## OpenWeb Reviews
  ### 1. More Than A Chat Provider, Truly Collaborative Partnership and Biggest Advocate

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kate A. | Marketing and Public Relations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2022

**What do you like best about OpenWeb?**

Open web is responsive and can easily be reached at a moment's notice to answer our questions and help troubleshoot when need be.

**What do you dislike about OpenWeb?**

We've had lots of issues with bugs that impact the chatter experience and create a headache for our staff to monitor and try to have Openweb resolve. There's some bugs that take an absorbant amount of time to fix, there's one specific issue that's been outstanding over 6 months and still is not resolved.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenWeb:**

The ease of use, responsive support, continually updating software, and intuitive features make this the ideal time-saving chat platform for our entire team.

**What problems is OpenWeb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our live cams have a true community through the chat; the benefit for us is active engagement with our viewers.

  ### 2. Openweb Pros & Cons

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven K. | Ad Ops/ Campaign Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2022

**What do you like best about OpenWeb?**

Comments management & monetization functions are easy to understand.

**What do you dislike about OpenWeb?**

Limitation of controlling widget loading speed, and ad quality. Ad revenue is very small. Also, I can't manage the ad inventory as well as can't launch house ads & direct-sold ad from my end which also require to agree beforehand.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenWeb:**

If you have existing comments data, you must have strong IT support from your end. It requires a long process of transferring all the data and syncing between Openweb & Your website's existing login system.
You won't expect huge revenue from their monetization.

**What problems is OpenWeb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to activate the comments feature through them by displaying article lists that are popular in comment activity.

  ### 3. Great way to show more content and gain interactions, but poor monetization in Latin America

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** sven s. | Gerente General, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2021

**What do you like best about OpenWeb?**

It's a great way to show popular content from our site and increase engagement. It has a great interface to manage interactions and remove unwanted content. It also allows the monetization of the pages but CPMs are very low, at least in Latin America.

**What do you dislike about OpenWeb?**

It makes the pages slower which is a concern regarding Google's latest speed requirements for better rankings. This, coupled with poor monetization (very low CPMs in Latin America) has made me deactivate the service in my main site.

Another problem is that they only offer payments via wire transfer, with a minim of US $200 (with a fee of $26) via something called Tipalti. No PayPal payments.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenWeb:**

Check your pagespeed insights with and without the service.

**What problems is OpenWeb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed to increase the engagement of users on our site, and doing it while also monetizing seemed like a great idea. I started using Openweb about 2 years ago (it had another name back then) but decided to remove it from my main site when Google started taking into account the page's speed, as the monetization was too low. I currently use it only on my news site where traffic is generated via social networks instead of search engines.

**Official Response from Jordan Stein:**

> Hi Sven,

Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you hear how you increased user engagement with OpenWeb, and we’re sorry that your experience didn’t meet all of your expectations.

At OpenWeb, our team is constantly optimizing our products to ensure we’re the lightest and fastest community engagement platform on the web. Over the past few years we have made major investments in our tech to improve on this important front.

Using Google’s PageSpeed Insights, we observed that OpenWeb’s is 48% faster than the alternative—and we are always reducing impact on page performance.

You can read more about our recent successful efforts regarding Core Web Vitals performance in our blog post, “Building Audience Starts With Speed” here: https://www.openweb.com/blog/building-audience-starts-with-speed

Additionally, our blog, “Discovery Starts with Search: How OpenWeb Stacks Up to The Competition” outlines OpenWeb’s excellent performance via Google Lighthouse: https://www.openweb.com/blog/discovery-starts-with-search-how-openweb-stacks-up-to-the-competition

If you’d like to speak with us directly about your experience, or have any questions not covered here, please feel free to reach out to your Partner Success manager. We’d love to hear from you, and understand any other way in which we might be able to improve your experience.

All the best,

  ### 4. OpenWeb vs MundoDeportivo

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Newspapers | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2022

**What do you like best about OpenWeb?**

They are very professional. They maintain a constant relationship with us, have active listening, and pay attention to the needs we may demand. Always willing to help with any problem we may have. When we have had any requests towards them, they are very active in seeking to provide the best solution.

**What do you dislike about OpenWeb?**

in particular, I don't dislike anything, our experience with them has always been satisfactory.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenWeb:**

It is a good bet, good deal, good product, good reaction in case of problems, and flexible in negotiation.

**What problems is OpenWeb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Initially, we solved many security problems that our comment systems previously had, which took us a lot of management time.
- With your system, we gain in:
    - security in the comments.
    - higher quality and control in the conversations.
    - lower cost in moderation on our part.

  ### 5. RNS review of OpenWeb

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2022

**What do you like best about OpenWeb?**

I appreciate the personal touch that OpenWeb brings -- it feels like a real partnership. They have been very responsive and generous with their time and efforts.

