## About Lokalize
Lokalize is a computer-aided translation system that focuses on productivity and quality assurance.

## Lokalize Reviews
  ### 1. Not useful unless committed to open source

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan H. | Latin Teacher, Primary/Secondary Education, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Lokalize?**

The price is right. Free and open source means no licensing fees, no subscription costs. Great for small companies with a limited budget.

**What do you dislike about Lokalize?**

Unless you run a Linux shop, the software is extremely difficult for a lay user of Windows to get going. Love KDE for personal use, but unless all your machines run KDE, this might not be the best option.

**Recommendations to others considering Lokalize:**

Unless you are prepared the contribute to the KDE project in the open source model and have the expertise to troubleshoot and provide your own support, there are plenty of commercial software options that can be production-ready in far less time. Would not recommend for critical projects. Also be aware of its extremely limited utility. According to its own wiki page: "Lokalize is also a general computer-aided translation system (CAT) with which you can translate OpenDocument files (*.odt). Translate-Toolkit is used internally to extract text for translation from .odt to .xliff files and to merge translation back into .odt file." It will not work with Microsoft Word files.

**What problems is Lokalize solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to translate source documents for non-English-speaking users. Had to abandon it in the end.

  ### 2. Translation very easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2016

**What do you like best about Lokalize?**

The interface and suggestions are very powerful also the hotkeys are very useful

**What do you dislike about Lokalize?**

The compile of po files is missing and not support the poedit features like the scan of the new strings.

**Recommendations to others considering Lokalize:**

Remember to configure the user of the translation in that way all the files translated have the correct author flags

**What problems is Lokalize solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Translation are silly but with that software are less silly.
