Expense reporting is very easy to create and submit. I love the org chart layout and navigation throughout the site is very well thought out. Recently I had updated my bank's direct deposit infomration and again, very easy to find and change. **What do you dislike about Justworks?** One suggestion - Paystubs info is clear and direct, and what would be helpful is a view to understand tax rates and model out changes to net income if I update deductible info. **What problems is Justworks solving and how is that benefiting you?** Viewing and managing my personal finances related to my employer and managing my employees finances and time off and expenses requests. ### 3. Compared to Trinet and ADP, Justworks is by far the easiest PEO I've used. It's so easy to find exactly what I need thanks to how the menu system is designed. The mobile app also provides a fantastic experience. I can do all the core actions I need in the mobile app, such as reviewing upcoming holidays, viewing pto and submitting time off, and getting my insurance information. It's easy to see how much time and thought the designers and product team put into the service. **What do you dislike about Justworks?** I don't have any dislikes. I would say the PTO subtraction is a bit odd: Let's say I have 20 hours of pto and submit a request for 10 hours. The time isn't subtracted until the day of the request passes, so until that day I think I still have 20 hours of pto to use. To a regular user this could lead them to believe they have more PTO available and could accidentally over-request pto. **What problems is Justworks solving and how is that benefiting you?** Like many businesses we rely on Justworks to help us manage benefits, onboarding and time off. This is a great solution as it takes the burden off of our staff to have to manage plans and keep track of pto ourselves. ### 8. Their sales and onboarding staff gave great personalized attention to get us going. It's an easy system for the employees to use and I have had zero complaints from employees. Forecasting the upcoming payments is also super helpful. **What do you dislike about Justworks?** One thing I dislike is the reporting and the ease of access to my data. I wish they had an open API so that I could connect, or a way to export data so that I can put it into another system for analysis. Their analysis is limited to a narrow set of workflows and I have greater needs. They do allow export via CSV of several things, but records for invoice line items do not have unique IDs, making it difficult to de-duplicate when importing into other systems for analysis. Their mobile app also did not work on my (current model) android phone. **What problems is Justworks solving and how is that benefiting you?** I don't have time to keep track of all the payroll and regulations and JW does that for me. They offer a plethora of human resource tools and employment law updates within their platform. One of my favorite features is the electronic timecard integration which stremlines our employee timecard proecesses and shift approvals for payroll processing. Also, their customer support team is excellent! They are responsive and knowledegable. They understand the time sensitivity related to handling terminations and onboarding in a fluid and timely manner. **What do you dislike about Justworks?** The only downfall that I have with Justworks is their full-time hours cannot be adjusted to accomodate our 7.5-hour full-time work day. The full-time work day included in Justworks is 8.0 hours. Therefore, we perfom manually adjustments for regular time, extra time, and overtime which is inconveinient. In the legal industry a 7.5-hour workday is common. I have discussed this with Justworks and I hope they are able to find a soultion. When they do, they will definely have a 10 rating from me! **What problems is Justworks solving and how is that benefiting you?** They have a new elctronic timecard which is very beneficial for our staff. ### 12. We found Justworks to dramatically simplify the process of setting up employment both for the first time as a US employer and repeatedly in additional states. We've worked with many PEO/EOR services both in the US and around the world and Justworks has been the best partner we've worked with by far. In the US, their prices are excellent, benefits solid, and they're consistently good to work with. I would (and have) recommended Justworks to others. **What do you dislike about Justworks?** The state unemployment insurance process can be confusing and difficult. This isn't really Justworks fault as every state has a different process and different rules, but we've found this to be difficult to keep track of in the past and it's an area Justworks could help more (noting that they have improved since we first started working with them back in 2019). **What problems is Justworks solving and how is that benefiting you?** Justwork dramatically simplifies setup of employment services (payroll, benefits, compliance) and helps guide you through state compliance. ### 17. I also love that I can access my paystubs in a central place. Generally, I find the layout and interfacing with Justworks is easy and it is user friendly and intuitive. I also love that there is a calendar which lets me know my anticipated payday, as I get paid for every 2 weeks worked, not consistently on the same day each month. I also love that I get email reminders to submit hours and summarizing my hours worked for the week, which makes it easy to identify any mistakes and correct them before the timecard is processed. **What do you dislike about Justworks?** I think that the only thing that could be improved from my persepctive is formatting or marking reminder emails for submitting hours so that they are different and more prominent than other emails. Like I mentioned, I like getting the frequent emails, however, both my supervisor and I have missed emails informing us that hours need to be submitted early due to a holiday. If those emails could be highlighted in some way that would be very helpful. **What problems is Justworks solving and how is that benefiting you?