## About memoQ
memoQ TMS is a full-fledged enterprise translation management system (TMS) that has been created to help localiztation teams of enterprises and Language Service Providers achieve their goals. It is the No.1. choice for: • Enterprises interested in exceptional translation productivity & quality in a collaborative and highly controlled environment. Our team has experience in many areas, including but not limited to: Gaming, Finance, Manufacturing, Logistics, Life sciences, Audiovisual • Technology companies with agile localization workflows – to automate project management and cope with frequent updates • Content owners with complex/custom integration requirements (content management systems, machine translation, etc.) • Smaller Localization Teams looking for scalable solution for their language management along with their evolving global presence and language coverage • Language service providers that receive localization packages from multiple buyers in different formats and want to process them in a single interoperable system. With memoQ TMS, you can ensure that all the terms and expressions used across your texts and documents are consistent and correct. Translators and reviewers can work with term bases, add terms, and collaborate in real time to maintain a single source for terminology across all your translations. This means that all new entries must be approved, and your term base is always consistent for all stakeholders. High Security Standards: Keep your Data Safe with memoQ TMS You can host your data on-premises or in the cloud. Updates and security tests are regularly performed to ensure that all your data and processes are safe. memoQ is compliant to ISO 9001:2015 and to ISO/IEC 27001:2017. For localization teams with one project manager memoQ TMS Starter is available in the cloud. For more complex applications memoQ TMS can be deployed in private cloud or on-premise; with expert implementation assistance.

Though there are a TON of features on MemoQ, it is very easy to use for basic translation tasks. Also, the customer support is very good. I've had one or two urgent issues, and the team has helped me resolve them very quickly.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

 ### 11. Brief experience . Poor client-oriented service.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Almira Z. | Linguistic Center Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2024

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

Traditionally here at our company we used to work with desktop CAT-tools such as SDL Trados Studio. Since our corporate license was expired and it´s renovation seemed far too expensive, we switched to MemoQ 9.10 and at the beginning we were very happy and busy, transferring our translation memories to this new soft and creating new glossaries. The interface seemed okeyish from user interface's point of view. and we thought it was just a matter of getting used to a new tool or taste. First communication with Business Development of MemoQ which was, logically, quite persistent, was smooth.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

I find MemoQ's interface overloaded and tricky, and not so friendly to, let's say, new comers in translation industry (new learners). My senior colleagues experienced some difficulties in using this soft (comparing with cloud services, for example). It is bit sluggish and cluttered, but the real "dislike" is based on disappointment with customer support. Our company, as all big organizations with complicated internal processes, finally decided to proceed with MemoQ after trial version was expired but MemoQ didn't show much interest in renovating with us (I was sending multimple emails but never got any answer) and we finally purchased Phrase.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MemoQ as any other CAT tool is oriented to speed up the whole translation or localization process by automiting the translation tasks and facilitating managing multiple translation tasks. This fosters to save costs and time that translators or companies invest in these daunting challenges.

 ### 12. Unlocking Efficiency and Precision: A Comprehensive Review of memoQ Translator Pro

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ivana G. | Assistant Professor / Arabic Language, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2023

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

MemoQ Translator Pro is my go-to for showing students the ropes of localization. It's cool because it shows them the entire translation process, from remembering past translations to handling technical terms. This tool gets students hands-on with every aspect of the job, making learning a total dive-in experience. The best part is the machine translation feature, bringing a techy vibe to the learning journey and helping students grab practical skills that match the latest trends. Thanks to MemoQ Translator Pro, my students really get what localization is all about, making their learning experience both awesome and well-rounded.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

Setting up machine translation in memoQ Translator Pro can be a bit tricky, which might be challenging for users who prefer a simpler configuration process.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MemoQ Translator Pro is incredibly valuable for addressing challenges in the realm of localization, providing an effective platform for teaching students about various crucial aspects. It facilitates comprehensive learning on topics like translation memories, term bases, file formats, strings, variables, tags, and URLs. This not only enhances my ability to convey theoretical knowledge but also enables practical, hands-on engagement, ensuring that students gain a well-rounded understanding of localization intricacies. The user-friendly interface and versatile features of MemoQ Translator Pro significantly contribute to a more effective and enriching teaching experience, benefitting both educators and students alike.

