&lt;p&gt;The staffing angle changes this comparison quite a bit. I’d map every piece of “control” to who on a small team actually has to operate it after launch. If flexibility means someone now owns node health, upgrades, credentials, and incident response, that control has a real staffing cost. The useful balance is probably the control the team will genuinely exercise, not the maximum the platform exposes.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For a startup, Kaleido feels like the better balance if developer control matters alongside managed reliability. I’d lean toward AWS only when the surrounding stack is already deeply AWS-native; otherwise, the reduced blockchain-specific flexibility could become the constraint later.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For a five-person team the balance question resolves to staffing: control you can&#39;t put on-call for is just liability with extra dashboards. That&#39;s what makes the middle option here tricky, AMB gives you AWS reliability but the least blockchain-native control, and the below-average satisfaction tracks with cloud generalists bolting on a category. Kaleido&#39;s case is that FireFly makes the control actually usable by a small team. A fourth option only becomes smarter if you discover your real need is one chain, at which point a plain node provider beats all three.&lt;/p&gt;
