## About Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Web on Windows Server 2012 RTM
The SQL Server Amazon Machine Images (AMI) is built, updated, and fully-patched by AWS within five business days of Microsoft's patch Tuesday (the second Tuesday of each month). Launching an instance from this AMI enables you to run the instance as a database server and saves you the effort to install SQL Server software. This AMI comes with following software and drivers including AWS Systems Manager, AWS CloudFormation, AWS Tools for Windows PowerShell, Network drivers, and Storage drivers. You can use AWS Launch Wizard to easily size, configure, and deployment SQL Server applications on AWS. Launch Wizard for SQL Server supports both single instance and high availability deployments according to AWS and SQL Server best practices.

**What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Web on Windows Server 2012 RTM?**

I'm a big fan of SQL Server 2014 and the web edition is a lower-priced, easily licensed version, that you can run on your web server - in this case, Windows Server 2012. What this means is you can easily run Microsoft-based (i.e. .NET, etc.) apps on a web server hosted outside of your organisation gaining flexibility and security, while using a stack your developers are comfortable with.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Web on Windows Server 2012 RTM?**

There's nothing to dislike, but it is worth noting newer versions exist. SQL Server 2016 provides more in-memory functionality, plus query store, etc., while more modern versions of Windows Server exist. However, if you're running a light web server older versions of these products still cut it fine. Just be sure to have a web application firewall or something else to keep you protected from vulnerabilities.

**What problems is Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Web on Windows Server 2012 RTM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used it for hosting our public-facing website on commercial (external) hosting with a dedicated server. It allowed our .NET devs to make a great web application on a robust platform that they were familiar with, and also to draw data into Power BI and other analytical tools.

Good experience with ec2 and ms sql, comes with ready to use and can connect seamlessly

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Web on Windows Server 2012 RTM?**

I think ms sql on dedicated server option was not available, it should be because sql serves in some use cases tend to be resource hungry so having them on dedicated servers have more value.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Web on Windows Server 2012 RTM:**

Using it optimized would give more results, try to use only required services

Traditional DB server in cloud and accessible from anywhere, flexibility.