 ### 13. MemoQ for translation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dominique R. | Présidente, Translation and Localization, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2023

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

It's an easy to use memory based translation tool. The other similar software are way too complicated.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

Not good when translating Excel sheets. When exporting the document, you have to copy the text back in the spreadsheet and it takes a long time.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When exporting the document, the layout is pretty similar to the original, but mostly being able to create a memory for each client speeds up translation for the clients because you can keep the same terminology, do research and even copy back translation of the same terms or even sentences.

 ### 14. Organized, fairly easy to understand and good for the eye.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mina F. | English<>Arabic, Spanish>Arabic/English Linguist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2023

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

It feels way more organized and less hectic than Trados and any other CAT tool I tried. The space where the segments are (both source and target) is spacious (especially vertically), and that makes a lot of difference to me. Also getting around it is not difficult at all and easy to understand.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

I don't feel like I get a lot of matches; not as I expect. Dealing with tags is also not so smooth, and it's sometimes time-consuming, because the tags don't show you what they are for, eg, 'bold', 'italic', etc.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps a lot in organizing a text file to be translated. It divides sentences into "segments", and it records repeated segments and offers them as suggestions when they're repeated. I can also use it to save the definition/translation of specific terms/words, and so that it becomes easier for me to translate them when they are repeated.

 ### 15. EN>RU/UK medical translations using memoQ

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2024

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

Ease of Use
Frequency of Use
Ease of Implementation

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

When translating, the need to ignore (by manually ticking the appropriate box) each warning - code 03091

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Qualitative, comfortable, and fast translation and/or review of medical texts

**Official Response from Maria Petrusan:**

> Thank you for sharing your experience with memoQ.

 ### 16. Simply the best CAT tool in town

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2023

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

There are many functionalities that make the translation process flow smoothly, the editor is very customizable and it is compatible with many plugins

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

The subtitle file formats compatible with memoQ are very limited, which is pretty inconvenient.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can handle localization files smoothly, transforming placeholders and all the hard code into unchangeable tags which is super useful for a digital product in order not to break the code.

 ### 17. user friendly

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2023

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

It is a user-friendly platform for translators. The menus are easier to identify and configure as the user prefers.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

MemoQ is one of the most expensive CAT tools available in the market. The company doesn't offer sales often. Many translators don't use the tool due to its price.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes my work as a translator easier due to the complete menus. The main tasks needed can be easily accessed. It supports the most important format files.

 ### 18. An amazing CAT tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emre C. | Translator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2022

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

MemoQ has tons of features with a lot of programming language support. You can navigate your way through it even with the toughest source files, term-bases and translation memories.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

The interface can be quite complicating since it has tons of different features and modes in it. A tutorial or guidance is definitely necessary before getting your hands on this product.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a freelance translator/localization expert, some companies I work for prefer MemoQ and create their projects on this CAT tool. I can use regular expressions to modify texts, remove or display specific parts of it, making the translation process much faster and more consistent!

 ### 19. MEMO Q IS A TRANSLATION TOOL OF EXCELLENCE

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sergiy L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

MemoQ is unique in every way. The shortlist of features I love most includes the following: TMs, TBs, Concordance, segmentation, connection with the LT, the system of Live Documents. Plus: top-notch technical support provided by the professionally outstanding team of specialists. A most recent example: prompt and efficient assistance from the memoQ team associate named Mária Gergőné Petrusán (memoQ Help Center).

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

There is nothing "dislikable" about memoQ. It's altogether lovely and user-friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2022

Not being able to work offline. Not being able to work 2 translators on the same document at the same time.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

No.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avoiding repetitions, decent QA, etc... Makes our life much easier.

 ### 21. English to Arabic Translator

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tasneem H. | Freelance Translator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2021

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

It's one of my favorite CAT tools. As I think it is so flexible and well-organized.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

If there is no licence, its so hard to use the features.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

I recommend using MemoQ tools. As I think its so easy to use and increase productivty.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to create multi-termbases and TMs all at once.

 ### 22. The best translation tool on the market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ari R. | Authorised translator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2021

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

MemoQ is translator-focused, which means that it contains an enormous amount of well-thought-out and intuitive features that support the information processing tasks a translator faces every day. This supports translation quality and improves productivity, which improves customer satisfaction, which in turn improves your financial performance.

One of the features that sets memoQ apart from its competitors is the LiveDocs feature. It is like a document pool that works like a TM, indicating to you if the text you are translating contains sections or terms from the docs in the pool – and they do not even have to have a translated counterpart. For example, when translating texts that refer to EU regulations, you can chuck in a suitable range of regulations (and their translations) from EUR-Lex and do not even have to align them fully. The LiveDocs will then work as an extra TM, and you can add and delete them at will. This brings massive benefits in terms of terminology, phraseology, and even some matches at times. Try this with the GDPR when translating a privacy policy and see what I mean.