** I work for a small non-profit organization, and Justworks enables us to save time in terms of payroll, benefits, time tracking etc. Instead of navigating multiple platforms, Justworks provides an easy and centralized system for all of our needs. It also enables us to ensure that employees are complying with legal requirements in terms of breaks, and can easily see and use accrued PTO and sick time. ### 18. The platform is extremely accessible and user friendly, and they have made great improvements over time to their functionality and customer support model. Having access to multiple support communication options and 24/7 service has also been invaluable to us. **What do you dislike about Justworks?** Over the first year of working with Justworks, we did have difficulty with becoming acclimated to new systems, as often if we spoke to four different Justworks representatives over the course of a project, we would get four different answers to the same question. This has streamlined over time, but it does still sometimes take multiple attempts to get a question fully answered to the level of detail we need. **What problems is Justworks solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have a very small staff and only one employee managing human resources and operations, which would make functioning without a PEO extremely difficult. Justworks handles many (though not all) of the logisitics needed for payroll and benefits administration, and assists with compliance. ### 19. As an admin, having a platform that makes things easy for me is super helpful, as things typically move quickly. The app is user-friendly, and my team enjoys the ease of finding what they need right when they log in. The thing I'm most excited about now is the International partnership - at the moment we only have 1 international EE - but helps to know we can grow with JW support. I'm on the platform probably daily, checking EE status, payroll, and benefits and pulling reports. And it's been really great having ease of finding what i need. **What do you dislike about Justworks?** We didn't have the best MDV open enrollment season this time around. We've been through the flow a few times (since 2017), and even once, our premiums went up by 37%! This year, though our premiums were low, we received the wrong information multiple times during the process. Lastly, I enjoyed having one point of contact for everything. I'm not really a fan of the customer success team. I'm a pretty experienced Admin, and with CSuccess, it sometimes feels like I'm teaching them how to do something, or they undermine what I'm saying. I also worked at JW for almost two years as a Strategic Manager, so sometimes their tone is condescending as they're explaining very basic things. **What problems is Justworks solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have EEs scattered all around the US- I like that JW keeps us compliant in all states ensuring we're providing the right documentation at hire and termination. That the right taxes are being withdrawn from paychecks and going into the correct govt entities. For our EEs, it helps having one platform where i can direct them for all things benefits, perks, payroll and time off. One stop-everytihng. ### 20. I can only think of one other company (chewy.com) which should be as renowned for its support staff as Justworks - I have never had a bad support interaction. The support team are always extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Our small business has 6 people in 6 different US States. With no on-staff HR expert, trying to keep on top of all of the compliance laws, taxes, workers comp insurances, etc., would be nearly impossible for us. Justworks makes it easy. It was extremely easy to onboard our staff. I love that I can manage my full-time W2 employees as well as our independent contractors in the same place. Our accountant also loves the reports that we are able to easily generate come tax time. As the company's de facto HR person, I use Justworks regularly. The information I need as an admin is displayed right when I log in, and being able to quickly research the answer to a staff member's question about benefits, holidays, etc. makes our team feel confident that they are being taken care of. I've only used other PEO services as a user before, never an admin, but I can't think of very much that Justworks doesn't have which I would want in a service like this. **What do you dislike about Justworks?** I have concerns about the healthcare plans available. Our premiums went up, on average, 37% over last year. As always, when I called Justworks support for help understanding the change, the person I spoke to was extremely helpful and informative, explaining the reasons for the increase and that actually, Justworks' Aetna plans went up 41% on average this year. However, I don't know if this is representative of the market at large, or whether we would be able to find better rates elsewhere. We are too small to do that price research and comparison ourselves, so we have to rely on the information we can get from Justworks. The increase will be a big hit to our small business this upcoming year, however, and so I wish there were more transparency about the cost increases and how they compare to other competing products. **What problems is Justworks solving and how is that benefiting you?