**What do you dislike about OpenWeb?**

I don't dislike anything -- but I think it would be great to do biannual monthly analytics reviews with the team or have reports sent to us so that we can learn how to use the data points better.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenWeb:**

You are lucky to be working with such a responsive team -- be sure to take advantage of that as possible (given OpenWeb's availability!).

**What problems is OpenWeb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are raising a lot of revenue through various ad placements, including "sponsored" / client ad placements that OpenWeb was kind enough to help us build out, and we are also getting a lot of great engagement on the site through comments and click throughs.

  ### 6. Amazing Responsive Team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Writing and Editing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2022

**What do you like best about OpenWeb?**

I love how quick anyone from OpenWeb responds to any requests. Be it creating new accounts, or any troubleshooting. They are right on top of it.

**What do you dislike about OpenWeb?**

Some of the limitations of our own CMS prevent us from utilizing some of the great tools that OpenWeb has. Hoping this gets resolved with a new CMS.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenWeb:**

I would highly recommend OpenWeb to any newsroom that wants to get information out faster to their audience.

**What problems is OpenWeb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Utilizing the blogs helps us get our information out faster to our viewers. In the past, we'd have to get a full story up in our CMS. Now we can put a line in a blog and send it out.

  ### 7. Always thinking of new ideas

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2021

**What do you like best about OpenWeb?**

I've very much enjoyed working with the OpenWeb team. Whenever there have been bugs, they've been quick to respond. What's more, though, is that they are always there to listen to our ideas for new features or to tweak old ones. Just last week, we got in touch with them about two changes to a particular feature in the commenting module; one of them was implemented immediately, and the other, more complex, one, was taken forward to their development team. There has always been room to personalise the platform to suit the needs of our business as well.

**What do you dislike about OpenWeb?**

As with any technical product, there will always be bugs and room for improvement. However, I don't see this as a major issue given how responsive the team our when we raise issues or suggest new ideas (see above).

**What problems is OpenWeb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use the OpenWeb commenting platform for our articles online. The algorithm has allowed us to filter through toxic and otherwise problematic comments effectively; this means that comments that might otherwise not come to our attention are flagged. Another major benefit is that commenters are alerted to problematic elements in their posts while they are typing. Before this function was implemented, commenters would often post content and then be puzzled as it wasn't published. Now they can take action before posting; this has made taking part in the community as well as content moderation much more transparent.

  ### 8. OpenWeb has proven to be agile and easy to use to manage comments in our website

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jordi C. | Chief Operating Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2022

**What do you like best about OpenWeb?**

For the moderation team it is very easy to use. Fast and intuitive. It has not required a learning curve. Also the implementation process it was easy and we were in contact with the team

**What do you dislike about OpenWeb?**

Nothing concrete right now, but we'll keep an eye out for platform updates

**Recommendations to others considering OpenWeb:**

Definitely I recommended OpenWeb

**What problems is OpenWeb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The management of comments on LaVanguardia.com. The speed and reliability of automatic filters is essential to make the best possible management

  ### 9. OpenWeb is a great platform that delivers traffic, revenues and a manageable commenting system

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Publishing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2022

**What do you like best about OpenWeb?**

The interface and moderation system is largely easy to use, and the commenting platform is straightforward enough for most users to use it without issues.

**What do you dislike about OpenWeb?**

The search function for users is a bit clunky, and the account management area could use some streamlining.

**What problems is OpenWeb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's much easier to use for moderating discussions and comments and makes it simpler to prohibit and control bad actors than other commenting platforms we've used.

  ### 10. Good partners for our website over the years

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kasey M. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2021

**What do you like best about OpenWeb?**

Love the ease of the platform and they've been a great ad partner with great payment terms.

**What do you dislike about OpenWeb?**

In recent years I've found their product to not progress enough, especially when compared to some of their competitors. Also had issues with communication.

**What problems is OpenWeb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Monetization and commenting. The commenting is almost on auto pilot thanks to their comprehensive suite of tools.

  ### 11. One of my favorite partners

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oleg S. | Chief Technology Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2021

**What do you like best about OpenWeb?**

Being open. Literally. Support your needs. We had custom features development during onboarding time: we were collaborating together to add missing languages, as well as to add custom integration for our own SSO system as well as custom support of our paid subscribers.

**What do you dislike about OpenWeb?**

Served ads might still hurt your SEO metrics. Though OpenWeb is always open: they are doing their best to expedite scripts' loading time as well to reduce spare calls.

**What problems is OpenWeb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

* Fresh and modern look. Ability to customize
* Ratings, likes, conversaiton trees, avatars, influencer statuses
* Translation to 17 languages (ability to translate by ourselves)
* Support of our SSO and paid subscription
* RevShare option
