What do users say about Motive?

Geofences are a great feature that I really like. I’m also in charge of all road calls and fleet diagnostics, so being able to see fault codes remotely from anywhere makes my job a lot easier. Software is very easy to navigate with a very reasonable pricing I am happy I switched to Motive GPS. The accuracy of the GPS is another thing I noticed, with my large fleet I am able to pinpoint all my trucks reliably with Motive, the previous software I used does not compare. I had a very positive experience with Motive. The real time driving Fleet View helps better estimate time arrivals. And the compliance helps keeps safety goals at the top of the agenda. The logs provide helpful details information about routes and time spent in the field to help verify every aspect of the journey. Don't know that we'd do with out it! The machines don't always record properly this cause issues with addition paperwork and verification. We are trying to move to a paperless system but with errors like this it ensures we will have to keep a backup at all times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like best about Motive is how easy it is to navigate and understand. Everything you need to track your drivers location and logs is right in front of you and nothing is hidden. It works quickly, which makes me quick at my job. I've integrated it with another system called Cargo where I can cross reference truck numbers and departure/arrival times. What I dislike the most about Motive is that when you call for support you only get Ai. Sometimes when one of my drivers calls Motive for assistance with their logs or the system itself, the phone is only answered by Ai and it can make it difficult for the driver to find the answers they need. What I like most is the real-time GPS tracking accuracy and the platform's clarity. It allows me to see the exact location of each unit without delays, greatly facilitating route planning, trip assignment, and communication with customers to provide truly reliable estimated arrival times.

What I highlight the most is how intuitive the application is for drivers when logging their hours of service (HOS). It greatly simplifies compliance with SCT / DOT regulations, drastically reduces human errors in logs, and makes roadside inspections faster and hassle-free.

I also value the AI-powered security alert system and the quality of the video cameras. It gives us complete visibility of what happens on the road, helps monitor drivers' driving habits, and serves as a key tool for determining responsibilities in case of incidents.

Finally, I like that it centralizes all the necessary tools for fleet management in one place: from live tracking and electronic log compliance to maintenance reports and fuel consumption. The web interface for administrators includes so many features and configuration options that, at first, the learning curve is somewhat steep. For new users, it can be overwhelming, and generally, a considerable amount of training time is needed to master all the reporting modules.

On the other hand, the AI-powered alert system in the cameras is sometimes too sensitive. It occasionally generates false positives for distractions or events that seem like security issues but aren't, which can end up tiring or annoying drivers during the trip. Motive is a great tool that allows companies and dispatchers to track their units and view real-time, relevant data. It’s also very good at flagging potential truck issues through the dashboard. It lets us see equipment locations and helps us integrate with the systems we use, such as FLEET.IO and MCLEOD software.

The interface is very user-friendly, and it’s easy to navigate, which makes for a solid overall experience on the platform.

It’s also fast when dialing in locations and addresses, although there have been a few instances where the ETA service was inaccessible or provided incorrect information.

Price-wise, it really depends on how much capacity you need in order to get a fast ROI. Installing units with the ELD and then not using them will just eat up money through ongoing costs.

The asset minis have been working well and so have the gateways for the most part. We have had a lot of connection issues this year with the elog system. We have been given reset instructions for phones and gateways. We still have issue with phones/tablets freezing on drive time and the driver has to reset either the phone or the gateway to get back to normal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best part about Motive not only their hardware is high quality, but their support is unlike anything I have seen. They fix problems quickly and make me feel like I am a valued customer. Their AI support agent helps with lots of quick problems, but getting in touch with a human isn't hard. Their pricing is relatively competitive, and compared to similar platforms, well worth it. Having our fuel cards linked with our fleet dashboard is a huge boost to our ease of costing. The Interface is easy to use, and the system overall and apps perform exceptionally well, and our drivers have been using the insights given to them by the system to improve their safe driving habits. There are some issues that we have found, and sometimes the cameras take a while to turn on and allow you to connect to the vehicle. But so far, the issues have been fixed or are being looked into. I like that Motive covers different fleet needs, and I find new helpful features every day. I can see where my assets and employees are in real time, get accurate ETAs, and keep track of DQ files, document due dates, and maintenance updates. The precise fuel reports help me report to IFTA and track where fuel is going, how much is being used, and over what time period. They can also help me spot when a truck is losing more fuel than usual, while the codes that appear when a warning light comes on give me some direction about the possible cause. When I have questions about the software or a feature, the AI chatbot gives me quick answers. At first, I found it hard to adjust all the settings to my needs. Sometimes, though not very often, everything disconnects and the dashboard stops updating where my units are, usually for about 3–5 minutes. As the Safety Manager, I’ve found this system very helpful because it gives me one place to manage all of my driver qualification documents. I no longer need to keep paper files, and I can easily drag and drop documents into Motive and assign them to the correct driver. The AI scan pulls in the data and also sends reminders to both the manager and the driver when documents are expiring and need renewal.

I also really like the Safety tab and being able to track each driver’s safety score. The coaching feature has been great as well, since it lets the operations manager coach drivers on their performance with just a click. I’m a very new user, and so far I haven’t run into any downsides. My only real gripe has been getting all the administrative settings configured and having the cameras installed, but that’s something you’d need to do with any telematics company.