** Compliance regulations. There's no way our small business could stay on top of the different laws and requirements of multiple states. Justworks makes payroll easy - in fact, it's almost completely hands-off. I save so much time each month not having to manage payroll and benefits manually. ### 21. The layout is clear and well-organized, which makes it easy to find what I need without any hassle. I’ve also been impressed by Justworks’ customer service. On the occasions I’ve had questions, the support team has been responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful (and super fun!). **What do you dislike about Justworks?** One area for improvement is the self-service functionality. There are a few tasks—like updating certain personal details or making specific adjustments to benefits—that still require reaching out to an admin. I can check my pay stubs, benefits, and tax info all in one place, which saves a ton of time. Has some good aspects, but most aspects are infuriating. **Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2024 **What do you like best about Justworks?** That when things are running smoothly, they just run and nothing seems like it could go wrong. **What do you dislike about Justworks?** Different answers depend on the rep you get - so you need someone with enough expertise in your company to ensure things are done compliantly; If you have any payroll issues that need to be adjusted - beware, they might just take a VERY LARGE $ ($13k) "accidentally" out of your CEO's personal bank account and not return it for 10 days (I have a peer with them as well and they "accidentally" withdrew $18k and 25k from her bank and personal account respectively in the same week during the holidays and she was unable to buy gifts for her family and almost was unable to make payroll); The reporting needs a lot of updating - but just be aware when you work with JustWorks you do not own your data and you will struggle to get it out of the system - keep good records of your own so you can access things like dependent information; The benefit offerings are nuanced in various ways that make them not good benefits despite them being seemingly affordable for the company - coverage networks are terrible; They have no way to administer leaves of absence so you are left to figure that out on your own and they have no field for inactive or LOA so we can even tell that they are out of office; The number of features doesnt compare to other HRIS systems and would encourage people to look outside of a PEO and handle their HR and payroll in-house. **What problems is Justworks solving and how is that benefiting you?** running payroll and administering benefits ### 23. We are not paying for features we do not need or use, nor are we in search of other solutions to complement Justworks with features we need. Justworks is also consistently adding features to their platform, like Expense Reimbursement, which we love. Justworks support is also incredibly helpful whenever we have an inquiry. **What do you dislike about Justworks?** One downside we have encountered is the cost of benefits. Our health insurance rates increased 47.5% this year, and may be cheaper to source on the market for some of our team members. We had hoped being a part of a PEO would help our small business offer more cost effective and better benefits to our team, but we are concerned about this significant increase impacting the company and our employees. **What problems is Justworks solving and how is that benefiting you?** Justworks acts like another member of the team. Support is incredibly helpful with HR and benefits related questions. For example, we recently had a problem with 401k deductions not occuring correctly for our team members. We've never been able to access good large group benefits until we signed up with JustWorks. We even have short—and long-term disability insurance, and life insurance for the whole team, including the owners. These were not viable options for us with other providers. There are lots of great employee management tools included too. Aside from that, support is great and quick. The onboarding was very easy -- step-by-step and supported by a dedicated Justworks team member. The website is easy to use and has lots of great resources. I ❤️ Justworks! **What do you dislike about Justworks?** Payroll funding occurs almost a week in advance. Justworks does offer an expedited service, but neither of my banks allows the required "reverse wires," and they are big banks, so it does not appear to be a common request. I am just used to QB payroll, which lets you keep your money a bit longer. We do much of our accounting and HR through just works. We get great support and employees can easiley access their own documents for mortgases, taxes, insurance, and vacation planning with out having to contact our busy HR staff. I can view my info on my work computer, home computer, or cell phone. **What do you dislike about Justworks?** Often it seems like i have to have a diffreent program, app, password, etc for every single work task I do. We have Teams for training and comunication, Time Tracking for our puch clock, Basecamp 2 for schedualing, a propriatary softwear for my actual job, and MS authenticator to log in to all of the other accounts. I is more of a complaint about modern life. After some research, I discovered I was an early user to their Payroll platform and decided to give them a chance. So far, they have been great to work with and their rates are pretty competitive. It wasn't easy to understand. Unfortunately, we can only enter hours for time worked Monday - Friday so we've had to make some adjustments to accomodate the time card system. I would say that it's not a "one size fits all" when it comes to payroll and it would be super helpful if there was a new platform for users like us. If you a very small company <10 people, I think it wouldn't be as big of a deal. Compliance documents are not built in, e-verify isn't built in, reports are limited, admins have limited access. If you've used more robust HRIS systems in the past, you will probably be disappointed. The customer support is probably the most disappointing of all.