The QA features, which in many CAT tools are a huge timewaster, are slick and sensible in memoQ.

The file import filters are also excellent, especially for Excel. Configuring a machine translation option is also quick and straightforward.

The critically important termbase function is powerful, resulting in fewer false alarms in QA.

To conclude, the best feature of memoQ is that it is based on a genuine understanding of translation as a profession and a livelihood. Whenever I can choose my translation tool freely, I will always opt for MemoQ. I have at times also preferred customers who want me to use MemoQ as opposed to some other tool.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

There is nothing I dislike. For newcomers, though, MemoQ's range of features might feel a bit intimidating, but the time invested in learning them will pay huge dividends.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

Where I come from, MemoQ the most popular tool among experienced translators for a good reason: it pays itself back very quickly thanks to its powerful features.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Translation of complex and demanding texts in a wide range of formats with high-quality results, profitably.

 ### 23. It is the choice you should make for streamlining translation workflow.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shigeki I. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2020

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

memoQ server is very intuitive and yet super powerful solution for both translating work and administrating translation projects.
memoQ translator Pro for individual translators include very powerful and unique features such as Live Docs, Auto Translation Rules, etc. These functions and settings can be shared among a group of translators with memoQ server.

Also monthly charged mobile licenses allows flexible budgeting for service providers. When the number of mobile licenses is short, then you can simply increase the number through the memoQ account and reduce the number when too many licenses are in the license pool for a certain period of time.

memoQ server on the browser version provides improved user interface which is super user-friendly, so first time you log in you can get the big picture as to where to go when you want to do a certain task.

Among many useful function, I am super fond of "View" function. It collects segments containing certain terms from multiple files into a single "view" file. This is particularly useful in keeping consistency, when the project contains dozens of files allotted to many different translators, because there is no need to open individual files and check. You simply have to collect segments meeting a certain condition from a bundle of files into one file and do the reviewing and correction in that single file. Everything done in that single view file will be reflected real-time in the respective files where segments are originated.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

More useful features for CCJK languages would be highly appreciated, because some features such as muse and term extraction does not really work for these languages.

I know it is technically very difficult, however, it would be also nice to have predictive typing for double-byte characters.
This should be also difficult and may cause a lot of fundamental issues, but if the translation editor can use highlighter, memoQ will be even more powerful.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

Among a number of CAT tools and TMS, memoQ is definitely a promising choice.
memoQ server solution streamlines human translation, machine translation, PEMT at a very reasonable cost.

The super friendly and helpful support team will be available worldwide 24/7. It is THE solution to your translation business.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have significantly reduced my burden and time for quality assurance.
Also allotting a huge file among multiple translators have been very easy as compared to the time before memoQ.

memoQ solution provides a very simple way to share the work and knowledge among team mates, at very reasonable costs.

 ### 24. Amazing software and superb support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2020

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

The support offered by the technical staff is second to none.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

Nothing. This software has everything it promises.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All my translations are done with MemoQ, as a lot of my customers have a server license. This works smooth and stable, never any hickups.

 ### 25. Positive review for MemoQ

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gwendal L. | Traducteur indépendant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2019

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

-Live Docs is great, allows you to build a Translation Memory from different versions (translated/original) of the same document. Identical parts of text will be recongized, and a translation will be suggested to you.
-The interface is clear and easy to understand. I picked it up on my own and quickly became proficient in the software.
-Being able to update to new versions for free while under subscription coverage is great, no need to pay for upgrades.
-Support for various APIs is also good.
-Export function recreates file formats accurately and with minimal bugs (Word, Excel, even Powerpoint), that is very powerful
-Overall I would recommend this software to bring your work to a new level of quality, especially when dealing with larger documents.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

-The interface is a little slog/laggy (I have a very powerful machine and yet I am experiencing some lag)
-The price is quite high. Although this is a very good product, I would have liked to pay less.
-The Live Docs algorithm, although very powerful, could benefit from some improvements in terms if aligning the correct sentences
-I would like to be able to search for terms across projects instead of being limited to searching in specific translations within projects. Again, when working on homogeneity this would be of help.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

If you are a conscientious translator looking to ensure the quality of your work and benefit from a powerful platform designed to make your life that much easier, do not hesitate to start using MemoQ. Even if it is a little expensive, the return on investment is guaranteed.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to translate very large documents with minimal headaches where homogeneity is concerned, ensuring the consistency of the work. When working on finalized documents, I am able to recreate the original formatting very accurately, which saves an ENORMOUS amount of time. I have now been using MemoQ for about 2 years and have been able to build a large Term Base that comes in very handy.

