LaTeX has been a fantastic package to use. I would suggest its formatting as its best feature. Formatting in LaTeX goes hand in hand with its magnitude of customizability. It is very different than "What you see is what you get" editors. Instead, it is a "What you make is what you get" software package. To every detail of a document, you have virtually unlimited control for the appearance of your document. Margins are easy to figure out and the document that you create will look better than any document you have created using other editors. **What do you dislike about LaTeX?** There is not much to dislike about LaTeX, but it does have its cons. For example, if you were to send over a document to a colleague for editing, unless they are familiar with the software package, they may not know how to edit your document. The power of collaboration in LaTeX is only possible when involved in a group with similar expertise. Also, there is no way for LaTeX to suggest alternatives for spelling errors. Documents are intended to be meticulously crafted in LaTeX and may not be quickly altered in a rush. **Recommendations to others considering LaTeX:** Feel free to just play around with the software! What I used to do was find a complex mathematical equation and attempt to reproduce it in LaTeX. **What problems is LaTeX solving and how is that benefiting you?** Whenever a document needed to have a grade of professionalism a step above WYSIWYG editors, I would always use LaTeX. For example, my first encounter with the software package was in college, when we were putting together a proposal to change a policy at my university. We wrote a PDF of our proposed policy and sent it out to key contacts at the university. It was easily disseminated with minimal error, as formatting would not change depending on the version of Microsoft Word you had installed on your computer. It was a professional document that academics were used to looking at. It has also greatly helped with professional markdowns for documents and deliverables for classes in college. ### 7. Latex offers its main power when you need to write formulas because you can include any symbol. Thus, you can write complex equations easily. You only need patience. The general aspect of a text written with Latex seems more professional than the result from using other products. Besides, reading a text made with Latex is more comfortable. One of the main advantages of latex is the community behind it. If you find any problem, you can google the error and you will find several solutions to your problem. Finally, you can export from Latex to other formats like pdf, ps, HTML, and so on. **What do you dislike about LaTeX?** Latex is not WYSIWYG. This makes it a little bit hard to write texts. Sometimes, the help for specific commands is incomplete and difficult to find. Finally, sometimes you need to include some effect or special feature, available in Latex, but it is difficult. Latex does not include grammar or spell checking. If you want it, you need to install a good tool for using Latex. The better the tool, the easier it to write texts. In fact, I recommend using Latex with a tool instead of using a plain text editor. **Recommendations to others considering LaTeX:** Firstly, follow a tutorial about Latex. Then, install a program for using Latex. **What problems is LaTeX solving and how is that benefiting you?** I write all my scientific papers with Latex. Most of the editorials have latex templates that make it easy to write a paper for that editorial. Moreover, if you want to change the template, sometimes you only need to change one line. ### 8. In addition, it expands your knowledge and leads you to explore new things such as finding the solution of a problem in two ways rather than one. **What do you dislike about LaTeX?** The main point that anyone should concern about is that using LatTeX is frustrating because at some point you struggle with finding an error that occurred in your codes and that may take hours or even days. Or students asking you to write their research paper and keep annoying you with fixing this, arranging that, writing that example, proving that theorem. Giving each chapter a name and changing the deadline of their project 2 or 3 hours before the deadline. **Recommendations to others considering LaTeX:** Today is better to learn how to use Latex than tomorrow because from my perspective of view, in the nearly future the use of LaTeX will be similar to speaking English. **What problems is LaTeX solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use LaTeX mainly to fix other people's codes since in my community people particularly university students use LaTeX to write their bachelor's degree-research papers and when they struggle with a code or face a wall, I help them with solving the error that has in their codes. ### 9.
