diamond Support. (Sorry we've taken server management away from your team haha). We're excited to hear more from your success on Pantheon and are available at any time for questions or to help with anything.

  ### 50. Pantheon will save you time. And time is more valuable than money.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin W. | Information Technology Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon has allowed me us to automate our workflow, limit malware and php intrusions, and get a handle of our dev-ops with a single container for each applications environments and version control. This saves a ton of time spent on maintenance and in many cases eliminates some of the tasks we needed to complete for our maintenance contracts.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

I can't say I have any dislikes of the Pantheon system. However, I would recommend some form of built-in reporting that can be presented in a simple way for managed clients. I.e. after making upgrades, maintenance fixes it would be great if Pantheon kept a log with some details that can be auto-compiled into a white-labeled report.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Definitely give it a try. It's free to use the sandbox for testing projects.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting, maintenance and devOps. We've benefited by having a single container for our environments which makes it easy to onboard new developers and spend more time on building applications and experiences.

**Official Response from Adam Arthur:**

> Kevin, thanks for your review. It's great to hear that you and your team are finding ways to work more efficiently (and save time, which is essentially money). And, we appreciate the feedback on the reporting.