 ### 26. Easy to use yet full of features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2019

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

The basic features of MemoQ are quite easy to get the hang of. This makes it the perfect CAT tool for freelancers or small agencies that don't have experience with comparable software. However: don't let yourself be fooled by the simplicity, because once you go deeper into the software, the options are extensive!

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

MemoQ is always developing. Of course this is good, however sometimes a new version can cause bugs. The service desk is very friendly, yet not always helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

If you're looking for an easy to learn yet comprehensive CAT tool, this is the one!

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use MemoQ mainly for the consistency in our translations. It's easy to implement the software in the workflow with our freelance translators, even if they have another CAT tool or none at all. Some even decided to purchase the software after we introduced it to them!

 ### 27. User-friendly and predictive

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2019

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

What I like the most about MemoQ is how easy it is to effectively use it. It has a very user-friendly interface that makes it easy to look for and find what you are searching for at any given time. Also, accessing and checking the translation memories is extremely easy and convenient, you can search for terminology without wasting much time.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

As with all CAT tools, the worst part is always the price you need to pay for the license. Sometimes, if you need to use a particular CAT tool to carry out a project because that is the one tool the client uses, you may find yourself in a difficult situation: do I pay for a license I am barely going to use, or do I try to change the project extension to be able to work on it using a different program? It is never an easy one.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

Whenever I am given the option to choose the CAT tool I want to use to complete a particular project, MemoQ is always my first option. You can import files originally created using different CAT tools, complete the translation using MemoQ, then export it with the desired extension.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes translating easier. Being able to use translation memories and glossaries, sharing them with other translators working on the same project in the same server helps build a more reliable term base.

 ### 28. MemoQ SERVER review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2020

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

I didn't use it enough time to answer this question.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

It's the same here. I used it a long time ago and I don't remember.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Generally, I preferred using other softwares/ tools.

 ### 29. One of the best CAT tools for professional translators

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dmitry K. | Freelance Translator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2019

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

Excellent user interface and straightforward project setup process. I love how easy it is to start a new translation projects, add translation memories and term bases. Predictive typing is great too!

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

If I had to pick one, I'd say it's the pricing. It's a bit steep for newcomers to our profession, although for those of us who work on a daily basis memoQ pays for itself in no time.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been using memoQ for all my translation and localization project. MemoQ helps me increase daily word output thanks to the translation memory. Their excellent QA features help me ensure the quality and consistency when delivering files to my clients

 ### 30. The Ultimate CAT Tool - And Much More

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ágnes K. | Freelance Translator, Translation and Localization, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2019

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

I can't choose one single 'best', I have to make a list:

1. It integrates so many functions in one tool. I don't have to jump there and back or export-import files between tools.
2. I have been using it for about 4 years and it can always surprise me with a quicker, simpler solution I didn't think of.
3. Its tracking and versioning functions satisfy my sensitive control requirements.
4. Project templates and automated actions. My bread and butter.
5. Multilingual delimited text filter. I wish I had this all through my professional life.
6. MemoQfest (an annual event organized by memoQ). Once you attend, you will know why.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

Everything would be even a bit better if the whole thing, with all the functions of every kind of subscription would be moved to Webtrans.
And certificates should be issued for webinars, trainings, masterclasses. (The ISO auditor in me is taking the mic.)

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

It is an investment you won't regret for a second.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The time I save on client review by using bilingual rtf export option. I always attach the bilingual rtf to the delivery with instructions how to use it. Sometimes I can offer the implementation of preferential changes for free or for a very small proofreading fee if the clients send me the changes the bilingual rtf and they are so happy with the short turn-around-time of low cost the update.

I would like to add another benefit I experienced when I managed linguistic teams as project manager:
It doesn't only claim to be agile. It is agile. In the meaning that it gives you everything you need to support your clients' agile localization endeavors.

 ### 31. memoQ -- You're my <3, you're my soul ;)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabriella N. | Interpreter, Translator, Language Coach, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2019

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

I simply cannot imagine my freelance translator life without memoQ. The loved and appreciated features are too many to count, but here is a short and non-exhaustive list:
- very logical and easy use with __excellent__ shortcuts for complex tasks
- easy handling of working on a file in different locations through LT and backups
- heymemoQ is lovely because it manages the rare Hungarian language not handled by other voice recognition solutions very well
- less typing with my Muses
- great file handling options like filtering excel files based on background colour
- if you really learn your settings and software in depth you understand that it can help you become FAR more efficient than any other CAT-users, who use only the basic functions of their tool.
- templates to handle your projects fast
- Don't press and Zen buttons ;)

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

- that I still have to to the translation myself
- it would be great to have a mini project management function available for freelancers who work in mini-teams of 2-3 people, which could replace the use of 'views' to ensure even better process control

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

It is the most logical and user-friendly computer-assisted translation tool (CAT) around in the last 10 years or so. I purchased other software, but I hardly ever used them, partly because they are too cluttered and less reliable, and memoQ can handle all the main formats required by the industry nowadays. The developers really pay attention to real needs and are very approachable - they are really creating and developing software for the users. Great value for your money!

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Apart from the obvious CAT-tool (computer-assisted translation) functions like consistent terminology, adherence to Client requests and easy modification of formerly translated and then updated documents...
- for more effective and efficient work
- great proofreading tools through rtf export for linguist specialists without a CAT-tool
- easy term base management
- quality control
- very easy handling of the software
- very stable software that doesn't freeze or lets you down (no need to hit save button all the time)

 ### 32. Powerful and easy-to-use CAT tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Santiago d. | Freelance English-Spanish Translator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2019

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

The fact that memoQ has every feature other CAT tools have, but in a single, lighter and user friendly package. Terminology management is very simple and comprehensive. Support is very quick and accurate. And updates are frequent and useful.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

I am really happy with that memoQ has to offer. Price can be high for new translators (like any other major CAT tool), but it pays off as soon as you start completing translation jobs.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

Make sure you try the trial version, even if you use another CAT tool.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to accept work from agencies that use memoQ and I also managed to work more efficiently for my direct clients.

 ### 33. Translation Tool with Many Features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2019

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

MemoQ is simple to activate and get set up. There are many features and customization you can use, but the software doesn't seem overly complex and cumbersome to use.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

The manual is quite large and daunting and the introduction video is intensely long. It seems like it would be too difficult to use this software when in actuality it is fairly smooth to set up and use.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MemoQ allows me to be more efficient and consistent with my translations.

 ### 34. Likely the best choice for LSPs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wouter v. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

That memoQ Translator Pro is the best CAT tool on the market is beyond discussion. So the question is: does it add value for an LSP to implement memoQ Server -- rather than just letting translators do their thing? In my opinion, it does. memoQ Server extends the functionality of memoQ Translator Pro to managing complex multilingual projects using sophisticated filters, reference materials and QA, just to name the most important features. On top of that, we love the personal support by the Kilgray people.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

While memoQ is a translators' favorite (which is one of the reasons we chose memoQ server), unfortunatly, working online is not. Indeed, issues can arise when projects get very large, and connections unreliable. We have spent more time than we would have liked on support for translators. Having said that, experienced memoQ users tend to have fewer problems working on our server. Also, we are migrating to a server hosted by Kilgray. This may solve any problems that were due to a poor setup on our end. We are looking forward to working with the new situation.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

1. If you work with external translators, make sure a high percentage already likes working with memoQ and owns a license.
2. Consider having the server hosted by Kilgray. The monthly cost will probably be less than the cost incurred by time spent on support for translators.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maintaining consistency in projects with multiple languages and/or multiple translators per language.
Being able to process almost all relevant file formats.

 ### 35. Extensive CAT tool with a lot of features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stefan W. | Geschäftsführer, Translation and Localization, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

The great filter options to handle different file formats, sophisticated client-server concept, supreme functions for efficient ans consistent translation, overall support quality, pseudo-translation function for testing of filter configurations, fast and efficient translation using the translations results pane with all important hits in one window - and last not least: the yearly memoQfest, a great event that brings together users and experts from many industries.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

Some minor bugs that do not get fixed. Bad user permission concept for QTerm that prevents us from using it effectively ever since we bought the product.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

It offers about the same functionality as comparable Trados solutions at a more competitive price and higher speed. Interoperability with Trados users is fine, so you do not have to fear loosing translators who refuse to use the memoQ client. Only the terminology solution is inferior. If you look for something sophisticated, you have to opt for QTerm instead of the built-in term base and then you still might not like the user permission system.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

API-connection to customer's IT systems, filters for industry specific file formats, customer review process using bilingual rtf files and direct access wia memoQwebTrans, customizable QA through a number of different QA settings, integration of machine translation in the translation workflow, template-based fast and consistent project creation

 ### 36. One of the best CAT-Tools with lots of features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christian G. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

memoQ Server is great when working on larger translation projects or with more than one translator. It's capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously – each one with lots of translation resources (TMs, TBs, LiveDocs etc.).

It comes with an API, plug-ins for third party providers, an web-interface, server-to-server connections and a great community! Most of the features improve the translation quality.

It’s possible to handle 99 per cent of the files out there using pre-built filters. And there’s always an easy workaround for that missing 1 per cent – and if needed – supported by the memoQ support team. Customization and implementation for business or workflow specific tasks is also easy to do.

And not to forget to mention: there's memoQfest! A yearly get-together with users, engineers, sales and the inventors of memoQ!

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

Well, compared to other CAT tools, there's nothing I really dislike. Sometimes, the overall performance could be a bit better, but that's depending on how many projects you're running at the same time.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it as a hub for translation projects and translators. memoQ server also allows easy integration of some of our customer's systems through the built-in API.

 ### 37. Very satisfied with memoQ in almost every way

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Seth J. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

I really appreciate the flexibility the CAL system gives us when asking new users to try out memoQ. In a market like Japan which has relatively low penetration, it lets us easily offer users a way to try the software with real projects without laying out a lot of money.

And cascading input filters are incredible. When you need them, nothing else will do.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

The interface switches back to your default input mode when changing windows. (Japanese input > English input) which doesn't happen with any other program that I've experienced.

The package workflow isn't very intuitive. We would like to be able to add arbitrary workflows because sometimes TR>R1>R2 just isn't enough.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy collaboration with multiple resources simultaneously. Simplified onboarding of new resources who were leery of CAT tools when faced with having to buy an expensive license to even try out software.

 ### 38. Extremely useful and very powerful

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

memoQ is an exceptionally useful translation memory tool that has really helped shave hours off of hour translation times. As the memory base grows, you really begin to see massive benefits using memoQ as previous translations are automatically plugged in. The support team is very helpful and try their best whether it be night or day to respond quickly with solutions to any problems you may encounter.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

We have been using the Regex (regular expression) tagger feature to automatically bring tags over into the translation to make life easier for the translators; however, this sometimes causes the original format of the file to get corrupted when exporting. This is something that we are still trying to fix.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

I highly recommend attending the training sessions as they are very informative. If possible, the earlier the better because it is best to set up everything a streamline as possible in the beginning, so you don't have to go back and fix things later.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

memoQ has really helped us as a gaming company to cut our translation times drastically especially in when it comes to more rigid translations for example character skills etc. Also, it has helped us keep terms consistent when we outsource translations as we share the same term base and translation memory with the company we outsource to.

 ### 39. Making use of the advantage of a cloud-based CAT tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wim P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

memoQ server works well when working on big localization projects with multiple translators. The TM can be updated in real time so that new translations are directly shared with other translators. The fact that it is all in the cloud means that once your PC crashes during a translation, your work is still saved!

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

We are a Japanese company, and the Japanese market for CAT tools is almost monopolized by SDL Trados. It is sometimes difficult to find translators that are willing to work with memoQ. We reach out to them by sharing our licenses with them for a project, but still, it is hard to convince these translators. It would be nice if something could be developed so that SDL Trados users can also work with projects on a memoQ server.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

I think cloud based CAT tools such as memoQ server are the becoming a standard in the translation industry. memoQ server is very flexible and it is very easy to use for beginners. If you have experience with other CAT tools, you will have no problems working with memoQ server.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to submit a huge project within very limited time by making use of the shared TM and also the fact that a reviewer can start his work while the translator is still translating a document.
We also have memoQ plugged in to our TMS which makes it possible to set up projects and send out translations from our TMS.

 ### 40. One of most translator-friendly, cost-efficient, killer-CAT-tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** itome s. | Translator, Manager of Chinese dept. and Oversea marketing, Outsourcing/Offshoring, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

I cannot decide on what I like best, because there are so many. I like memoQ as a whole.
It was very much a love-in-first-sight, when I saw memoQ demonstration at ATA annual conference in Chicago, 2014. I had been writing Word VBA and some other script languages to make my translation work more efficient for over a decade, and memoQ was exactly something I wish I could someday create and spread to other translators around me.
While there are a lot of CAT tools available, there aren't many tools that are truly user-friendly for translators who actually do translation work. Various filters and view functions, LiveDoc Corpora, Predictive typing, Auto-Pick are only some examples of many powerful functionalities memoQ has for easing work of individual translators and checkers. Particularly those filtering and views of memoQ is a killer functions, especially when you have many documents in a single project and realize you have to go through and check all other documents while you are translating the very last document. For example, instead of opening each of the files in the project, you can just filter out and collect every segment containing a particular string from all the documents in the same project, in a single view file. Any correction or change made to a segment in the view file will be reflected to the corresponding segment of the corresponding document in the project.
Despite the large number of powerful functions, memoQ is yet relatively cost-efficient as compared to other tools, and is very intuitive and user-friendly. Those who are not familiar with CAT tool can start from very basic, and then gradually expand their understanding of memoQ in depth. memoQ is definitely my primary recommendation to those seeking for a very powerful CAT tool.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

Because, memoQ is yet in process of development, it still has some unexpected bugs which need to be tackled. However, the support team is doing great job so far and I am very much happy with it.
One thing that memoQ could improve would be availability of information and support in Asian-languages, particularly, in Japanese where I live.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

We subscribe a memoQ cloud server, and what I like in addition to the functionality is that, the cost for subscribing the memoQ cloud server is very flexible. If you are only using individual translators who have memoQ licenses, the monthly fee can be minimum. Yet, the fee covers 5 free licenses for memoQ web which operates on any internet browser.
If you have a translator who don't have memoQ licenses, you can subscribe a mobile license that allows the translator to use memoQ translator pro while she/he is working on your project. The number of mobile licenses can be changed monthly-basis; e.g., no mobile licenses this month, but 1 or 2 mobile licenses next month, and so on. If the number is changed in a middle of the month memoQ will calculate the subscription fee on a daily-basis, so you don't have to spend waste money by changing the number of mobile licenses at the end of a month for example.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before memoQ cloud server, all the necessary information on what to do and what to not was emailed to those who are responsible of translation. Emailing such information however is not a reliable way to maintain our translation quality.
With memoQ cloud server, we simply have to change a single shared-resource in the cloud server. For example, if a source client tells us not to use a particular term, we could simply add the word as a forbidden-term in the shared term base in the cloud server. If any translator in our team uses the forbidden-term, the memoQ QA will instantly warns you that the translation contains words not allowed by the client.

 ### 41. Easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 31, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

Ease of deleting duplicate translation units and terms, ease of editing them, too. You can translate InDesign files in MemoQ even if you don't have InDesign on your computer.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

"Packages" are not set up the same convenient way as in Trados, for peer review. But we can still import, export, review, and use track changes. We just share files directly from our computer instead of using a wizard.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

Be aware that their "packages" are not the same as the Trados package wizard. That is only for freelancers and project managers. In MemoQ, you import, export, and share files directly, and you need to remember to turn on Track Changes to review for a peer.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Eliminating formatting and layout problems of the Graphics Dept. who creates documents in InDesign, converts to Word, and when we save the target in Word.

 ### 42. Ups and Downs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

MemoQ is very intuitive and pretty easy to navigate to what you need. This makes it easy to get it set up and using it in no time at all. Also, makes it easy as a PM to help translators get in and do what they need to without much of a hassle.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

I'm always leery about upgrading to the next level right away because it seems like not enough beta testing is done. I always find bugs and have to report them. So I end up waiting for a few step versions to come out before making an upgrade to a next level jump. Wish more testing would be done before pushing it live.

Wish you could do highlighted/nonhighlighted only for Word/InDesign and other programs. Also wish it could handle .dwg files.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MemoQ handles most any file type. The ability to bring in highlighted only or non-highlighted only cells for excel have been great and made getting word counts much faster and easier for our clients that send files for translating only highlighted.

 ### 43. An adcanced enterprise translation management system (TMS)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe Z. | Associate Professor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

A one-stop solution for translation and localization collaboration that comprises a repository for your translation assets, a control center for your translation projects and a qTerm for professional terminology management. Moreover, there is a desktop editor and web editor available for choice, besides language terminal, a free cloud space.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

The server management interface can be further optimized and the features of WebTrans can also be further improved. If qTerm is already embedded or integrated into memoQ server, it will be better. The location of machine translation engines is not obvious.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

memoQ server is a one-stop solution for translation and localization collaborative projects that comprises a repository for your translation assets, a control center for your translation projects and a qTerm for professional terminology management. Moreover, there is a desktop editor and web editor available for choice. It’s powerful in functions, easy to use and timely in support.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use memoQ server for teaching the students and demonstration for the prospects or trainees, besides using it for the collaborative translation projects.

 ### 44. memoQ is very complete and friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabriela R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

What I like the most about memoQ is the project management functionality and the workflow automation. The server is also quite friendly and easy to navigate. Moreover, memoQ allows to import several types of files extension, not just .doc files. Also, with memoQ server we can take advantage of the integration with our business management tool, which is fundamental in order to speed up our processes.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

The only disadvantage that I can think of is that there is no DEMO version.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

memoQ helps us to optimize our work and time. We work faster and we deliver high-quality translations. memoQ server helps our PMs to automate localization workflows and track jobs easily. They can easily see the translators’ work and deadlines through the main dashboard.

 ### 45. Reliable CAT-Tool with some nice features

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer R. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

What I really like is that memoQ offers good solutions for translators as well as for project managers. The tool keeps up with the time and the developers make an effort to be up to date concerning new requirements of the langauage sector (e.g. machine translation / video subtitling).

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

The TM search and the editing of TMs was quite nasty. It got better since memoq 8.4

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many companies work with SDL so I really appreciate the option of importing packages,

 ### 46. MemoQ translator pro

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anabella Valeria W. | Translator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

It accepts several formats: even when you upload a PDF, the formatting when you export the document is almost perfect. I like that it has filters for translated, draft, untranslated segments. Repetitions are confirmed and populated automatically.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

I dislike that in order to copy source it is necessary to press three different keys, If you are working online it can be slow to connect to the TM and go to the next segment (in that case it is recommended to work offline and then synchronize).

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

One of the best translation tools in the market, complete, relatively easy to use, can connect to the server of the client easily and compatible with Trados

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Translation, proofreading, editing

 ### 47. The fastest and easiest cat-tool in the market

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

Memoq is one of the fastest and easiest cat-tool in the translation and localization industry. I find the interface very intuitive with "clean" visuals. The software is fast and rarely freezes.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

I am not using Memoq for all my projects because almost 100% of my clients use Trados, but one downside of Memoq is their limited QA check. In my opinion, they should improve this feature to avoid too many false positive results. That delays productivity a lot.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

I would say that Memoq is worth it if you do not need to translate too many Trados files. For simpler projects it works great. Their intuitive interface makes this tool easy to use.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefit I like about Memoq is that if you are working with the agency's server, you can access Memoq directly from your browser, if you do not have a license.

 ### 48. Complete control over our translation workflows and resources

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2018

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

I like the amount of customization we are able to do with the server, setting up our own templates and export rules - especially the amount of automation we can do with the API.
I also find the support staff amazing - both the speed of the replies and the amount of help they are able to give makes the setup and maintenance of the server very easy.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

In terms of UI, the server could be a bit friendlier.
Being able to export files automatically with the templates is really complicated, if we want the files to be accessible to the project managers.

I would also like a bit more information on the data on the servers. For example being able to see the size and occupation of resources (how many segments does a certain TM has, is it assigned to anything) and users (which users are currently assigned to a project and which one.)
After a certain amount of data, the only way we can gather information is through the API or the server logs - but that means this information is restricted to the sysadmins. I would like for our PMs to be able to easily access these kind of information.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

memoQ is our main translation tool. Through the years, we have built all our processes around memoQ - we require all our translators to work on our server. The constant backups are one of the biggest benefits, but we also make use of the automations (the project templates) and the shared server resources.

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

The customer service is the best. You email, they reply with help. If they're not out for the day, they get back to you same day.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

They have a ticket system. The emails never include previous emails so you have to log in and reread the email chain to remind yourself of what is being discussed.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

The best CAT tool

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Use it for translation memory.

**What do you like best about memoQ?**

Variety of product line (desktop and server products, cloud service, etc.), excellent supports, and cost peformance.

**What do you dislike about memoQ?**

Not I dislike but they would be more competitive if they focus a bit more on the end users in the translation industry.

**Recommendations to others considering memoQ:**

There aren't many products r services that have the same product line as memoQ. I recommend memoQ because you can make a small start then implement a larger-scale product if you like the product. The most appealing point of memoQ is their excellent technical support. I'm no expert with servers and systems but I was able to implement memoQ sever by myself (which I don't recommend anyone) thanks to memoQ's great support team.

**What problems is memoQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Implemented an automatic file translation tool available to all employees at very low cost.
